Sunday Funday - Week 5 Highlights

That One Team vs. Mile High Kickballers:  To say that the Mile High Kickballers dominated on Sunday just doesn’t do the game justice… As usual, Brett Stanilka rocked his awesome mustache and pitched shut down ball.  Cary Kohout got on base consistently and Lacy Moore made the big kicks when it counted - one of those kicks came in the 3rd when Mile High hit 5th gear on offense and scored 3 runs to extend the lead to 5-1.   They added 2 more in the 7th and finished up the game by giving up a run to the relentless That One Team.  Mile High Kickballers wins 7-2.

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Ballsagna: Just like Mile High Kickballers, Fresh Kicks came into Sunday sporting a 4-0 record. Playing slightly shorthanded, they knew staying undefeated would be a challenge.  They met that challenge face on in the 1st playing with only 2 outs on offense. Brandon Frawley managed to make his way home in the first to give Fresh Kicks an early lead.  But, that lead didn’t last long as defensive errors helped Ballsagna hang 3 runs in the inning and take a 3-1 lead.  Fresh Kicks quickly cut the lead to 1 in the 2nd but Ballsanga added another run in the 3rd thanks to Dan Burdick and his crafty foot.  Fresh Kicks got that run back in the 4th to cut the lead to 4-3 but it was at this point that both offenses went dormant.  Ballsanga wins 4-3.

Kevin Bacon vs. Wasted Talent:  Wasted Talent wins 3-0, forfeit.

Wednesday Cuernavaca Park - Week 5 Highlights

Step Parents vs. Hose Draggers:  The Step Parents were after their first victory of the season and were able to start things off on the right foot by posting 4 on the board in the top of 1st.  However, led by Heather CapoBianco’s RBI single, the Hose Draggers countered right back with 4 runs of their own in the 1st.  The Step Parents recaptured the lead in the 2nd , then extended it in the 3rd.  Then, things started to go in the Hose Draggers favor, as they were helped majorly by Chad’s defense to slowly cut away at the Step Parents’ lead.  An opportunity for the Hose Draggers to tie up the game and win came in the 7th, and boy did they seize the opportunity!!  David Bayouth gave the Hose Draggers their first lead of the game with his massive walk-off single to win the game!!!  Hose Draggers wins 9-8.

Dice vs. Punani Patrol.  Well boys and girls, this one wasn’t pretty…Punani Patrol got smacked around pretty good by the fighting Justin Andrew Anderson.  Dice recorded 5 runs in the 1st and would have had more if it wasn’t for the most unlucky out at 3rd by Joe “Muscle Hamster” Robertson.  It’s also worth noting that Matt Griffen blasted a monster 2-run homer to leftfield that was closer to the port-a-potty that the fielder when it landed.  After going scoreless in the 2nd , Dice hung a 4 spot in the 3rd and extended lead to 9-0.  It was at this point that Nathan “Noodles” Newell  started to lose his composure and allowed another 3 Dice runs across the board. Up 12-0, Dice let off the gas a little bit and only scored 3 runs in the final 3 innings.  Dice wins 15-0.

Memorial Ballpark - Week 5 Highlights

Lights Out vs. Kickboxing Kickballers: As the regular season draws closer to the end, these teams have one goal in mind: solidify their playoff position. Lights Out rocked the KBKB defense for 6 runs in just the first inning! KBKB responded with a bloop single RBI to get on the board. Defenses were in playoff form as a fantastic double play in the top of the second by KBKB kept the Lights Out offense off the board. Wes Wilhelm was impressive as always on the mound, fanning the KBKB batters in the 2nd and 3rd. KBKB used an extremely rare Lights Out error in the bottom of the 4th to bring home their second run of the game. John Arroyo decided to ice the game singlehandedly, booting a skyrocket RBI triple in the 6th to keep Lights Out in the W column. Lights Out wins, 7-2.

Bazinga vs SchoolYard AllStars: Bazinga returned to playoff form this week with SYAS bringing an unparalleled defensive game this week. These teams went blow for blow on defense, with Bazinga starting the game with a 4-3 double play and keeping the All Stars off the basepath. Matt Sayar of SYAS sangged the 1st out of the bottom of the 1st with a diving catch of his own. Bazinga would later score in the inning. Double plays were in the deck for Bazinga as they pulled a little deja vu on SYAS in the 2nd. Bazinga went to their soft kitty (dressed as pumpkins) scoring spree and racked up 4 runs in the 2nd. SYAS was kept quiet for most of the game and hoped to keep Bazinga contained, but a 2 run 4th and an inside the park HR in the 5th catapulted Bazinga to a powerful 8-0 lead. Mason Boggs came through as the savior for SYAS with an incredible home run in the 6th. Inspired by Masons well doing, Katie Fransioli made an emphatic outfield catch to keep Bazinga in check. Bazinga wins, 8-1.

Pitches Be Crazy vs Chocolate Sensation: Pitches Be Crazy was able to keep Chocolate Sensation off the board in the 1st while taking advantage of kicks into the gap and scoring 3 early runs. CS was sensing pressure from a stout PBC squad and again were turned away in the 2nd. Bo Kelly made his return in week 5and blasted a lunar shot to left center field to cap a 2 run 2nd, 5-0 PBC. CS wasn't about to go down without a fight, yet PBC stonewalled them again in the 3rd, while adding another run for themselves, 6-0 PBC. CS wasn’t in familiar territory and knew they needed a spark. They found the weak link in the PBC defensive armor and brought home 2 in the 4th. Penny Whisenhunt was a motivated woman for CS and made a Willie Mays outfield catch to put PBC on notice. In the end, the PBC defense prevailed as CS wasn't able to bring home any more runs. Pitches Be Crazy wins, 6-2.

Saved By The Ball vs Super Eagles:  On paper, these teams are about even in every aspect, which made this game even more intriguing. Saved By the Ball went back in time to the 80's, while the Super Eagles channeled their inner Peyton Manning AND Tim Tebow. The Eagles went to work in the 1st, putting together a great scoring drive and getting 6 on the board. SBTB was able to turn a double play on the bottom of the 2nd to keep the Eagles off the board. SBTB turned into offense in the 3rd as they scratched 1 run across. The Eagles weren't happy as they converted on a 2 run double to go up 8-1. All was good defensively in the 4th as neither team was able to score, but from the 5th inning on, it was a different story. Bottom of the 5th, and the Eagles solidified their lead as Chris Vinley blasted a grand slam to seal an 8 run 5th, increasing their lead to 16-1. The 6th inning saw a lot of the same (and a lot of Tebowing) as the Eagles used a lethal combo of short bunts and long bombs to put up 12 runs, which made a big lead even bigger. SBTB hoped to regain some offense in the 7th and were able to slide 1 across before the game ended. Super Eagles win 28-2.

