Fort Collins - Week 2 - Highlights

Edora Park Field 1 (6pm)

High Rollers (Charcoal) vs. Where My Pitches At (Purple): Another close one! Even though the High Rollers maintained a lead throughout the game, the can-do attitude of Where My Pitches At ensured it would be a close one. Ryan Williams from Where My Pitches At even had the play of the game with a running catch to end the top of the 1st inning. See the video on how to properly catch a kickball like Ryan here (this is funny, they actually think they're doing us a favor). In the end though, the High Rollers were able to hold on despite Where My Pitches At’s wherewithal. High Rollers win 5-3.

Edora Park Field 2 (6pm)

Lunchbox Violators (Royal Blue) vs. Ballz N Dollz (Heliconia): With both teams coming off a close loss in Week 1, you just knew that they would be hungry for a victory this time around. Ballz N Dollz had some stellar plays, including a great gold glove defensive effort at third base in the top of the 3rd inning by Denise Marshall. Then Rebecca Benedict from Ballz N Dollz had a perfect kick for an RBI single in the bottom of the 4th inning. However, the offensive prowess of those Lunchbox Violators could just not be contained. Alison Ford, captain of Ballz N Dollz said after the game, “Tonight, we got to witness an all around great offensive showing from the Lunchbox Violators. Sometimes, you just can’t help but get violated…” Lunchbox Violators win 10-2.

Edora Park Field 3 (6pm)

Oilers SLTI (Daisy Yellow) vs. American Made (Sport Grey): The under-manned Oilers SLTI jumped out quickly in this one, scoring three runs in the top of the 1st inning. Then they kept up the defensive intensity for as long as they could, with Madysen “Major Misspellings” Jourgensen making a solid catch at third base in the bottom of the 2nd inning, right before a double play on a throw to home to end the inning. However, American Made quickly figured out how to exploit the holes in the Oilers SLTI’s defense, as they proceeded to score five runs in the bottom of the 4th and six runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. In terms of individual highlights, Allen “The Star Destroyer” Stefanik secured the go-ahead two-run RBI in the bottom of the 4th inning. Meanwhile, Dano “The Man-o” Hughes had two diving catches at third base to maintain the lead during the top of the 6th inning. Once again, American Made proves better than the competition. American Made wins 12-3.

Edora Park Field 4 (6pm)

Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Light Pink) vs. A Night at the Roxbury (Black): What an offensive explosion! The championship-winning defense on the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers must have been out bowling instead of playing kickball in this one. Michael Ochs, the GO Kickball home run leader from A Night at the Roxbury, had another inside the park home run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Then David Jarvis from A Night at the Roxbury had a two-run home run as well in the bottom of the 2nd. Babe Ruth, GO Kickball fan and home run expert, said after the game, “I haven’t seen an offensive showcase like this one since…. Well, since I died a long time ago.” A Night at the Roxbury wins 13-5.

Edora Park Field 1 (7pm)

RiKICKulous (Irish Green) vs. Just Kickin It (Old Gold): Now here was an even match up…. Even though RiKICKulous maintained a lead for most of the game, Just Kickin It was always within striking A.K.A. kicking distance. The low scoring nature of the game could probably be attributed to the multiple strikeouts on both sides. Maggie Wesley, captain of RiKICKulous, commentated after the game, “While we were happy with our defensive effort, we need to find some more offensive fire power. It’s pretty RIDICULOUS how challenging it can be to kick that ball sometimes…” RiKICKulous wins 4-3.

Edora Park Field 2 (7pm)

Florida Mike and the Free Ballers (Lime) vs. Kicktease (Red): The unknowns on Florida Mike and the Free Ballers were at it again in this matchup! Brooke “Balla Balla” Brown had a great RBI single to open up the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning for Florida Mike’s squad. However, Kicktease responded with an awesome fingertip grab by “The Other Adam” Johnson in the bottom of the 4th inning, and a grand slam by “The Real Adam” Eccher in the top of the 5th. Unfortunately, the randoms with Florida Mike were too much for the veterans on Kicktease to contain. Florida Mike and the Free Ballers win 9-5.

Edora Park Field 3 (7pm)

Bobs Your Uncle (Violet) vs. Check Out My Big Kick (Maroon): In another matchup of veterans versus newbies, who would come out on top? Katie Forte from the veterans on Check Out My Big Kick started things off right in the top of the 1st inning with some great base-running to score the first run and take the lead. Then Paul Wowk from Check Out My Big Kick sacrificed his head and his glasses for a diving catch at third base in the bottom of the 4th inning. (See the highlight here.) If it weren’t for a couple key double plays though, Bobs Your Uncle still might have had a chance. They even charged back in the bottom of the 7th inning to almost tie up the game! Maybe next time… Check Out My Big Kick wins 4-3.

Edora Park Field 4 (7pm)

New Kicks on the Block (White) vs. Grassholes (Carolina Blue): Solid defense early on ensured that this game would be a close one… New Kicks on the Block maintained a one run lead through most of the game, until the bottom of the 7th inning… Bum bum bum!!! That’s when Matt Timmons from the Grassholes hit an RBI double to tie it up!!!!! Then we proceeded into extra innings where Scott Eaton, Captain of the Grassholes, hit a walk off single for the win!!!! We look forward to a potential rematch in the playoffs… The Grasshole win 3-2.
