Zuni Park - Week 6 Highlights

Menace 2 Sobriety vs. Backdoor Ohoulihans:  It's a bird, no it's a plane, no it's Billy Lions and his Superman socks scoring!!  Billy brought his showmanship AND BO took the early lead bottom 1...nice work Billy!!!  Menace 2 Superman came back with their kryptonite kicking and manufactured 3-runs in 2 innings with aggressive base running, AND excellent beer drinking.  BO answered with 2 runs of their own and had this game tied up going into the bottom of the 6th inning.  Then Ben Whitehead smacked a super-man-SAC-fly that scored 2 and BO stymied Menace from there on.  Backdoor Ohoulihans wins 6-3.

Highlanders vs. Not In The Face:  Highlanders were getting Faced early in this one as Not in the Face got out to an early 4-0 lead by the 3rd inning.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, Highlanders quit due to a controversial foul OR not foul call and walked off the field.  Not In The Face wins 3-0 by forfeit.

Zuni Park - Week 5 Highlights

Menace 2 Sobriety vs. Highlanders: Dave Muyer from Menace 2 Sobriety gave the game a sobering start with a home run in the top of the 1st. Over the next two innings, Menace's solid offense was able to extend their lead to 5-0. Then in the bottom of the 3rd inning, things took a turn when the Highlanders got their offense rolling with four runs, to sneak back in the game. This offensive outburst was highlighted by Bryan Tierney's 2-RBI's. The score remained the same until the bottom of the 5th inning, when the Highlanders plated two more runs and took the lead 6-5. The Highlanders weren't done yet. In the bottom of the next inning, the Highlanders extended their lead by scoring four more runs, 10-5. The Highlanders kept up their tight defense and closed this game out. Highlanders wins 10-5.

Backdoor Ohoolihans vs. Not in the Face: What a great game!  Backdoor came out kicking with a fury and were able to score four runs. Two of which came from a Stephen Blann home run! Face responded in the bottom half of the 1st with two runs of their own to close the gap to 4-2. At this point, both teams found their 'D' and flopped it all around, leading to the next 4 1/2 innings of scoreless play. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning, Face's Robbie Leonhardt kicked a SAC fly to bring his team within one run, 4-3. Unfortunately for Face, Backdoor's 'D' was a little bit bigger and helped them hang on for the victory. Props to both pitchers who played stellar games - Stephen Blann for Backdoor and Robbie Leonhardt for Face. Backdoor Ohoolihans wins 4-3.

Both teams played good 'D' in the 2nd and 3rd innings to keep the score at 2-0. Backdoor's Jared Wright recorded all three outs for his team in the bottom of the 2nd. Backdoor scored one more insurance run in the top of the 7th to solidify the win.  Backdoor Ohoolihans wins 6-4.

Highlanders vs. Not in the Face - What a great game!!! Not in the Face got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Zuni Park - Week 3 Highlights

Menace 2 Sobriety vs. Not In The Face:  When you hear the names like Loomis, Leonhardt, Mickael, and Phillips you’re instantly thinking, this is gonna be a good game.  Vegas had this game with no spread; you just needed to decide who was going to win this one!!  With both teams having years of experience and stellar defense we figured it might come down to whoever made the 1st error in this one.  The game was scoreless through 2 innings when this happened and Menace was the benefactor, of errors by Not In The Face, and their own aggressive base running scoring 3 runs in the 3rd inning to take a commanding lead.  Face answered with one run in the bottom of the 4th inning to bring the game to 3-1.  Mickael and Co. answered right back in the top of the 5th with 2 runs and 1 more in the 7th bringing the score to 6-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.  Not In The Face was feeling “rally time,” and brought their whole arsenal scoring 3 runs for a great comeback attempt, however it wasn’t enough to cover the deficit.  Menace 2 Sobriety wins 6-4.

Highlanders vs. Backdoor Ohoulihans:  Alysha Beckie had BO (that’s Backdoor Ohoulihans) on the board 1st in this one with a 2 RBI smack to take the early 2-0 lead.  It wasn’t until the 3rd inning when Highlanders started figuring out the snazzy pitching style of BO and who better to teach the team than Cappy Elliot Hasse?  Elliot started the scoring frenzy in the top of the 3rd inning with 2 RBI’s and Highlanders then scored at least 1 run every inning for the next 5 innings!!!  Way to lead the troops Elliot!!  In the top of the 4th inning, BO’s Mitch Lamke (also Cappy) kept Highlanders from scoring 2 runs by snagging an unassisted double-play, however Highlanders scored 7-runs in 5 innings and we’re only matched by 2 more from the talented Backdoor group.  Highlanders win 7-4.

Zuni Park - Week 2 Highlights

Highlanders vs. Menace 2 Sobriety - The newspaper article said this was to be a defensive battle. Both pitchers are known for their stellar skills at the mound.  It was Menace 2 Sobriety who struck first with a 2 RBI home run by Brett Tulippe that menaced a 2-0 lead. This was then followed by a Ross Elder home run in the bottom of the 4th.  Highlanders answered with one run of their own in the 4th, to make it a 3-1 game, and that was the score going into the 7th.  In the 7th inning, the Highlanders put on their rally caps and generated the base runners to take the lead but were only able to squeeze in one run, and Menace ended up with the W.  Menace 2 Sobriety wins 3-2.

Not in the Face vs. Backdoor Ohoolihans - Not in the Face proved in Week 2 to be balanced on both sides of the ball with excellent defense, strategic ball placement and aggressive base running. Zach Willett of Not in the Face smacked a lead-off home run in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 1-0 lead.  Both teams went on lock-down defense for 3 innings, holding each other scoreless.  It was finally in the top of the 6th inning when Not in the Face turned it on with a 2-run single from Kyle Johnson, followed by a sack-fly by Spencer Loomis to take a commanding 4-0 lead going into the final inning.  After being shut-out for 6 innings, Backdoor's Steve "Not on the Roster" Bland  (#whenareyougoingtosignup??) had had enough and slammed a solo shot of his own to avoid the shut-out.  Unfortunately, that's all the solo shot did, as Not in the Face wins 4-1.

Zuni Park - Week 1 Highlights

Backdoor Ohoolihans vs. Menace 2 Sobriety:  In the opening day of the fall league, Backdoor Ohoolihans looked to make their mark on GO Kickball as the Highland main stays of Menace 2 Sobriety looked to flex their muscles as the team to beat in Highlands.  Backdoor got things started off nicely as the knocked in 1 run in the first and Menace failed to answer in the bottom half.  Then the game turned into a showcase of great defense and pitching.  Donnie make a great running catch for Backdoor to save 2 runs in the 3rd inning…nice wheels Donnie, especially in that thick grass!!  The following inning Backdoor’s defense shinned again as they recovered nicely after loading the bases full of Menacing 2 Sobriety runners.  Backdoor added an insurance run in the 7th and they started the season out right with a W!!  Backdoor Ohoolihans win 2-0.

Highlanders vs. Not In The Face:  Highlanders, where you at???  Email us if you’re not going to make it.  Not In The Face wins 3-0.