CareCore vs Hangin With Patch Adams: Hangin With Patch Adams came to the field ready to make a push for the playoffs, but CareCore wasn't able to field a team. Hangin With Patch Adams wins 3-0.

Lee Martinez Park - Week 5 Highlights

Girls Love Big Kicks (Cactus Green) vs. 2 Legit 2 Kick (Athletic Gray): Kickball is supposed to be fun, right? At least during this contest, both teams seemed to get their “fun quotient” for the day!!! 2 Legit 2 Kick (aka the Zombie Doctors) came out with a defensive mindset, knowing they would have to rein in the heavy hitters on Girls Love Big Kicks’ squad. Through three innings, things were looking pretty good, with Katherine Meis's line drive catch at 3rd base definitely qualifying as a highlight for 2 Legit 2 Kick. Unfortunately, when the 4th inning rolled around, Girls Love Big Kicks brought out the heavy guns as Steve Walker crushed a grand slam to really open up things. Walker was followed by Drew Nelson’s solo home run to lead off the 5th inning for Girls Love Big Kicks. Nelson secured game MVP honors with his many sure-handed snags at 3rd base in addition to another 3-run home run in the top of the 6th inning. In the end though, it’s all just FUN and GAMES. Girls Love Big Kicks wins 17-0.

Social License to Intoxicate (Carolina Blue) vs. Skies Out Thighs Out (Sapphire Blue): With the sun and sky out in full force on this fall evening, Skies Out Thighs Out made sure to show some extra thigh while dressing up as inappropriately garbed garden gnomes. The spectacle certainly seemed to bedazzle the quasi-food-themed Social License to Intoxicate, as Mac “Thunder Thighs” Fuller from Skies Out Thighs Out was able to crush an out of the park 2-run home run in the top of the 1st inning to tie up the game. After 1st inning though, Skies Out Thighs Out really struggled on offense as Social License to Intoxicate tried their best to avoid the other team’s distraction tactics. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Social License to Intoxicate really stepped it up with Kevin “Thumb Warrior” Warner making a great finger tip grab catch for an out and Ryan “Double Trouble” Hollinshead completing a double play to end the game!!! Wowzza! Social License to Intoxicate wins 6-2.

KickTease (Red) vs. Muddy Wing Tippers (Charcoal): Once again KickTease proceeded to tease itself with just a 1-0 taste of the lead through two innings before the Muddy Wing Tippers would go on to score four runs in the 3rd inning and never look back. On the defensive side of the ball for the first place Muddy Wing Tippers, Kelsey Blakkan-Strauss built a metaphorical house of bricks that kept KickTease from scoring by making a great catch to end the 3rd inning . She followed that performance by completing another jaw-dropping catch to end the 4th inning when KickTease had the bases loaded. The Captain for KickTease, Sara Atkinson, said after the game, “The Muddy Wing Tippers played great in their construction-themed outfits… Maybe next time though for theme week, we would play better if we didn’t have to run around with 15-pound pumpkins on our heads that blocked our ability to catch and kick the ball. Just a thought…” Now that’s a well thought out plan! Muddy Wing Tippers win 9-1.

Ballbarians (Cardinal Red) vs. Odd Balls (Purple): What a nailbiter! What a display of competitive spirit!!! Coming into this one, the Ballbarians were looking to rebound from a couple of tough losses the past two weeks, but the Odd Balls weren’t ready to concede defeat so easily. The Super Hero-themed Odd Balls really took their costumes to heart as they played with super strength and speed from the outset, as evidenced by Tom Torres’ inside the park home run in the 1st inning. Going into the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Odd Balls were winning 3-2, but then Ballbarians were able to harness the power of the ooze and sneak in two runs to take the lead as only a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle can. Now all they had to do was hold on for dear life…. Famed kickball enthusisast, Goldmember (from that one Austin Powers movie) was quoted as saying that both teams played “as tight as a tiger” throughout. In the end though, a particularly tight defensive outing in the 7th inning sealed it for the Ninja Turtles. The Ballbarians win 4-3.

Zuni Park - Week 5 Highlights

Menace 2 Sobriety vs. Highlanders: Dave Muyer from Menace 2 Sobriety gave the game a sobering start with a home run in the top of the 1st. Over the next two innings, Menace's solid offense was able to extend their lead to 5-0. Then in the bottom of the 3rd inning, things took a turn when the Highlanders got their offense rolling with four runs, to sneak back in the game. This offensive outburst was highlighted by Bryan Tierney's 2-RBI's. The score remained the same until the bottom of the 5th inning, when the Highlanders plated two more runs and took the lead 6-5. The Highlanders weren't done yet. In the bottom of the next inning, the Highlanders extended their lead by scoring four more runs, 10-5. The Highlanders kept up their tight defense and closed this game out. Highlanders wins 10-5.

Backdoor Ohoolihans vs. Not in the Face: What a great game!  Backdoor came out kicking with a fury and were able to score four runs. Two of which came from a Stephen Blann home run! Face responded in the bottom half of the 1st with two runs of their own to close the gap to 4-2. At this point, both teams found their 'D' and flopped it all around, leading to the next 4 1/2 innings of scoreless play. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning, Face's Robbie Leonhardt kicked a SAC fly to bring his team within one run, 4-3. Unfortunately for Face, Backdoor's 'D' was a little bit bigger and helped them hang on for the victory. Props to both pitchers who played stellar games - Stephen Blann for Backdoor and Robbie Leonhardt for Face. Backdoor Ohoolihans wins 4-3.

Sunday Funday - Week 4 Highlights

On a day where an NFL Sunday win was going to show us where the balance of the league was, we too were defined in our play.  Remember, everyone gets better if they work on it, and some teams have had 4 years to do it!!  Sunday Funday is by far our best kickball experience from weather, to teams, to games…ahhh what a relief it is to have Sunday Funday!!

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Wasted Talent:  Garrett Deheer showed up in this one – he started the game out with a 2-run HR, later smacked a solo shot, and then made an amazing diving catch in foul left for the out…Garrett here’s your game ball!!  Now go watch the Packers play terribly J!!  Deheer was followed by a 3-run shot by Brad “I don’t care unless I kick a homerun” Calloway, and another 3-run shot by Brandon Frawley.  Just remember, FKOBA all have soccer backgrounds, HOWEVER the kicking display in this one (meaning no bunting – all kicks), was probably the best we will see all year.  They would admit the results were great but they also deserve credit for it too…nice work Fresh Kicks…very impressive display of booting!!  Wasted Talent learned a ton in this game, and did put it into play late in the matchup, but FKOBA was on fire…no one would have beat this team in this game!!  Fresh Kicks of Ball Air wins 12-1.

