Memorial Ball Park - Week 5 Highlights

I'll Cut a Pitch vs Jiminy Kick It: ICP was back and looked reloaded, and JKI was looking prepped to go all out. Neither team was able to score in the 1st, giving the appearance of a defensive battle. That all changed when ICP lit up the Pikes Peak sky with a 5 run burst to break up the scoreless affair. ICP wasn't done, as in the 3rd inning, they used a hole in left center to their advantage often as JKI was able to stop them after 8. JKI shifted their defense around in the 4th, and it proved to be productive as they were able to hold ICP to 2. JKI looked for any large holes or advantages and in the bottom of the 4th, they converted on 2 2-run Home runs to get on the board. Both teams got back to defense in the 5th, as both sides were shut down 1-2-3. In the 6th, ICP looked to put the icing on the cake as they cemented home 2 more runs to go up 17-4. JKI had a glimmer of hope, as they were able to drive home 2, but it was too little too late for the valiant effort for a comeback. I'll Cut a Pitch wins, 17-6

Brews On First vs Bazinga:  Bazinga was looking to keep an unblemished record in tact, while BOF was looking to play spoilers. Bazinga got off to a hot start as an RBI single to right brought home 1 to get the scoring started. Bottom 2, and a bomb by Keith Hausam brings home 2 to go up by 3. BOF was looking anywhere and everywhere for a hole, but we're unsuccessful through 3. Bazinga opened the score wide open, as a pedal to the metal offense brought home 5 to go up 8. Anything BOF wanted on offense, we're simply turned away as they were shut down on 3 pitches in the 4th. Bazinga looked to cement the win with 3 runs in the 4th to go up 11. BOF had runners in prime position, but couldn't convert any offense on this night. Bazinga would effectively end this contest with 2 more runs to end the game. Bazinga wins, 13-0

Hashtag Balls vs Kickballers: #Balls was looking to fine tune their basics to make another deep run in the playoffs, and the KBs was ready to show they aren't a laughing matter. #Balls started the show with a powerful 2 in the 1st. KBs wasn't going to let them get away fast, as they retaliated with 4 of their own to go up 4-2. Neither team was able to push home a run in the 2nd. In the 3rd, both squads got into the same mindset, as both teams scratched home 3 runs to make it a 7-5 game. #Balls wasn't gonna let KBs get away, as they tied the game in the 4th. That didn't last long, as the KBs clawed 1 home to stay up by 1. In the 6th, #Balls converted on a costly drop to tie the game at 8. Bottom 7, and KBs send a line drive to right and #Balls throw it home, but the slide under the ball and onto the plate proved to be the game winner. Kickballers win, 9-8

Basic Pitches vs Pitches Be Crazy: Both teams came in experienced and looking to see where they stood against each other. BP would get out to an early 2 run in the 1st and the gas pedal was on. PBC wasn't able to score in the 2nd, and BP took advantage of the situation, bellowing home 4 crucial runs. PBC would break up the shut out in the 3rd with help of a bloop single to center. BP was not happy, and they pushed harder, for 3 more runs to go up 9-1. Whatever PBC tried, BP had the perfect counter, as PBC was unable to produce runs in the 4th through the 6th. BP would all but put the game out of reach with 2 in the 4th to go up 10 and convert for 4 in the 6th to go up 15-1. PBC was living on a prayer, and we're able to score 2 in the 7th, but it wasn't to be. Basic Pitches wins, 15-3
