Special started things off with a single run in the top of the first inning...very special!! They'd keep that lead until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Balls' Nick Schnurr blasted a solo home run and tied the game at one a piece...nice work Schnurr!! The score would remain the same until the bottom of the 4th inning and then Balls' Nick Schu was at it again!! "Schnurr, Schnurr, Schnurr," the fans were chanting as he booted a RBI double that scored a second run on errant throws around the infield. He did get out on some silly base running but the damage was done and Schnurr had put his stamp on the game. I think maybe we just like typing/saying Schnurr! Special's Chris Towle made a notable and sweet diving catch to end the bottom of the 4th inning and stop the Schnurr rally. Both teams finished with lockdown defense, and scoring in this one, ended in the 4th. Untouchaballs win, 3-1.
Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Untouchaballs
This one gets our vote for best game of the day. Kicks got on the board early with two runs in the 1st with strategic ball placement and aggressive base running. Balls were stymied in the 1st inning, but in the 2nd Nick Schnurr was back kicked a solo home run to make the game 2-1. In the 3rd inning it was all lockdown defense, snazzy pitching from both teams, and zero zip zilch on the scoreboard. Then in the bottom of the 4th innings Balls' Schnurr was at it again belting two RBI's in and gave his team the lead, 3-2. As Kicks always does, they did not give up and in the top of the 6th inning they plated two runs and took the lead back, 4-3. However, it seemed to be Untouchaballs' destiny on this Sunday Funday, and Thomas Riggle was able to kick the game winning, two RBI single and from there it was pandemonium...very impressive Thomas!! Untouchaballs win, 5-4.
Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Booze on First
After a nail biter of a first game, Fresh Kicks was ready to go. They opened the game with four runs. The first run was scored on a triple from Fresh's speedster Tack and from there Fresh had all the momentum. It is amazing that teams who score in the 1st inning, win 80% of the time per Compustat...teams, make your mark early!! Their scoring in the inning would end with a two run home run from Brad Callaway who was mad he didn't kick it further as he trotted around the bases. Booze would get their only run of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning from a solo home run by their pitcher. Kicks would add four more runs over the final two innings and win this one easily. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win 9-1.
New Kicks On The Block vs. Star Spangled Hammered
We thought maybe this would be a defensive battle the whole way through, but it ended up being a game of the long ball. Scoring started in the 3rd inning by SSH who got two home runs, 1 by Gary Spetseris (sp) and the other by Jim Warren (sp). Jim's was a two run shot while Gary booted a 3-run home run in the 4th inning and instantly the team Franchise tagged him. New Kicks got a small spark from the newbie Kevin Eady who kicked a solo home run which was their only run...let's keep Kevin on board!! In the end, SSH had too much fire power for the Newbies. Star Spangled Hammered wins 10-1.
