Hose Draggers weren't an eligible team for this one, but magic still happened...especially from Shoeless Jesse Clum!! Playing small ball, and aggressively running the bases, Draggers plated their 1st run in the top of the 1st inning. In the top of the second inning they expanded their lead with back-to-back solo home runs from Derrick and Dewayne Keeton. We did not think this feat had ever been done before but HERE IT IS!! The Draggers would get another run in the top of the third to take a 4-0 lead, but Booze answered in the bottom of the fourth inning when Randy Elbrecht smacked a ball in the gap to earn the team's first run. Booze would score another run in the bottom of the fifth inning and close the gap to two runs. However the fire power of Draggers was spot on for this game and they would answer with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and that was all she wrote!! Hose Draggers win 7-2, but lose by forfeit.
After School Special vs. New Kicks on the Block
This game was Special...meaning all Special. Calvin Laue got it started with a two RBI double in the top of the first inning and said "Here we GO, it's time to kick for the cycle!!" Liz Thomas kicked a solo shot in the top of the second inning and Calvin Laue continued is cycle quest by kicking a 2-run home run in the top of the 4th inning. What was so special about Special?? Special scored 12 runs in three of the first four innings....now that's a fantastic, blastastic approach to a game!! Center fielder Chris Towle made this special game for Special special with an amazing catch to raise our glasses...nice snag Chris!! After School Special wins 12-0.
Untouchaballs vs. Star Spangled Hammered
SSH said we're playing a regular game even though Untouchaballs were short in numbers for the game...how bout that sportsmanship from our Theme Week Katy Perry winners!! Both teams came out scoring with great ball placement and fancy foot work around the bases...Balls got two runs in the top of the first inning and Hammered scored one run in the bottom. In the top of the second inning, Balls scored another run and were looking to score more!! However, Hammered's unknown Free Agent, Ron Haight, made an unassisted double play to end the inning and keep the runs from scoring...let's get THAT guy on the roster!! Hammered would piggy back on that great play and score another run in the bottom of the third inning and we had ourselves a close one!! Untouch didn't like this close game and came out scoring 2 in the 4th inning and were only stopped by an amazing catch from Gary Spetseris...these Hammered folks know how to play D!! Each team scored 2 more runs late, but to put it in the words of John Madden, "you know Al, the team who scores the most points in this game, is going to be the team that wins the game," and that happened here as well! Untouchaballs win, 7-4.
Booze on First vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air
Kicks showed up with great defense in this game!! Brandon Frawley pitched another great game but it was really the help of the teams lockdown D that made this shutout happen! Second base woman Allie Yates had an amazing grab to keep the shutout intact. Fresh was led by Brad "Mr. Coachable" Callaway and his 3 RBI's...this games was actually closer than the score shows, it's just Fresh had all the big plays...great job Ball Air! Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win, 6-0.
