Wednesday Cuernavaca - Week 1 - Highlights

Cuernavaca Field 1 6PM

Step Parents(Royal Blue) vs. Kickin Uglies(Sapphire Blue):
Welcome back to our first night of Summer Wednesday Regular kickball and what an interesting season we are looking forward to! For our first game of the night we have a very veteran team VS. a new team in this matchup. The Parents weren’t too happy about their outcome in the spring 5280 cup and wanted to start off the season right. They came out kickin in the very first inning and scored 5 across the plate to set a precedent that they were here to play. The Parents held the Uglies scoreless in the bottom of the first and when it was their turn to bat again in the top of the second Kickin wasn’t going to let them have it so easy this time. They got some help from Shannon Milhaupt who had a beautiful running over the shoulder catch to get the third out and only allow the parents to score 1 in the top. There were more fireworks in the top of the 3rd when Nathaniel Perkowski from Parents came up to bat with 1 runner on and kicked a booming Homer to increase their lead to 8-0. Kickin just didn’t get on track today and just kept letting the Parents slowly chip away at them inning after inning without being able to score anything themselves. In the top of the 6th Mr. Perkowski showed off his skills again for the Parents by slamming one just out of reach for the outfielders and claiming his second home run of the day to extend their lead even more and that was all it took to claim the win. Step Parents Wins 12-0.

Isotopes(Maroon) vs. Put it in the Bunt(Neon Yellow):
For our second game of the night we also have a new team joining us who has been together for a while from another league and a very good veteran team who did well in the spring cup. Isotopes came out swinging and wanted to show Go Kickball how they do things. In the top of the third they brought 5 runs across the plate to start off the game and when Bunt came up in the bottom they shut them down and held them scoreless. In the top of the 2nd the newcomers did it again by bringing another 3 home to extend their lead 8-0. It wasn’t until the bottom of the 3rd that Bunt showed up on the board and with the help of a triple from Mike Koenck they scored their first 2 of the game. The Isotopes answered back with a RBI of their own in the top of the 4th and then continued to shut down the Bunt in the bottom of the inning. After taking their lead in the top of the 5th to 11-2 Isotopes finally let up on the Bunt and Larissa Lindberg had a perfectly placed 2 run RBI double to try to catch back up. Mike came back up after Larissa and went with a SAC fly to score their final run of the game and that was all she wrote for these two teams. Isotopes Wins 11-5.

Punani Patrol (Neon Pink) vs. No Rubber Lovers (Tropical Blue):
Well it seems like this league is full of newcomers and we would like to welcome the No Rubber Lovers to Go Kickball. Punani came in full force today and Tony even brought his little ones to cheer them on! In the top of the first the Patrol scored their first with the help of Captain Jeff Cornetet after a great RBI to start them off. The Patrol then held off the Lovers in the bottom of the first and showed them what it was going to be like to play in this league. Jeff was back at it again in the top of the 3rd with a booming Homer that brought in 2 off base as well to extend their lead 4-0. No one scored for the next couple innings until the top of the 6th when Punani put the final nails in the coffin and brought 2 more home. Going into the bottom of the 7th the Lovers needed a miracle to pull it off since they were down 6-0 but Jeff and his Punani had something different to say and they went 3 up 3 down with Jeff getting the final out by catching a foul ball with his left hand and his ear. Punani Patrol Wins 6-0.