Kevin Bacon vs. Mile High Kickballers:  Kick off your Sunday shoes, dammit!!! At least these gals should, maybe that would slow them down a bit!  Mile High DEFINITELY laces up their shoes on Sunday Funday and puts on a “How to bunt effectively, efficiently, and effortlessly WHILE still being a lady” seminar…come out this Sunday to see it again!!  Followed by, “How to play error free kickball with style, sophistication, and spunk!!”  These leading ladies started their matchup on a wonderful Sunday morning getting through their lineups twice in 2 innings and scoring 7 runs.  Yes, we have moments from the “lesser halves” on this team too, but we definitely know who wears the pants…but we’ll still give credit to Stanilka’s running, beer-in-hand catch in foul territory…always impressive, this kid is…opponents breathed WTF when he caught that ball…Stanilka, you are now confined to beers in BOTH hands!!  Kevin Bacon mounted a come back late and scored 1, but Mile High ran the clinic.  Mile High Kickballers wins 10-1.

Ballsagna vs. That One Team:  This was definitely the game of the week!!  Dan Burdick got Ballsagna on the right track with an RBI single and later scored to get Ballsagna the early lead 2-0.  That One Team instantly responded with 2 runs of their own and suddently we had a game on our hands!!  Justin Spanbauer of TOT and Dan Burdick of Balls both pitched excellent bouts in this match up – Justin has a low right-handed delivery that cuts the ball to the right-footed kickers inside corner, and Dan has a higher left-handed delivery with an extra “tweak” at release that sends the ball into turbulence!!  The Ballsagna group kept their focus in this one and didn’t abort from their original game plan…executing great ball placement and aggressive base running to give them more opportunities to score!!  This is exactly what happened, and even against the stylistic pitching of Spanbauer, scored 2 more runs to go up 4-2 in the 5th inning.  Even the “people from the newspaper” were commenting about the togetherness of Ballsagna – we were impressed and Manager of the Year comments were swirling for skipper, Ashley Moore.  Of course, it’s not over until…well, in this case for GO Kickball, the bottom of the 7th inning is completed and the score is tied – duh!  Going into the bottom of the 7th inning the score was 4-2 Ballsagna and many of the fans were even gathering their items for departure.  However, the TOT crew had another plan and they went to work!  TOT was able to get base runners and score 1 to cut the lead to 1 run…Spanbauer came up, took 1 and fouled 1, on the 3rd pitch he smacked the ball in the gap scoring 1.  Then Hallie Myers came up, the crowd was going crazy, everything went into slow motion like it was a movie, and Hallie belted a 2-run walk off for the win, the celebration-pandemonium started!!  That One Team wins 5-4.

Memorial Ballpark - Week 4 Highlights

KickBoxing KickBallers vs CareCore: CareCore wasn't able to field a team this week. KickBoxing Kickballers wins 3-0.

Lights Out vs Hangin with Patch Adams: Lights Out and Hangin with Patch Adams entered week 4 looking to bolster their post season positioning. LO put a 3 spot up on HPA in the top of the 1st. HPA went up to the plate with smiles but were set down 1-2-3 in the 1st AND the 2nd. Top 3, still a 3-0 LO lead, and John Arroyo sends the ball to deep centerfield, and thanks to his speed, beats the throw home for a 3 run home run. LO belted home 2 more in the inning to go up 8-0. Wes Wilhelm and company kept the defense rolling and had a no hitter through 3 innings. HPA was able to keep LO off the board in the 4th, however, their primary focus was to get on base. LO was still in a no hit bid, until a dribbler down the 3rd base line and a photo close play at first broke the shut out! HPA pulled off a sensational diving catch in centerfield to keep LO from a scoring streak in the 5th. HPA was able to convert on an overthrow at 1st to get a run in the bottom of the 5th, but LO would get the final say in this game, as a single run in the 6th spelled victory. Lights Out wins, 10-1.

Saved By The Ball vs SchoolYard AllStars: Both teams came into the week refreshed and ready to bash some red ball!!! SYAS scored a quick 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The 2nd inning was quiet for both teams, but the 3rd had fireworks. SYAS wanted to solidify a win early, and appeared to do so by scoring an enormous 8 runs in the inning to go up by 10. SBTB searched for answers and were able to respond with a run of their own in the 4th to at least get on the board. The game went quiet on offense until the 6th inning. SYAS put the exclamation point on the game as they scored 2 more in the 6th. But SBTB is not one to just lay down, as they were able to scratch 3 more runs at the end. SchoolYard AllStars wins, 12-4.

Super Eagles vs Chocolate Sensation: Both teams were coming off wins last week and wanted to build a streak. The Eagles struck 1st with a run in the 1st. Chocolate Sensation answered back with 3 in the bottom of the 1st. The Eagles kept their composure and scored another in the 2nd to close the gap to 1. CS wanted to break away, and were able to get 2 runs across. The Eagles were silenced in the 3rd, but weren't able to stop CS from scoring 3 more to go up 8-2. CS went soaring high in the bottom of the 4th as they sent a 7 run flurry down upon the Eagles to go up 15-2. The Eagles weren’t about to go down without a fight as they mustered another run in the 6th. CS put the finishing touches on the game with 5 more runs in the 6th. Chocolate Sensation wins, 20-4.

Pitches Be Crazy vs Bazinga: Bazinga experienced their first loss in 2 seasons last week, so with that as momentum, they showed up to the field with a vengeance. Bazinga quickly put the loss behind them, with 3 runs scored in the 1st. They struck again in the 2nd, but PBC wasn't going to give up the game that easily, and they were able to get a 2 run boot to put the game at 4-2. Bazinga went back on offense, or thought they were, but a Brianne Fatavella’s impressive line drive catch stopped them in their tracks. PBC scored 3 critical runs and went up by 1. Bazinga used an array of hits, belted 3 more runs in to reestablish the lead 7-5. Keith Hausam’s Grand Slam capped off a 5 run 6th, and solidified the win for Bazinga. Bazinga wins, 12-5.

