Put It In The Bunt vs. Pitches Be Crazy:
Mike Koenck for Bunt was magical on the bases to start things out :) Bunt had single madness early and scored 2 runs in the 1st inning. PBC loaded the bases in the 2nd and Linnea Bergfalk smacked a right field single to score 1 and were probably going to score more but Bunt came up with a snazzy double-play that ended the inning. The following inning PBC's Dan Hurst smacked a solo in the park HR and we then had ourselves a tight ball game!! Bunt quickly increased their lead by dodging the errant throws from PBC scoring 5 in 2 innings of play...remember, trust your teammates and throw to the base...not at the runner. PBC's, Nick Graziano made things interesting in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 3-run blast that bounced over Brady Akers' head and never stopped rolling. That got the game to 9-6 but that is also where it would finish. Put It In The Bunt wins 9-6.
Step Parents vs. Punani Patrol:
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!! That's what both of these teams have!! Punani's, Jeff Cornetet is pitching amazing games to start the season and this was impressive. Cornetet recorded a shutout in this one against a team (Step Parents) that has great firepower....great job Jeff!! Step Parents' Chris O'Connor made a valiant effort as well and only allowed 3 in this one. Punani came out of the gates and scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st in this one and then it was all lockdown defense the rest of the way!! Crazy play of the DAY was catcher Jeremy Wagner (Step Parents) taking a shot off the face then bouncing over to another teammate to record the out...way to sacrifice accidentally Jeremy...that's taking one for the team!! This could be the championship matchup for The 5280 Cup...stay tuned!! Punani Patrol wins 3-0.
