Edora Park Field 1 (6pm)
Lunchbox Violators (Royal Blue) vs. vs. American Made (Sport Grey): Too
bad style doesn’t always translate into runs… American Made had some stellar
plays, including several impressive catches by Cody Wells in addition to a
jaw-dropping over-the-shoulder snag in the top of the 2nd. The play
of the evening though came when Joslyn McGriff from American Made somersaulted through
first base. (See the highlight here.) Unfortunately for American Made, you don’t get bonus
points for somersaults L
Lunchbox Violators win 3-1.
Edora Park Field 2 (6pm)
High Rollers (Charcoal) vs. Ballz N Dollz (Heliconia): After a
couple tough games, the High Rollers were looking to bounce back, and boy did
they bounce high in this one. Matt Dea sealed the deal for the High Rollers in the
bottom of the 5th with a bases loaded triple, and from there on out his
team could coast to victory. Kickball analyst Jay Bilas said after the game, “I
am picking the High Rollers as one of my dark horses in this year’s bracket.
They know how to win, now they just need to put the pieces together.” High Rollers win 9-0.
Edora Park Field 3 (6pm)
A Night at the Roxbury (Black) vs. Where My Pitches At (Purple): What
a game! A Night at the Roxbury stormed out to an early 3-0 lead after the top
of the 1st inning on a three run home run by Davis Jarvis. (The sun
might have given him an assist on that one…) But would it be enough??? Where My
Pitches At would finally tie up the game in the bottom of the 5th
inning on a score by Ryan Williams... However the MVP of the game this time was
Spencer Hellwig from Where My Pitches At—his walk-off run in the bottom of the
7th ensured his team’s comeback victory! Hellwig commented after the game, “I think our
team is really poised to make some noise in the playoffs because we BELIEVE in
each other. Pitches stick together!” Where
My Pitches At wins 4-3.
Edora Park Field 4 (6pm)
Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Light Pink) vs. Oilers SLTI (Daisy
Yellow): Another nailbiter! The Oilers SLTI jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but
Little Lebowski Urban Achievers were determined to keep things close with plays
such as Troy “Sure-armed” Armstead’s diving catch as the pitcher in the bottom
of the 3rd inning. Then Little Lebowski Urban Achievers brought the
thunder with Trevor “The Ball Slinger” Kurzinger’s base-clearing
inside-the-park home run in the top of the 5th inning that gave his
team the lead 6-5! Finally the MVP from Fall 2014, Adam “The Iron Horse” Morse
from the Oilers SLTI, took over. Morse had a key strikeout as pitcher in the
top of the 7th inning, and then a walkoff RBI in the bottom of the 7th!!!
Let’s hope for another rematch in the finals… Oilers SLTI wins 7-6.
Edora Park Field 1 (7pm)
Florida Mike and the Free Ballers (Lime) vs. Check Out My Big Kick (Maroon): More close games!!! Despite Florida
Mike and the Free Ballers being undermanned, they were able to keep things
tight while up against the veterans on Check Out My Big Kick. Brady Andersen’s
diving catch in center field in the top of the 4th inning for Check
Out My Big Kick kept Florida Mike and the Free Ballers at bay for awhile, but those
Free Ballers would eventually tie up the game in the top of the 7th
inning. Right afterwards though, Jordan Thompson from Check Out My Big Kick
rose to the occasion with a walk-off run following a key bunt (and some helpful
errors along the way). See
the superbly executed play here! Check
Out My Big Kick wins 4-3.
Edora Park Field 2 (7pm)
Just Kickin It (Old Gold) vs. Kicktease (Red): Kicktease wins by forfeit 3-0.
Edora Park Field 3 (7pm)
New Kicks on the Block (White) vs. RiKICKulous (Irish Green): There was an offensive and defensive MVP in
this game… But what would win out—offense or defense? Brian Jackson secured
offensive MVP honors for New Kicks on the Block with a three-run home run in
the top of the 1st inning and a two-run home run in the top of 7th
inning. From the other dugout, Franchesca Lata was clearly the defensive MVP
for RiKICKulous as she made multiple catches at short stop for outs—jumping
catches, catches on line drives, pop flies, you name it. Unlike with championships
though, offense won on this day. New Kicks on the Block wins 8-3.
Edora Park Field 4 (7pm)
Grassholes (Carolina Blue) vs. Bobs Your Uncle
(Violet): The Grassholes were taking no prisoners in this one as they tried
to add to their newly enhanced winning ways. Bobs Your Uncle fought them the
whole game though, including great defense in the outfield from Ethan “All
About That” Basbiere and a great RBI single by Brandi “The Wo” Mann. However, a
grand slam from Matt “The Tiny One” Timmons on the Grassholes in the bottom of
the 4th inning pretty much crushed any hope for Bob’s Your Uncle… So
close yet so far! Grassholes win 9-4.