Lee Martinez Park - Week 4 Highlights

Odd Balls (Purple) vs. 2 Legit 2 Kick (Athletic Gray): Typically, the wiley veterans on the Oddball stick to the ground as they try to outsmart their opponents with their knowledge of the art of kickball. During this game though, they took to the air as Michael “Bash Brother #1” Sieg crushed a 2-run home run in the top of the 2nd inning before Norwin “Bash Brother #2” Restrepo boomed a 3-run homer in the top of the 7th inning. However, the SportsCenter top play of the day came when Tracy Hickey from 2 Legit 2 Kick made a truly legit diving catch to end things in the top of the 7th inning. Let’s just say, it will undoubtedly be nominated for an ESPY for “Play of the Year”. In the end though, the Oddballs win 15-0.

Muddy Wing Tippers (Charcoal) vs. Skies Out Thighs Out (Sapphire Blue): The Muddy Wing Tippers have been on-fire offensively as of late, and they came out extra crispy in this contest with a 7-run first inning!! From there on out, the Muddy Wing Tippers just had to put the metaphorical defensive clamps on the Skies Out Thighs Out’s kicking game. Adam Shoemaker from the Muddy Wing Tippers stood out with a “punch out” from third to first base in the 2nd inning. However, Skies Out Thighs Out proceeded to match the defensive intensity of the Muddy Wing Tippers with a fingertip catch by TC Dinkins to end the top of the 3rd inning as well as a diving catch by Mac Fuller in the top of the 6th inning. Unfortunately though, Skies Out Thighs Out just simply forgot to bring out the offense. Captain of Skies Out Thights Out, Rachel Timmons, said after the game: “We know our offense stalled in this one, so that’s why we will make sure to kick as many balls as possible during next week’s practices in preparation for next Wednesday’s game.” Muddy Wing Tippers wins 12-1.

KickTease (Red) vs. Girls Love Big Kicks (Cactus Green): In a battle of these experienced kickball squads, the superior offensive abilities of Girls Love Big Kicks quickly became evident soon after the whistle. After taking a 1-run lead into the bottom of the 1st inning, KickTease would never be on top again as Girls Love Big Kicks scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Maiki Vlahinos and Steve Walker from Girls Love Big Kicks would both nail dingers that cleared the bases early on, thereby ensuring that the top of the 1st was only a tease for KickTease’s plans for victory. Kickball analyst Chris Berman eloquently said after the game, “Girls Love Big Kicks won this game because they scored more runs than KickTease. End of story.” Thanks for that expert analysis Chris! Girls Love Big Kicks wins 10-2.

Ballbarians (Cardinal Red) vs. Social License to Intoxicate (Carolina Blue): Sometimes the kickball bounces your way, and sometimes it doesn’t. In this matchup, the kickball always seemed to be bouncing away from the Ballbarians in their attempts to contain the speed and dexterity of Social License to Intoxicate. For Social License to Intoxicate, the MVP of the game was David Smith, who not only made an amazing fingertip grab in the bottom of the 3rd inning, but also because he helped inspire his team onto victory with his cool head and hot legs. Captain of the Social License to Intoxicate, Michael Schwarz, was very pleased with how his squad played overall: “I think we are really rounding into shape as a team. We were a little rough around the edges at the beginning of the season, but our weekly practice regimen is really starting to pay off when it comes to the “little things”, like kicking the ball as hard as humanly possible every single time.” Social License to Intoxicate wins 8-2.

Wednesday Cuernavaca Park - Week 4 Highlights

Dice vs. Step Parents:  Dice wasted no time getting revved up by scoring 2 runs in the 1st, led by The Man, The Myth, The Legend:  Joe Robertson.  Dice added another run in the second to extend the lead to 3-0.  Step Parents was finally able to get on board the scoring train in the 3rd, and doubled up Dice to end the inning trailing  4-1.  Then, Justin Andrew Anderson turned up the heat in the 3rd going 3 up/3 down and striking out the last batter.  Dice added 3 more runs and then turned on cruise control to coast to the finish line.  Dice wins 8-2.

Punani Patrol vs. Hose Draggers:  With both teams playing shorthanded, this turned into a battle of endurance for both squads.  Nathan Newell brought Punani to quick 3-0 lead.  Hose Draggers batting with only 2 outs struggled early to produce base runners, but tied the game up in the 3rd at 3-3.  Hose Draggers’ Chris Sliva turned up the highlight reel in the 4th by making an amazing catch to quiet the Punani threat.  Derrick Keeton then blasted a deep shot to left center to give Hose Draggers their first lead of the game.  They carried a 6-3 lead into the top of 7th but walked out of it tied up at 6-6, as Punani found their offensive juice after 5 innings of sobriety.  The game carried into the dusk of the Denver sky and both teams played solid defense in the 8th and 9th innings.  After some aggressive & exciting base running, the Hose Draggers walked off the 10th with the win.  Hose Draggers wins 7-6.

Zuni Park - Week 4 Highlights

Backdoor Ohoolihans vs. Menace 2 Sobriety - Menace 2 Sobriety started the scoring in this game in the bottom of the 1st inning with a Brett LaTulip 2-run HR. Both teams played good 'D' in the 2nd and 3rd innings to keep the score at 2-0. Backdoor's Jared Wright recorded all three outs for his team in the bottom of the 2nd. Then in the top of the 4th inning, Backdoor got a lead off triple by Stephen Blan. His team would move him across the plate along with two others to take a 3-2 lead. Menace answered with Whitney Kanus scoring from 2nd base in the bottom of the 4th to again tie the game, 3-3. Backdoor's Stephen Blan came back up in the top the 5th inning and booted a go ahead 2-run HR to give his team the lead. Menace managed one more run in the bottom of the inning but that was the end of this chess match. Backdoor scored one more insurance run in the top of the 7th to solidify the win.  Backdoor Ohoolihans wins 6-4.

Highlanders vs. Not in the Face - What a great game!!! Not in the Face got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Highlanders answered with one of their own in the top of the 2nd to make it a 3-1 game. The score remained static until the top of the 4th inning when Highlanders plated 3 runs to take the lead, 4-3. Highlanders was all about that ‘D’ and kept it tight in the bottom of the inning. Then in the top of the 5th inning, Highlanders' Brian Tierney kicked a solo HR and the rest of the team scored one to stretch their lead to 6-3. But in the bottom of the 5th inning, Face found their kicks and put up five runs, 8-6. That was highlighted by Scott Flourance's 2-run HR. Highlanders made a strong push in the last inning to close the gap but it just wasn't enough. Not in the Face wins, 8-7.

