Denver - Wednesday Highlights - Week 5

Ciancio Park Field 1 (6pm)

Don’t Stop Ballieving (white) vs. Balls and Dolls (lime)

Matt Cucless’s SAC fly scored the first run of this game for the PAC MAN crew and DSB took a 1-0 lead.  Balls and Dolls looked to answer in the bottom of the first, getting the bases loaded with only one out, but the DSB defense stood strong and held them scoreless. In the bottom of the second, two runs were scored on a Joshua Nelson bloop ball to right field and Balls and Dolls took the lead, 2-1. Balls and Dolls added another run in the bottom of the third, with a RBI single from Chris Brandewie. DSB’s Jeff “The Blade” Lalama placed a perfect SAC fly into the open arms of Steve Perry and brought the game to 3-2. Chris Brandewie made the highlight reel again by smacking an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to keep Balls and Dolls in the lead at 4-2 – nice work Chris! In the bottom of the fifth, DSB made a great play at 2nd, but the runner at 3rd scored for Balls and Dolls, increasing their lead to 5-2. In the top of the sixth, DSB’s Shane McBride had an RBI single to pull within 2. From there, both teams went on lockdown D and that’s all she wrote, folks! Balls and Dolls win 5-3.

Ciancio Park Field 2 (6pm)

Dice (Purple) vs. Punani Patrol (Pink):

Dice started out in typical fashion, scoring 1 in the top of the first and were looking to score more…however, an over-the-head kick from Eric Mortensen to Haley Rohr for the tag-out at home made ESPN’s top ten, we’re just sure of it! Big John started a 4-run inning for Dice with a RBI single and this gave DICE a 5-0 lead. Dice added one run in the 6th and pitcher John Anderson shut out the PP crew.  Dice wins 6-0.

Cuernavaca Park Field 1 (6pm)

Saved By the Balls (Red) vs. Step Parents (Royal Blue):

Jeremy Wagner continued his quest for MVP status with a home run in the second for Step Parents. The Backhanders layed the beat down early and had an astounding 13 runs by the fourth inning...now that's just abusive...call Child Protective Services!  They would’ve scored more but Balls’ Ryan Manley had a great diving catch and put the belt back in the belt loops! Texas Chris Roberts homer’d in the sixth to put the cherry on top of this banana split. Step Parents win 15-0.

Cuernavaca Park Field 2 (6pm)

Ball So Hard (Green) vs. The Simpletons (Black):

Chad “Uncle Sam” Wells and Dani “Sassy Socks” Row made the magic happen for Ball So Hard and scored 2 in the top of the first inning to take a commanding 2-0 lead right off the bat – or should we say, foot? In the bottom of the second, The Simpletons’ Misty “Elvira” Gillespie wham-bam-thank-you-mam’d (need we say more??) to score their first run of the game. In the top of the third, “Uncle Sam” was at it again, shooting fireworks into the stands with an RBI triple to take a 3-1 lead. The Simpleton’s went on a soft-kitty scoring spree in the bottom of the fourth scoring 3 runs and taking the lead 4-3. Pretty simple, ain’t it! Ball So Hard answered in the top of the fifth with 3 runs of their own, now taking the lead back 6-4. In the bottom of the sixth, The Simpletons were down 7-4 until Jake Holsteen’s double started a 4-run streak to take the lead. The media’s attention turned from Peyton Manning’s skinny legs to The Simpleton’s comeback. Call it a comeback, kids, as this was The Simpleton’s first win of the season! The Simpletons win 8-7.
