Edora Park Field 1 (6pm)
New Kicks on the Block (White) vs. Check Out My Big Kick (Maroon):
In this evenly matched contest, there could only be one victor!
And that victor was… wait for it… New Kicks on the Block jumped out to an early
2-0 lead, but Check Out My Big Kick would go on to tie things up in the bottom
of the 3rd inning before taking a 3-2 lead after the bottom of the 4th.
Then Heather Cox from Check Out My Big Kick closed out the game with a diving
catch in left field. Captain of Check Out My Big Kick, Shannon Haggerty, said
after the game, “Our team had a rough season this past summer, but with a few
key free agent acquisitions, we have been able to find our form. Now, we are
coming for that Horsetooth Cup!!!” Check Out My Big Kick wins 3-2.
Edora Park Field 2 (6pm)
RiKICKulous (Irish Green) vs. Kicktease (Red):
The costumed crusaders in this game made for
an interesting match up—who would win in a challenge between the Colors of the
Rainbow (RiKICKulous) and Halloween Stereotypes (Kicktease)? RiKICKulous
stormed out to the early lead on an inside the park home run by Joe Bohn in the
top of the 3rd inning. But Kicktease’s huge rally in bottom of the 3rd
ultimately gave them the lead for good. Kickball Analyst and big Halloween fan
Freddy Krueger commented after the game, “Those Halloween aficionados on
Kicktease just barely got the best of those Rainbows from RiKICKulous—no more
pot of gold for them!” Kicktease wins
7-6.
Edora Park Field 3 (6pm)
Florida Mike and the Free Ballers (Lime) vs. Grassholes (Carolina
Blue):
The Grassholes, looking to bounce back from two losses in a row,
weren’t going to take anything for granted in this one. However, Florida Mike
and the Free Ballers weren’t going down too easy either. Mitch “Free Ballin”
Murray, had a great diving catch in the top of the 3rd to keep
things manageable. However, the Grassholes’ Mitch “No Ballin” Buchner’s leadoff
triple in the top of the 4th inning was a bad omen for Florida Mike
and the Free Ballers going forward. Then Steven “Extra Ballin” Warren from the
Grassholes gunned down a runner from the outfield to save a score in a bottom
of the 4th that sent a message—there would be no comebacks this
time! Grassholes win 9-3.
Edora Park Field 4 (6pm)
Just Kickin It (Old Gold) vs. Bobs Your Uncle (Violet):
Talk about an MVP performance!!! Despite
Just Kickin It really kicking the crap out of the ball for a total of 13 runs,
the pitcher for Bobs Your Uncle, Michael Gallagher, turned in his best overall
performance of the season! Gallagher completed a double play in in the first
inning, a home run in the 3rd, and a golden glove play to shut down
a suicide squeeze attempt in the 5th inning. Unfortunately, Just
Kickin It was too powerful despite Gallagher’s all-star performance. Just Kickin It wins 13-4.
Edora Park Field 1 (7pm)
A Night at the Roxbury (Black) vs. American Made (Sport Grey):
The
Troll Dolls on A Night at the Roxbury thought they had this one in the bag—they
were winning all the way through the top of the 7th inning until
Cameron Ayers from the American Hunters on American Made’s squad hit a
sacrifice fly ball with the bases loaded to win the game!!! Maybe if troll
dolls were actually made in America, they would have had a better chance to win
this one… American Made’s captain, Tony Martin, only had one thing to say after
the game: “Go America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” American
Made wins 4-3.
Edora Park Field 2 (7pm)
Where My Pitches At (Purple) vs. Ballz N Dollz (Heliconia):
In a
whacky and wild game featuring Halloween Candy (Ballz N Dollz) facing off
against Harry Potter (Where My Pitches At), anything could happen! Once again,
Ryan Williams from Where My Pitches At earned MVP honors as “Sexy” Harry Potter
due to his sure hands and cannon for an arm. Once the Golden Snitch scored for
Where My Pitches At though, the game was all but over… (See the highlight here.)
Unfortunately, that still only counted for one run in kickball. Where My Pitches at wins 4-0.
Edora Park Field 3 (7pm)
Lunchbox Violators (Royal Blue) vs. Little Lebowski Urban Achievers
(Light Pink):
Now this was a defensive battle for both teams! Eli “The
Brick Wall” Roth from the Lunchbox Violators had a great stretching catch in
the top of the 1st inning. Then Brian “The Shield” Strock from the
Lunchbox Violators made a fingertip grab at first in the top of the 5th
inning. And finally, Dane “The Iron Cane” Anderson from Little Lebowski Urban
Achievers completed a double play to end the inning in the bottom of the 5th.
Ironically enough, even though the Lunchbox Violators dressed up as the Harlem
Globetrotters, the final score made them seem more like the Washington Generals
despite the fact that they had been winning from the 1st through the
6th innings. Little Lebowski
Urban Achievers win 2-1.
Edora Park Field 4 (7pm)
Oilers SLTI (Daisy Yellow) vs. High Rollers (Charcoal):
The game
plan going into this one for the Oilers SLIT was to get on top early, and then
cruise to victory with their defense. After scoring three runs in the top of
the 1st inning, substitute starter Garret Dean from the Oilers SLTI
made a diving catch for an out that set the defensive tone for the rest of the
game. (See the highlight here.) For the High Rollers, they looked more like Halloween victims than
Halloween killers in this contest… But don’t count them out yet—they still have
a chance to come back from the dead and make a run at the Horsetooth Cup! Oilers SLTI win 6-2.