Sunday Funday - Week 3 Highlights

That One Team vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air:  Although this game ended up being close, the game was decided before it even started with a forfeit due to an ineligible team.  If any of you know a few guys and girls that would like to come out and play some kickball on Sunday, we have a team in need here.  Players getting married, Honeymoons, and shenanigans are not helping out That One Team as of late…let us know if you have someone to participate!!  Fresh Kicks of Ball Air wins 3-0.

Kevin Bacon vs. Ballsagna:  The real winner in this game was Kevin Bacon because they kept their clothes on!!  Ballsagna was showing skin all over the place, admittedly Dan’s abs were impressive, but we had boobs hanging out and the “evasive balls” were just too much (inside joke for some).  Wanna talk about “evasive balls,” Ballsagna scored 19 runs in this one!!  Mat Peterson dropped a ball on right field with his left foot for a 2-run shot in this one and we knew at that point it was all Ballsagna for dinner in this one!  Ballsagna wins 19-0.

Mile High Kickballers vs. Wasted Talent:  Both teams cordially shook hands to start this one out, but really we think they were sizing the competition up.  Each team scored 1 run in the 1st inning and then we waited for a couple innings to see what would happen…was anyone going to score in this one again?!!  Then, the on slot of runs came for Mile High…it’s always the one inning that makes the difference – trust us, WE KNOW.  The one inning where the base runners are aggressive, errors start happening, and the defense starts throwing the ball all over…that’s the one inning that makes the difference.  Kickball 101, the team that goes through the whole game without having this “one bad inning,” is usually the victor in a close matchup and that is what happened in this one.  Mile High capitalized on the bad inning by scoring 5 runs to take a commanding lead… and never looked back.  Mile High Kickballers wins 8-2.

Mile High Kickballers vs. Ballsagna:  Mat Peterson came to the mound in this one and was pitching some sick curves…however, Mile High was how high?!?  “Mile High!” After winning their tournament in California the weekend before, we’re not sure if these gals (and guy(s)) are coming down from that high any time soon!!  Players and teams beware!!!  Out of 6 innings to score in, Mile High scored in 5!  Dan Linn made a great cameo appearance for the team, and we took a pic to prove it…check it out!!  This Mile High crew is going to be tuff all year!!  Mile High Kickballers wins 11-1.

Wednesday Cuernavaca - Week 3 Highlights

Step Parents vs. Punani Patrol:  Did you see the picture??  You didn’t see the picture??!!  Are you checking out the shots on FB?  Tony Lusk gots hops, getting waaaay up there in the top of the 3rd inning for the unassisted double play at 1st base!  Now THAT was something to write home about! Tony, show your fam that you still belong on that kickball field (at least every once in a while)!!  The analyst booth has been talking all week about the new and improved structure of Punani Patrol…have they been able to get people in the right positions for this team to take it to the next level?  Analysts agree that this team is taking a step in the right direction, but will this team show up every week?  The talk on Punani has been consistent that they can’t play error-free defense, and they still try to throw the ball at the runner vs. to the base, and we never know what team is going to show each night.  We gotta give it to the group this week and say, IF this is going to be the consistent makeup of this group, and IF the lockdown D can continue WITH unselfish kicking…we are moving this group up in Power Rankings for sure!!  Very impressive group effort this past week and we’re excited to see it!!  Russell Thesing made his mark in this one with a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 4th inning but this team manufactured 5 more runs on top of that…we’d have to say it was a good day!!  Scott Singer stopped a shutout by smacking a solo shot for Step Parents in the top of the 6th inning...clutch even with the L…again, Punani was probably not beatable on this night.  Punani Patrol wins 9-1.

Dice vs. Hose Draggers:  Ever see a bunch of talent organized by a great captain…oh yea, we see that every week with Dice.  Ever see a bunch of talent organized by a lot of blame on each other…yup, there’s trouble in Hose Dragger town and this locker room is in disarray.  All the talent in the world comes with the showing of Hose Draggers without the direction to bind it.  HD, we wanna see you in High Definition, but until there’s a little pre-week preparation we’re wondering if we’re only gonna get Standard Definition each week???  The highlight of this night was an easy one…Kyle Boyd came out for a solid pitching performance against a heavy hitting HD arsenal…nice work Kyle…HD was scoreless for 5 of 7 innings of play!!  Dice had 9 runs scored in 5 innings before HD could make it home.  Matt Graffam started the on-slot with a 3 run jack and the team followed his lead.  Lee Gullickson saaaamashed a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the 7th for HD, but that needed to be the start of the game!!  WE WANNA SEE HD IN HD!!!  Dice wins 10-4.

Zuni Park - Week 3 Highlights

Menace 2 Sobriety vs. Not In The Face:  When you hear the names like Loomis, Leonhardt, Mickael, and Phillips you’re instantly thinking, this is gonna be a good game.  Vegas had this game with no spread; you just needed to decide who was going to win this one!!  With both teams having years of experience and stellar defense we figured it might come down to whoever made the 1st error in this one.  The game was scoreless through 2 innings when this happened and Menace was the benefactor, of errors by Not In The Face, and their own aggressive base running scoring 3 runs in the 3rd inning to take a commanding lead.  Face answered with one run in the bottom of the 4th inning to bring the game to 3-1.  Mickael and Co. answered right back in the top of the 5th with 2 runs and 1 more in the 7th bringing the score to 6-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.  Not In The Face was feeling “rally time,” and brought their whole arsenal scoring 3 runs for a great comeback attempt, however it wasn’t enough to cover the deficit.  Menace 2 Sobriety wins 6-4.

Highlanders vs. Backdoor Ohoulihans:  Alysha Beckie had BO (that’s Backdoor Ohoulihans) on the board 1st in this one with a 2 RBI smack to take the early 2-0 lead.  It wasn’t until the 3rd inning when Highlanders started figuring out the snazzy pitching style of BO and who better to teach the team than Cappy Elliot Hasse?  Elliot started the scoring frenzy in the top of the 3rd inning with 2 RBI’s and Highlanders then scored at least 1 run every inning for the next 5 innings!!!  Way to lead the troops Elliot!!  In the top of the 4th inning, BO’s Mitch Lamke (also Cappy) kept Highlanders from scoring 2 runs by snagging an unassisted double-play, however Highlanders scored 7-runs in 5 innings and we’re only matched by 2 more from the talented Backdoor group.  Highlanders win 7-4.

