Kick in a Box (neon orange):
In
the 6th meeting between these two teams this year, Blackout was
still looking to get their first win against the orange pumpkins. Blackout
jumped out to an early lead in the 1st thanks to four straight singles
to start the game. With the bases loaded, Shane Jahnke plated two runs with a
deep sac fly. Jillian Wilkins followed with a solid line drive RBI single over
the third baseman to help give Blackout a 4-0 lead. Blackout shut out KIAB in
the bottom half of the 1st thanks in part to a gutsy play by catcher
Carissa Sanchez who kicked the ball to Todd Brewer at first base after a bunt
by Caitlin Korbelik for the 3rd out of the inning. KIAB would get on
the board in the 2nd after back to back doubles by Jake Strack
Loerstcher and Rex Ingham to make it 5-1 after two innings. Still the same
score in the bottom of the 4th when KIAB started the inning off with
three straight singles to load the bases. Caitlin Korbelik and Jake Strack
Loerstcher both sent fly balls to the outfield for sac flies, plating three
total runs to bring them within a run. In the 5th, KIAB’s Cody Eden
and Andrew Behan scored on a bunt single by Nicole Noblitt to give them a 6-5
lead. In the top of the 6th, Demetrius Harris led off with a triple
thanks to an overthrow at second base. On the next play, Ryan Piper popped it
up in the infield and Demetrius scored on the tag-up despite a throw which just
missed him at the plate, making it a 6-6 game. In the bottom half of the 6th
with Reid Korbelik already on 1st base and no outs, Seth Dufendock
sent a high fly ball to the outfield, but the left fielder for Blackout was unable
to secure it which allowed Seth to round the bases for the 2-run homer. Rex
Ingham later plated another run on a sac fly to give KIAB a 9-6 lead heading
into the 7th. In the final frame, Blackout’s first two kickers both
sent line drive kicks to Reid Korbelik at the mound for two quick outs. Shane
Jahnke started a 2-out rally with a single and Tim Menditto later scored him on
a double to right field to make it a 2-run deficit. However the rally was cut
short when Ben Jones popped it up to Rex Ingham in right field for the final
out of the game.

Kick Pitches Get Money
(carolina blue) vs Gym Class Heroes (royal blue):
AFter an epic rock-paper-scissors battle, KPGM
didn’t waste any time getting on the board. They quickly loaded the bases in the
top of the 1st, leaving Koen Litt to get a sac fly. Justin Collado
followed by clearing the bases with a triple to right field, but got tagged out
trying to stretch it to a home run. Down 3-0, GCH’s Adrian Raszka plated Erin
Blessman thanks to an overthrow at first base. In the top of the 3rd,
KPGM’s Marc O’Meara sent a deep drive to right field with the bases loaded, and
after two runs scored, the third baserunner was tagged out at home plate along
with Marc (who was three steps behind the runner in front of him) for the
double play. Now down 6-1, GCH put together a nice rally in the 4th
after a leadoff triple by Andy VanRuler. Liz Alford and Erin Blessman kicked back to back bunt singles and Mike Permar cleaned up with a 3-RBI double over
the head of the center fielder to make it 6-4. In the 5th, Erin
Blessman and Mike Permar both booted 2-out RBI singles to tie the game up at 6.
In the final inning KPGM was unable to get anything going in the top half, and
in the bottom half GCH had the winning run on third base with 2 outs. Nic
Wetherill had the chance to be the hero, but his kick was popped up and caught
by the right fielder to end the game in a tie.

BDBK (neon pink) vs
Brews on First (gold):
After
a quiet first inning from both teams, Brews on First opened the second with a
fly ball to right field off the foot of Craig Woolridge. Two defenders tried to
catch the ball ending in a collision and the ball on the ground, allowing Craig
to score for the solo home run. Later in the inning, Nolan Baker sent a deep
drive to right field for a stand-up RBI triple to make it 2-0. BDBK was held
scoreless until the 5th, when they started the inning off with three
straight singles, including a RBI line drive to center by Cortney Smith. Scott
Johnson came up next and scorched a line drive down the third base line and all
the way to the fence for a 3-run homer. Now down 4-3, BOF answered quickly in
the bottom of the 5th with a bases-loaded sac fly by Nolan Baker that scored 2 runs.
Allie Snatchko followed with a RBI single to score Dan Scogin for a 6-4 lead.
Both teams locked down on defense for the remainder of the game, allowing BOF
to hold on for the win.
