Sunday Funday - Week 3 Highlights

Star Spangled Hammered vs. New Kicks on the Block

Hammered got out to an early lead in this one with three runs in the top of the 1st inning. That would be all the scoring for both teams until the top of the 3rd inning when Hammered plated two more runs and stretched there lead to 5-0. They probably could have scored more had Reid Grott not kicked a pop fly to end the inning with the bases loaded.  It was at this time that the New Kicks showed up. They were able to score three runs and make this a close game, 5-3. New Kicks then turned up the ‘D’ and got a pretty badass diving catch from Brook Allman to end the 5th inning. Her team would rally around that play and score another run and make this a one run game. New Kicks kept the momentum going and were able to shut down the Hammered in the 6th and 7th innings. In the top of the 6th inning, Ashley Feller caught 2 fly balls in a row to end the innings...welcome to Sunday Funday Ashley!!  Unfortunately, it was not enough. Star Spangled Hammered wins 5-4.

Hose Draggers vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air

Fresh got on the board first with one run in the bottom of the first inning. It should have been two runs but Hose made an awesome relay from right field to the first baseman to the catcher to prevent a run.  It was Brad Calloway who booted that ball and his lack of effort that made this play close.  Hose finally scored in the top of the 3rd inning with a sacrifice from Katie. Kicks would match that run and take the lead back with a RBI triple from Calloway (at least this time he knew not to push his luck).  Then in the top of the 4th inning Hose broke this game open with six runs. Two of which came off of a 2 RBI triple from Derrek Keaton. Both teams would add one more run in the 5th inning and that was all she wrote.  Hose Draggers win 8-3.

Hose Draggers vs. After School Special

This was a really good game, with high octane offense!!  Hose got started with a 2 run home run from Frank Capobianco. Special would score one run of their own in the bottom of the 1st with a sacrifice by Sara Wineberg. Special would then go on to score a single run in the next three innings.  Hose would take the lead back in the top of the 5th inning with a RBI triple from Frank Capobianco. Then with only a one run lead, Hose broke the game open with a 2 RBI single by Derek Keaton.  Hose Draggers win 11-6.

Booze on First vs. New Kicks on the Block

New Kicks were all warmed up and ready to play. They got two catches in the top of the first inning from Matt Thelen. New Kicks would go on to score the only four runs of this game in the bottom of the 1st inning. It was good defense from here on. Booze had a nice long catch from Darian Wilson to end the second inning.  Then in the top of the 6th inning New Kicks got a great catch from Brook Allman in foul territory to end the inning.  Great job New Kicks on the shutout versus a great Booze on First team!!!  New Kicks on the Block win 4-0.