Memorial Ballpark - Week 3 Highlights

SchoolYard AllStars vs. Kickboxing Kickballers: The weather made this contest a lot more entertaining as the game progressed, as blowing winds and a drizzle added a few new elements. KBKB hoped the wind at their backs would help on offense, but were turned away to some phenomenal outfield catches. SYAS converted in the bottom half of the 1st, putting one on the board. In the 2nd, Paul Ballweber from SYAS converted a sensational double play at 1st and at 3rd to keep KBKB scoreless. The game tied up in the 3rd after KBKB learned to kick away from Paul. In the top of the 4th, a rocket to Matt Sayar and a heads up dive back to first got SYAS out of the jam. SYAS struck quickly, scoring 2 in the bottom of the 4th to go up 3-1. KBKB wouldn't go away though, striking back with 2 in the 5th to tie it again. SYAS took control from there, scoring in the 5th and 6th, and putting the game on ice. SchoolYard AllStars win, 5-3

Saved By The Ball vs Lights Out: Weather helped the offense in the other game, however it was blowing in on this game, making offense a premium. Lights Out noted the weather, and used bunts and low drives to score 2 in the 1st, only to be stopped by Becky Squire at 2nd base to stop the bleeding. Erika for LO hoped return the favor in the top of the 2nd as she too gets outs at 2nd base to halt Saved By The Ball in their tracks. LO drove home 3 huge runs to go up 5-0. SBTB searched for some kind of offense, but the weather and defense held them in check for much of the game. Wes Wilhelm kept the shutout alive in the 6th with a double play, but when it was SBTB’s turn to defend the diamond, Kevin Burbach answered back with an awesome double play of his own to end the inning. SBTB finally went all out and were able to get 4 runs to avoid the shutout. Lights Out wins, 7-4

Super Eagles vs Hangin' With Patch Adams: As the night progressed, the weather became an even larger factor, as the wind and drizzle came a little harder (even a few flakes of the white stuff appeared!!) The Eagles were flying high, as they soared to a 4 run 1st. Hanging With Patch Adams wasn't letting the game get away that easy as they countered back with 3 runs of their own. The farther into the game, the more the cold got to the players. HPA was able to scratch one across in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game at 4. The Eagles wanted more, and got it in the form of another 4 run burst in the 4th. HPA used a costly drop in right field to score 2, which brought the game to 8-6. The Eagles used another burst, in the form of 5 runs thanks to a 3 run bomb from Chris Vinley to go up 13-6. But they weren't done there... they tallied 7 more runs in the 7th to go up 20-6. HPA was able to slide 4 more across  in the bottom of the 7th, but they came up short. Super Eagles win, 20-10

CareCore vs Pitches Be Crazy: Both squads got the brunt of the storm, and they came bundled up for this matchup. PBC knew to stay warm they had to keep moving, so they moved 4 across home in the 1st. CC hoped the weather would only affect PBC, but after a scoreless 2nd, they realized they weren’t immune to the cold. PBC dropped 5 runs on CC to go up 9-0. CC searched for offense high and low, but again were turned away, thanks to some stellar defense in the outfield. PBC scored again in the 3rd, 3 runs worth, to go up 12. CC tried booting the ball high and far, however PBCs outfield were under it all the time. PBC struck again in the 4th, for 4 more runs to go up by 16. CC turned their focus to defense in the 5th, and were able to keep PBC off the board – for this inning, that is. PBC wanted more, and with an offensive switch, dropped 4 more runs in the 6th to put the game out of reach and secure the win. Pitches Be Crazy wins, 20-0

Chocolate Sensation vs Bazinga: The weather was beginning to clear for the night cap, however Bazinga were shorthanded and couldn't field a team. Chocolate Sensation wins, 3-0

Lee Martinez Park - Week 3 Highlights

2 Legit 2 Kick (Athletic Gray) vs. Muddy Wing Tippers (Charcoal): In a matchup of gray vs. grey, only one team could reign supreme. Unfortunately for 2 Legit 2 Kick, their shade of gray didn’t cut the mustard. (By the way, if you would like to learn about the origin of the phrase, “cut the mustard”, click right here—its very interesting stuff.) Captain of the Muddy Wing Tippers, Kyle Pettyjohn, set the tone early with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 1st winning. From there on out, it was all the Muddy Wing Tippers. In fact, they were playing so well that there is only one explanation: the Muddy Wing Tippers have turned to the dark side of the force and have become Sith Lords!!! For 2 Legit 2 Kick, the light side (of gray) just wasn’t strong enough this round. The Muddy Wing Tippers win 36-1.

Kicktease (Red) vs. Skies Out Thighs Out (Sapphire Blue): Kicktease’s experience showed up early, as they took advantage of every offensive opportunity by scoring in bunches throughout the match—4 runs in the 1st inning, 4 runs in the 3rd and 4th, then finally 4 runs in the 7th. Kicktease was also solid on the defensive end, as evidenced by Russell Salavec’s defensive prowess in the bottom of the 2nd inning when he punched the ball from third base over to first for an inning ending out. Skies Out Thighs Out never gave up though, especially on the defensive side: Sarah Blanton’s face made a great reflex play for an out in the top of the 6th inning. But the MVP and birthday boy of the day, albeit in a losing effort, was TC Dinkins for his patented fingertip catches in the outfield. Sadly, it was too little too late… Kicktease wins 16-2.

Girls Love Big Kicks (Cactus Green) vs. Ballbarians (Cardinal Red): Last season’s champs Girls Love Big Kicks knew they needed to be ready to defend their crown against the upstart Ballbarians, and boy did they deliver. They really cranked the defense up to 11 in this contest!!! Drew Nelson made a great catch on a line drive for Girls Love Big Kicks to stifle a scoring threat for the Ballbarians early, and from there on out the pitching prowess of Girls Love Big Kicks took over. Girls Love Big Kicks ended up throwing a shutout with no errors, which is almost unheard of in the GO Kickball realm!!! The Ballbarians played hard and showed great sportsmanship throughout, but they couldn’t match Girls Love Big Kicks perfection on the defensive side of the ball. Seasoned Kickball analyst John Madden had this to say after the game: “Boy, I tell you what, those Ballbarians were right there the whole game. They didn’t quit. But today, Girls Love Big Kicks was just better. I wouldn’t want to see either of these teams in the playoffs. Let’s just say that.” Girls Love Big Kicks wins 3-0.

Social License to Intoxicate (Carolina Blue) vs. Odd Balls (Purple): The Oddballs came into this game hoping that their veteran experience would carry the day against the youthful athleticism of Social License to Intoxicate. Unfortunately, the Oddballs really stalled on the offensive side of the plate and literally couldn’t keep up with the fast legs of Social License to Intoxicate. Lupe “I swear I don’t use stick ‘em” Hernandez made some great catches for the Oddballs, but no one could catch the long kicks of Social License to Intoxicate’s Captain, Michael “I make sure to stretch both legs before the game” Schwarz. Social License to Intoxicate wins 8-0.

