Sunday Funday - Week 6 Highlights

After School Special vs. Star Spangled Hammered

Special got this game started with five runs in the top of the first inning, damn THAT'S Special!! This charge was lead by Calvin Laue's RBI single, fancy foot work, and plenty of shenanigans. Hammered answered in the bottom of the 2nd inning and would get on the board with 2 runs. Calvin Laue's was at it again in the top of the third inning when he booted another RBI single...man this kids on fire!! Then in the top of the fourth inning Special's Kim Town got into the mix with a RBI single of her own and Special had a commanding lead. Hammered answered with a rally of their own starting with an RBI ground rule double from Rob Morrow that led to the team scoring 3 and bringing the game closer.  However, SSH was unable to start another rally as ASS went on lockdown!!  The MVP of the game was Special's Eden Emerich, just because she's just that awesome/Special!!  After School Special wins, 8-5.

Hose Draggers vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air

Kicks scored their first with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and that was all they would need. They managed this because they got a three run home run from Bobby Frawley...let's get that kid signed up for fall!!  The score would remain the same until the fourth inning. One reason it would remain tied was Kicks's Tony Domenico and his double play to end the top of the second inning...nice job Tony!! In the top of the fourth inning, Draggers got on the board with a single run and we wondered if there was a chance for a comeback.  However, Kicks would counter that with two of their own runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Brett Callaway blast/home run. Kicks would add even more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put this one further out of reach.  Draggers did mount a comeback but fell short in the top of the seventh inning. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win, 9-3.

New Kicks on the Block vs. Booze on First

This game went back and forth throughout!!  Ashleigh Fuller drove in two runs in the top of the first inning to give Block an early lead in this one. Booze answered in the bottom of the first with a run & tied the game in the bottom of the third.  Booze kept this momentum going in the bottom of the fourth inning and took the lead with an RBI single. Block was about to go quietly, and scored the tying run in the top of the fifth inning...was this going to go to extra innings??  Quickly we learned...nope, as Booze finally broke the close game up with three runs in the bottom of the fifth due to a Cayman Hood bunt that scored 3 runs!!! Now that requires some crazy base running and errant throws...it was magical to see in person!!  It's ALL about that ONE inning, not another run was scored.  Booze on First wins, 7-4.

Star Spangled Hammered vs. Untouchaballs

Star started the scoring with a triple from Gary Spetseris and he would then score on an overthrow. Balls would then take the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a Blair Withington solo home run who had literally just signed on with Untouch. Balls extended their lead in the bottom of the third with a SAC fly from Nick Schurr. Star had another spark of offense that came from John Rambo in the top of the fourth inning who booted a RBI single. However, Balls would have too much offense in this one and would get a two run RBI triple from George McGuirk and a two run home run from Nick "Shoeless" Schurr.  Nick!!  Where dem shoes at?? Untouchaballs win, 10-3.
