Dice vs. Banzai Lightning: Both teams were short on players for this one & we're hoping to see another matchup with them at full capacity!! Dice rolled into this game being the #1 seed and Banzai the #3 seed. The electricity was flowing for both teams - we've all become anxious to get on the field and play...this rain has been ridiculous!! Chris Allard started things out smacking a triple in the 1st inning for Dice and the magic started happening!!! Dice scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and Banzai was instantly in trouble. However, Banzai answered in the bottom of the 1st and 3rd with 4 runs of their own!! We're in hopes that putting our games to paper we encourage great play and one of our first tips will always be, BE aggressive on the bases...these teams push the envelope of greatness when it comes to base running!! Dice answered right back with 3 more runs of their own in the 3rd and 4 more in the 4th to put this one most likely out of reach. Banzai did respond with rally and had plated 2 runs in the 6th and were looking to continue but Dices' Jenna Rodriguez made a spectacular running catch in the 6th to close out the game!! Nice wheels Jenna!! Dice wins 11-6.

Punani Patrol vs. Put it in the Bunt: More teachings here from the GKB knowledge bank, or maybe it's the great teams that teach us!! Every great team is looking for that one breakout inning to make the difference in the game. It requires patience, the ability to grind it out defensively every inning, and lastly knowing when to capitalize!! Tonee "Over-Aggressive Base Coach" Lusk was spot on for Punani Patrol in this one and PP had 6 runs plated in 2 innings to PIITB's 1. We looked at our Compubox stat archives and teams who score multiple runs in either the 1st or 2nd inning win 83% of the time!! Getting out to an early lead is a great key to success!! David Bayouth, from Put it in the Bunt, started the teams momentum by driving in 2 runs to complete a 3-run inning and the score was now 6-4 Punani. However, Kelsey Rosinski for PP was at the top of her game with great fielding at second base and shut down the strategic kicking ideas by PIITB for both the 4th and 5th, yup, she did it all by herself!! Ok, ok, Jeff Cornetet was pitching some wicked stuff too!! PIITB had their breakout inning in the 6th and brought the score within one run but still behind. From there, Jeff Cornett came in for relief for himself and closed out the game with a strikeout! Now THAT is how you do it!!! Very impressive Jeff!! Punani Patrol wins 9-8.
Team Grit vs. Don't Stop Ballieving: The majority of the DSB team was touring with Steve Perry and the original Journey band this week and were short on numbers. Obviously when your team name is Don't Stop Ballieving everyone still felt they had a chance and "ballieve" it or not, started with the early lead!! Dan Kressenich, from Team Grit, had an amazing catch in the 4th to end the inning and followed up with a 2-run homer at his next at bat to give them the 4-3 lead. This gave Team Grit all the mojo they needed and the onslaught started!! There were just too many gaps for Team Grit to drive their balls in to and the runs started pouring in. Everything was capped off by a homer from Patrick Homans and the icing was on the cake. Team Grit wins 11-3.

Step Parents vs. Your Pitch Makes My Kick Hard: YPMMKH came out really enjoying the pitches from Step Parents and quickly scored 2 runs...don't wanna take too long doing it!! Step Parents took their backhanded compliment and answered in the bottom of the 1st scoring 3 runs of their own and taking a 3-2 lead. SP continued to add to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Adam Logan suuuuuuhmashed a 2-run shot...nice shot Adam, let's see that at The 5280 Cup!! From the 3rd on, both teams went on lock down defense and Jeremy Burke (Kick Hard) made the catch of the game with a full-speed-laid-out-diving-catch in the 5th...and for that Jeremy - WE THANK YOU!! Wish we coulda got a photo of that catch!! Unfortunately, Step Parents weren't going to deliver any pitches to make YPMMKHs' kick hard ENOUGH to plate another run in the game and the 3rd inning score was also the final score. Step Parents stepped up this week and reprimanded Your Pitch Makes My Kick Hard. Step Parents win 5-2.