Zuni Park - Week 2 Highlights

Highlanders vs. Menace 2 Sobriety - The newspaper article said this was to be a defensive battle. Both pitchers are known for their stellar skills at the mound.  It was Menace 2 Sobriety who struck first with a 2 RBI home run by Brett Tulippe that menaced a 2-0 lead. This was then followed by a Ross Elder home run in the bottom of the 4th.  Highlanders answered with one run of their own in the 4th, to make it a 3-1 game, and that was the score going into the 7th.  In the 7th inning, the Highlanders put on their rally caps and generated the base runners to take the lead but were only able to squeeze in one run, and Menace ended up with the W.  Menace 2 Sobriety wins 3-2.

Not in the Face vs. Backdoor Ohoolihans - Not in the Face proved in Week 2 to be balanced on both sides of the ball with excellent defense, strategic ball placement and aggressive base running. Zach Willett of Not in the Face smacked a lead-off home run in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 1-0 lead.  Both teams went on lock-down defense for 3 innings, holding each other scoreless.  It was finally in the top of the 6th inning when Not in the Face turned it on with a 2-run single from Kyle Johnson, followed by a sack-fly by Spencer Loomis to take a commanding 4-0 lead going into the final inning.  After being shut-out for 6 innings, Backdoor's Steve "Not on the Roster" Bland  (#whenareyougoingtosignup??) had had enough and slammed a solo shot of his own to avoid the shut-out.  Unfortunately, that's all the solo shot did, as Not in the Face wins 4-1.

Sunday Funday - Week 2 Highlights

Kevin Bacon vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air:  Is there anyone who isn't connected to Kevin Bacon in one way or another?  Even the Indianapolis Colts are!!  They joined Bacon for this game as they were in Denver to take on The Broncos for the NFL's season opener...now this was a classy bunch of folks!!  Thanks Colts fans for being a part of our Sunday Funday!!  We met a new fella who quickly became known as "Pepperdine," and he showed us his AMAZING chugging skills...and made some great catches on the field as well!!  Pepperdine, Pepperdine, Pepperdine!!!  A ball was hit SO hard in this one it actually exploded...we're gonna blame Nate Trujillo on that one...usually it's the kicks before the actual one that the does the damage and Nate has one heck of leg.  It was all blue and white skies with red balls flying when Nate was kicking the ball...made us all proud to be an American (check out Instagram)!!  Finally, a new pitcher pitched for Fresh Kicks!!  This seemed to improve moral over all for the day since Frawley is just too good!!  However, Anthony Domenico still pitched 4 scoreless innings in this one and managed the Baconapolis team.  We were still impressed by the flavor of Baconapolis, only playing together for the first time this week against a very seasoned Fresh Kicks team.  Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win 8-3.

Wasted Talent vs. That One Team:  Wasted Talent came in support of Matt Prater this week and for that we thank you!!  We have decided to reach out to Prater as well, we want to free him as well...we just wanna see him kick once!!  TOT's were hot to start in this one and scored 2 runs right out of the gate.  Speaking of tots, we'll be back...sounds good for lunch.................................................
......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
We're back, and starting in the 3rd inning!!  Holy smokes tot's were good, but not AS good as Wasted Talent was in the 3rd inning...super aggressive base running and great ball placement scored 3 in this inning and WT was on top 3-2.  TOT's answered the next inning scoring 1 and may have scored more but WT's Jeff Wilkens made an amazing, diving catch to end the inning...we had ourselves a tie ballgame!!  TOT's put some "extra cheese" on the playing field bringing in heavily sot after recruit Dominique Hubert to play and that payed off as Hubert ran the base in record time in the bottom of the 5th scoring the winning run.  Players questioned whether or not he actually touched all the bases so we sent it to ESPN for replay.  They tried to slow it down and couldn't tell, so then we sent it to NASA for study (why NASA is better than ESPN we're not sure) and it was confirmed, he did touch all the bases and score.  TOT's shut down The Talent for the next 2 innings, thanks in part, to fantastic pitching from Justin Spanbauer...very impressive sir!!  That One Team wins 4-3.

Ballsagna vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air:  Welcome back Ballsagna!!  Now this game was filled with amazing D!!  Ballsagna got on board in the 2nd inning with extremely aggressive base running...these guys and gals are fast!!  Ballsagna was destined to score more, but Garrett Deheer made an amazing diving grab to end the inning...nice work Garrett!!  Fresh Kick answered right back with 3-runs of their own thanks to Anthony Domenico's 2 RBI smack and then came around to score.  Neither team scored again, but this game was filled with excitement the whole way...look to see if these two teams face each other again, we're sure to get ESPN out here.  Fresh Kicks of Ball Air wins 3-1.

Lee Martinez Park - Week 2 Highlights

Social License to Intoxicate (Carolina Blue) vs. Muddy Wing Tippers (Charcoal): In what can only be described as an epic defensive stalemate, this battle of the newcomers lived up to all the pre-game hype. It was tit-for-tat through 6 innings as one team would score a run, only to be answered by the other squad in the next inning. Then it all came down to the bottom of the 7th inning, with the Muddy Wing Tippers losing 3-2 and Adam Shoemaker at the plate… Adam proceeded to crush a 3-run walk-off double for the win!!! And the crowd went crazy!!!! Not even the sprinklers going off in the outfield could dampen the excitement. Captain of the Muddy Wing Tippers, Kyle Pettyjohn, said after the game, “I am so proud of our team. We knew coming in that Social License to Intoxicate will be challenging for the championship this season, so we anticipated it would be a good contest. Fortunately, our hard work and mental fortitude carried the day!” Muddy Wing Tippers win 5-3.

KickTease (Red) vs. 2 Legit 2 Kick (Athletic Gray): Kicktease may have dominated the scoreboard, but 2 Legit 2 Kick is about to dominate this highlight. It started in the bottom of the 1st inning with a great fingertip grab for an out by Meg “The Real Deal” Tannehill for 2 Legit to 2 Kick. Her performance was followed by an amazing reflex catch by Hector “Sure Hands” de Leon in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Then at the end of the game, Mike “That’s a” Rapp made a great defensive effort for 2 Legit 2 Kick by catching a ball that bounced off a teammate’s back for an out. Despite the highlights, Kicktease wins 17-2.

