Vicious and Ambitious
vs. Win or Lose, We Still Booze: Action started in the bottom of the 2nd
in this one when WLWB put a runner on 3rd base with 1 out,
giving the look of an offensive opportunity. The VA defense stood strong and
wouldn’t allow a WLWB runner to come home, getting out of the jam. VA would get
on the board in the top of the 3rd, with consecutive RBI singles by
Ryan Burns and Chris Weir to put their squad ahead 2-0. Moving ahead to the
bottom of the 4th, still a VA lead, when an amazing source of energy
was unleashed by Corrine Carlson, blasting a deep RBI single to right to cut
VA’s lead in half. Bottom 5, the energy flowed from Carlson, to Maria Bise as she
unloaded a 2-run RBI single, and then scoring herself to give WLWB a 2-run
lead!! VA wouldn’t let WLWB’s lead last long, as a 2-run RBI double in the top
of the 6th by Mike Bucket put the game back to square one tying the
game up at 4 runs a side. To the 7th, and VA was looking to strike
just 1 more time, but diving catch after diving catch after diving catch in the
outfield by WLWB kept the game a tie. We
went to the 8th inning but these teams were just on lockdown defense
and no team scored. Teams tied 4-4.
AeroTek BallBusters
vs. We’ve Got the Runs: This one goes
straight to the bottom of the 2nd, and WGTR must’ve been seeing
bright lights and a bigger city as the scoreboard lit up like Times Square!! Justin
Mitchell smashed a 2-run bomb to left to start a 7-run inning that would blow
the game open wide open. ABB would get runners on in the top of the 3rd,
but a pop up catch by Kelly Narlach and a forgotten tag up allowed WGTR to
capitalize on a double play to end ABB’s scoring threat. ABB would be able to
scrap a run home in the 4th to cut into the WGTR lead, and WGTR
wasn’t happy. Bottom of the 4th, WGTR would load up the bases and
Jaron Maynard would unload them promptly with a 3-run double to start what
would be an 8-run inning going up 15-1. Top 7th, now a 16-1 lead, it
was ABB’s last chance, and they would get a single with 2 outs to get rolling.
Spencer Rogerson would convert for ABB, blasting an RBI double to put ABB back
on the board, but it proved to be too little too late. We’ve Got the Runs wins 16-2.
Tuckin with Jenenr vs
Pandora’s Box: Both teams had
already said yes to going to the Cup, and this looked like an early treat of
what could be seen on Saturday. Andrew Ciccolini would get on base first for PB
with a boot to right and this would be followed by a 2-run BOMB by Irvin Smalls
giving PB an early 2-0 lead. Anthony Reyes would lead off the top of the 2nd
for TWJ with a single, and Nancie McGee would follow suit to get runners on 1st
and 2nd. Randy Griswold would then take care of the heavy hitting as
a 2 run single up the gut would knot the game back up at 2 a piece. PB would
get back to work on offense and get runners on, leaving Rochelle Lira with the
golden opportunity to belt home an RBI single to give her team the 3-2 lead. PB
would stay on the gas pedal in the bottom of the 3rd, with a double
by Daniel Alire and a Renae Alderman RBI that would solidify what would be a 3
run inning for PB & go up 6-2. Bottom of the 4th, and PB looked
poised to strike again, but an insane catch by Nancie McGee in deep left field
to keep PB off the basepaths. Top of the 6th, still a 6-2 contest,
and Anthony Reyes would double home 2 crucial runs to get back into the game
and cut the lead in half. TWJ had one last shot to get the lead, but PBs
defense stood firm and sealed the victory. Pandora’s
Box wins 6-4.
Hashtag Balls vs.
Balls and Dolls: Hashtag got on in
the top of the 1st, thanks to back to back singles by Joey McElvy
and Adam Huerta and RBI strikes by John McDonald and Christine Perrizo to cap a
3-run 1st to go up 3-0. After that out burst, the offenses stayed at
bay as neither team would score in the 2nd. Bottom of the 3rd,
and Alan Paquin would get a lead off triple for BAD and put pressure on
Hashtag, but Alan’s efforts would go without reward. We move forward to the
bottom of the 4th, and BAD would looked to strike again with singles
by Chad Carubia and Jill O’ Connell, but again the Hashtag defense stood tall,
not allowing BAD to convert on offense. The 5th inning proved to be
the offensive fireworks part of the game, as RBI singles by Adam Clark and Sara
Kramer would solidify a 3-run 5th to go up by 6 late. BAD would find
a weak point in Hashtags defense and convert 2 big runs to close the gap within
4 runs. BAD would put together some serious offense in the bottom of the 6th
with singles by Jill O’Connell and Ali Guay, followed up by RBI strikes by
Alicia Carubia and Alan Paquin would bring the game to a 6-4 decision through
6. BAD had one more opportunity to strike, but McElvy pitched 3 balls and BAD
would pop out to end the game. Hashtag
Balls wins 6-4.
Pitches Be Crazy 2 vs
Blue Balls: PBC2 would strike early
and often, starting out with singles by Hunter Saltzgiver, Claire Turvil, and
Dan Wylie would drive Saltzgiver home. Josh Rodney would single to load up the
bases and Mike Mattorano would drive home 2 more to go up 3-0 early. BB would
score right back with a run of their own to cut PBC2’s lead to 2. Top of the 3rd
now, PBC still holding a 3-2 lead now, and Mattorano strikes again with a solo
shot to go up 4-2. Bottom of the 4th, still a 4-2 contest, and Ricky
Favilla would blast Chris Green home to bring the game back within one run. The
5th inning proved to be the game breaker, as PBC2 turned on a
massive assault with an RBI single by Kat Close, a 3-run RBI belted home run by
Mike Shaw capped what would show on the books as an 9-run inning going up 13-2.
Not to be outdone, BB would strike back with two 3-run bombs by Chris Green and
Jon Wright to cap a 6-run inning to make it a 13-8 affair. Top of the 6th,
Jill Bourgeois would get on base again to show PBC2 wasn’t entirely done on
offense, and Keith Youngers would cap the game with a 2-run blast to left
center to give his team the 15-8 lead and win. Pitches Be Carzy To wins 15-8.
