What a way to start your Go Kickball season! Zack Bolden took the very first pitch of the game deep for a HR!! That's how you set the tone. Team Grit followed up that with scoring one more to take a 2-0 lead. Power Too would answer in the bottom of the 1st with three of their own runs for their first lead, 3-2. In the 2nd inning, Grit would score three and Power Too would score 2 to give us a new ball game, 5-5. Power Too played some good D in the top of the 3rd and then went to work in the bottom of the inning. Power's Molly Nemer booted a RBI double and take back the lead. They would push in one more to make it 7-5. Grit wouldn't go away and had their own answer in the top of the 4th to tie the game at 7-7. Power took their final lead with a run in the bottom of the 5th inning, 8-7. Grit yet again answered with three runs in the top of the 6th inning. This was highlighted by Muki's 2-run double. He would then score that third run of the inning. That would all the scoring in this one. Team Grit 10, Flour Power Too 8.
Don't Stop Ballieving vs. Rubber Balls and Liquor
Ballieving's Cory Johnson got the scoring started with a 2 RBI single in the top of 2nd inning. They would plate one more to take the lead, 3-0. Balls would get their first run in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 3-1. In the top of the 4th inning, Ballieving's Shane McBride blasted a 2-run triple that helped his team take a 6-1 lead. Balls would get a little spark in the bottom of the 4th inning with a Keith Vales solo HR, 6-2. Unfortunately that would be all the score that Balls and Liquor would muster and Ballieving would score one more before this one was over. Don't Stop Ballieving 7, Rubber Balls and Liquor 2.
Stache and Lash vs. Alcoballics
For two rookie teams to Go Kickball this was a really good game. Alcoballics got on the board first with a RBI single by Sarah Tate in the bottom of the 2nd. The 'ballics would score 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning off a Peter Choinski triple (he scored on the same play with an over throw). Finally in the top of the 6th inning, Stache and Lash would break through the Alcoballics defense. They scored one off a RBI single by Justin O'keefe. Stache and Lash would then score two more off a triple by Kevin Shiflett in the top of the 7th. It was just too little, too late. Alcoballics 5, Stache and Lash 3.
Cause we Ball so Hard vs. Banzai Lightning
Ball so Hard got the scoring started with two runs in the top of the 1st inning. Banzai would score two of their own in the bottom of the 1st off a Tory W. 2-run HR. Banzai got some good defense in the top of the 2nd inning when Hunter Dunham turned a double play. After giving up one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Ball so Hard retook the lead with two runs in the top of the 3rd, 4-3. Hard plated one run in the top of the 4th to extend their lead to 5-3. Banzai did not go quietly and tied this game at five a piece in the bottom of the 4th. Ball so Hard yet again answered the call and scored two runs in the top of the 5th inning. Both teams tightened up their defense and held this game scoreless for the remainder. Cause we Ball so Hard 7, Banzai Lightning 5.