Ballbarians (Cardinal Red) vs. Skies Out Thighs Out (Sapphire Blue): Skies Out Thighs Out displayed a lot of thigh during this hot contest, which probably helped them jump out to an early lead of 1-0 after 2 innings. Anna D’Hooge’s double play in the top of the first inning didn’t hurt either. From there on out though the Ballbarians stormed the metaphorical castle, just like those barbarians that sacked Rome back in the day. It wasn’t all peaches and cream for the Ballbarians though, as Abdulla Al-Qawasmeh made the SportsCenter not-top ten in the bottom of the 5th inning by being too strong with his throw to first base one play, and then having the sun eclipse his vision the next play as he tried to catch a pop fly. The Ballbarians strength and conditioning coach, Barry Bonds, said he is going to have Abdulla lay off the weights next week. Ballbarians win 6-1.

Girls Love Big Kicks (Cactus Green) vs. Odd Balls (Purple): In this matchup of veteran squads, both came ready to play. Girls Love Big Kicks jumped out early, but the Odd Balls held in there with some stellar defensive plays. Cesar Fuentes made a diving catch after the ball bounced off his teammate at second base for an out in the top of the 1st inning. Then in the bottom of the 2nd inning, when it looked like the Oddballs were about to get on the scoreboard with the bases loaded, Girls Love Big Kicks came up with a clutch out to turn the tide back in their favor. The pitcher for the Oddballs, Thomas Torres, struggled on the mound but made up for it with some defensive hustle such as the double play he helped complete in the top of the 4th inning. MVP of the contest though went to Brady Andersen, Captain of Girls Love Big Kicks—every time the Oddballs were threatening to score, he would come up with a big play in the outfield, not too mention his solid base-running acumen that scored a couple runs. Girls Love Big Kicks wins 5-0.

  • Captains:

o   2 Legit 2 Quit: Adam Hauser
o   Ballbarians: Nadia Fahoum
o   Girls Love Big Kicks: Brady Andersen
o   Kicktease: Sara Atkinson
o   Muddy Wing Tippers: Kyle Pettyjohn
o   Oddballs: Rebecca Benedict
o   Skies Out Thighs Out: Rachel Timmons

o   Social License to Intoxicate: Michael Schwarz

Memorial Ballpark - Week 2 Highlights

Saved by the Ball vs Hanging with Patch Adams: Hanging with Patch Adams had high hopes for their first win, while a Saved by the Ball win would keep them perfect in the night cap. SBB scored an easy run in the top of the 1st, but they had no idea what HPA was about to spring on them. The bottom half of the 1st inning brought in an incredible 7 runs for HPA! SBB stayed calm, stuck to their offense, and scratched another one home to make it a 7-2 contest. HPA was still out of breath from their 1st inning assault and were unable to score in the 2nd. SBB was held off the board in the 3rd and that spelled trouble. HPA regained their composure and lit up the night sky with an 8 run 3rd to go up 15-2. SBB didn’t give up and they scored another in the 4th. HPA had used up all their gas on offense, and went into prevention mode the rest of the game. SBB used every trick in the book, however it was HPA’s night on week 2. Hanging with Patch Adams wins, 15-3.

KickBoxing KickBallers vs Chocolate Sensation: KickBoxing KickBallers knew they were up against the veteran squad of Chocolate Sensation and came in with all they had. CS’s Mike Longton annihilated a 3 run HR to cap off a 4 run bottom of the 1st. KBKB was able to get a few runners on base, but with Demetrius Harris owning the strike zone, KBKB was left scoreless. Bottom of the 3rd, still 4-0, and Penny Whisenhunt blasted a 2 run triple to right field to spark a 3 run burst to give CS a 7-0 lead. Kyle Shelhammer of KBKB was done with seeing a 0 for them, and was able to boot a 2 run HR to left center to get on the board. CS answered back with 2 of their own but were stonewalled by a Sportscenter Top 10 diving catch by Andre D'Amour to keep the game at 9-2. CS was solid on defense, not allowing KBKB fully back in to the game and racking up another run in the 6th. KBKB had one more inning to get into the game, but Penny Whisenhunt’s diving catch held off the rally. Chocolate Sensation wins, 10-2.

Super Eagles vs Pitches Be Crazy: The Super Eagles were the 1st to strike on offense, putting 2 on the board in the top of the 2nd. Pitches Be Crazy knew they needed to keep the game within reach if they wanted to come out on top.  Super Eagles flew 2 more runs in to go up 4-0. PBC answered back by blasting 6 runs home in the 3rd. Super Eagles went back on the offensive and drove 1 home to cut the lead to 1. PBC scored 1 to counter, but were denied more thanks to an inning ending double play. PBC worked over the Super Eagles offense and denied them any runs in the 5th, while they added on 2 insurance runs to go up 9-5. Super Eagles kept the game close all night long, but not close enough. Pitches Be Crazy wins, 9-5.

Lights Out vs SchoolYard AllStars: Lights Out was on the board early with 3 fast and furious runs in the top of the 1st. SchoolYard AllStars attempts to score were turned away by 2 pop outs and a strikeout. Lights Out kept ‘em coming and booted 2 more across in the 2nd. SYAS was having trouble figuring out Wes Wilhelm's pitching, as nothing major connected for SYAS in the 2nd. However, in the 3rd, thanks in part to a drop in the infield, SYAS was able to scratch a run home while keeping LO off the board. Wes Willhelm shot back with a 2 run triple in the top of the 4th to go up by 9. SYAS stayed consistent on offense, and scored another run to cut LOs lead to 8. Top 7, LO hoped to get one more run home, but Matt Sayar of SYAS turned a solo double play to keep LO from doing so. Lights Out wins, 11-3.

CareCore vs Bazinga: Bazinga welcomed CareCore to the league by hammering home 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st. CareCore was throttled but stayed resilient, putting runners on in the 2nd, but Matt Howes denied them any chance to score. Bazinga seemed unsatisfied with the score, as they drove home 2 more in the 2nd to go up 9-0. CareCore used a good combo of bunts and line drives to get on base, but again were unable to break the shut out. Bazinga used their defense and converted it into offense again in the 3rd for 4 runs. CareCore’s Kiesha made a sensational catch to end Bazingas offense cold. Using this as motivation, CareCore finally got on the board in the 5th to end the shut out. Bazinga was not happy with giving up a run, and it showed as CareCore struck again in the 6th for 2 more runs while holding off Bazinga. CareCore was looking like they stole Bazingas momentum, as 2 outfield catches kept Bazinga off the scoreboard again. CareCore had their hearts set on a major rally, and were able to get 2 more across in the 7th, but then Bazinga said no more. Bazinga wins 13-5.
