Sons of Pitches (Ash
Grey) vs. Bad News Brews (Daisy Yellow):
Sons of Pitches were off to a hot start, sitting at 2-0
early in the year, as the Bad News Brews, coming in at 1-1 wanted nothing more
than to jump SOP in the divisional standings. Brian Peterson would strike early
for SOP in the top of the 1st (can’t get any earlier than that) with
a crucial RBI double up the middle to give Sons of Pitches the 1-0 lead. Top of
the 2nd, and Katie Strevey would be SOP’s hero of the inning,
sacrificing herself at 1st base to score a run from 3rd
to double the lead to 2. The lead was short lived though, as BNB woke up in the
bottom of the 2nd, and Natalie Rousell bangs home 2 on a single that
turned into a double on an overthrow to knot the game up at 2 a piece. Defense
was the name of the game in the 3rd and 4th innings, as
neither squad would budge to allow a run against them. Bottom of the 5th,
and BNB was back up to bat in the heart of the order, but they couldn’t keep
the ball away from Craig Boyungus as he’d post all 3 outs for SOP!!! Top 6, and
SOP found their savior, as Randy Griswold would come a barreling around the
base-paths with some extremely aggressive base running and comes home safe to
put SOP up 3-2 late. Bottom 7 and BNB had one more go round to at least tie the
game, but 3 straight force outs at 3rd gave SOP the win and keeps
their streak alive. Sons of Pitches win 3-2.

Fresh Kicks of Ball
Air (Black) vs. Bazinga (Red):
In a battle of last season’s top 2 squads, everyone knew
that anything was possible in this game. We start in the bottom of the 1st,
and Bazinga would load the bases early, posing their will on the FBKA defense.
Craig Duncan for Bazinga would prove to be the heavy foot early, as he unloads
the bases with a stand up 3 run triple to start what would become a 4 run
outburst. Moving forward to the bottom of the 2nd, and Bazinga would
roll in more runs and put FBKA on thin ice, as Shane Jahnke would promptly boot
a 2 run single up the 1st base line to start the inning, and would
end the inning coming home on a sac fly to put Bazinga up 7-0. FBKA would get
on base in the 3rd inning for the 1st time, and would get
runners on 1st and 2nd. However, a pop fly turned costly
as FBKA couldn’t tag up and prevent the double play at 1st, ending
their offensive threat. Nate Kischer would give Bazinga even more run support
in the bottom of the 3rd, as a solo round tripper put Bazinga up by
a commanding 8. Top of the 5th, and FBKA wes beginning to mount some
offense, putting runners on the corners for Tony Case, and with a swift leg,
Case brings home a run, much to the delight of the fans of FBKA to cut the lead
to 7. The cheering was short lived, as Bazinga would convert on 7 straight
kicks to score 3 runs to go up 10-1 late in the game. FBKA would attempt to put
on a defensive shift in the bottom of the 6th, however it would
prove more costly than helpful, as Erik Blessman does the dirty deed and
unloads the bases for a 3 run double up the gut to go ahead by 12. Top of the 7th,
and FBKA would get a lead off triple by Tony Case to put pressure on the
Bazinga defense, but it simply wasn’t to be as he was stranded to end the game.
Bazinga wins 13-1.

Kicks n Giggles
(Light Blue) vs. Pandora’s Box (Royal Blue):
In an early mid-season divisional matchup, both teams were
looking to go above .500 at a most pivotal time. KNG came up to bat in the
bottom of the 1st , and they were seeing red as Alex Moorhead would
have a field day with a leadoff home run, and Alan Paquin would follow 2
batters later with a 2 run blast of his own to put KNG up 3-0. It would’ve been
more, but a defensive guru in Austin Perkins would turn a solo double play to
end the threat. Pandora’s Box would send the heart of their order up to bat in
the 2nd, but line out after line out after line out would give KNG all the
confidence needed to get through the game. The power of Moorhead and Paquin
would come around again for KNG in the bottom of the 2nd, as
Moorhead blasted a 2 run double, and Paquin would boot Moorhead home later in
the inning to double the Kicks n Giggles lead to 6. PB would search for answers
on offense, but come up empty handed again, putting a small pinch of doubt in
the back of their minds. KNG would solidify their offensive fireworks with
another run coming home to go up 7. Top of the 4th, and Pandora’s
Box would get on the board for the 1st time and they’d make the most
of it with 2 big boots deeper than the defense from Daniel Alire and Anthony
Brady would cut the deficit to 5. Bottom of the 5th, and KNG would
break the game open again, putting Pandora’s Box to the back burner with 2 more
runs to go up 9-. PB had one more go round in the top of the 7th,
however 3 putouts at 1st would end the night. Kicks N Giggles win 9-2.

HeadShots Should
Count (Sport Grey) vs. Schweddy Balls (White):
Both teams have championship contender written all through
the roster, but someone had to go down. We begin in the top of the 2nd
(say what?! No score in the 1st?!) as the tag team of Liz Watts and
Anna Mayfair would each bomb an RBI single to put HSSC up 2-0. Schweddy Balls
would look to convert in the 2nd, but Christian Watts on the mound
would shut them down. Bottom of the 3rd, and SB would get runners on
1st and 2nd, and Chris Green would boot a ball to
deeeeeeeeeep center but would be caught by Christopher Lyon. Ricky Favilla
would think he can make it home, but Lyon came like a 747 out of nowhere and
tags Favilla out at home for the inning ending double play!!!! Top of the 4th,
and HSSC would blow the doors off this game as Ben Johnson would annihilate a 2
run single and Gentry O’Leary rocketing home a run would cap a 5 run inning to
put HSSC up 7-0. Bottom of the 4th, and Schweddy Balls would get on
the board thanks to a Dan Jordan 2 run single to break up the shutout and get
Schweddy Balls within 5. HSSC would strike again thanks to a Caleb O Leary solo
shot in the top of the 5th to give his team an 8-2 lead late. Top of
the 7th, and Christian Watts would put the nail in the coffin with a
solo moon shot to put Headshots Should Count up 9-2 and preserved the much
needed win. HeadShots Should Count wins 9-2.

Ballsagna (Charcoal)
vs Pitches Be Crazy To (Carolina Blue):
PBC2 created the early lead with a 2-run bomb to centerfield by Josh
Rodney to go up 2-0. Neither team was giving an inch in the 2nd
inning, as both teams would shut the other down 1-2-3. Bottom of the 3rd,
and Hunter Saltzgiver would be a big boot for PBC2 by trucking around the bases
for a 2 run home run and doubling their lead to 4. PBC2 would look to add more,
but a sensational catch by Jeff Ackermann at 3rd and a tag out at
the plate by Nicole Yates would stonewall the PBC2 offense. Top of the 4th,
and Ballsagna would break down the PBC2 defense and score thanks to Ryan
Proctor booting home Nicole Yates to get on the board and cut the lead to 3.
The defenses would stay stout and the pitching by Troy Martinez for PBC2 and Ross
Schumaker for Ballsagna sharpened as time wore on. Bottom of the 6th,
and PBC2 looked ready to strike again, as Bryan Loucks would belt down Jill
Bourgeois at 3rd base to keep the game close. Ballsagna would get
one more shot in the top of the 7th, but tonight wasn’t the night
and PBC2 stood firm and held on for the win. Pitches Be Crazy To wins 4-1.
Memorial Park #3 Field 2 (8pm)
HashTag Balls (Forest
Green) vs. Hot Ice (Heather Grey):
In a battle for competitive bragging rights, neither team
would hold back on offense or defense!! Doug Burris would get the show on the
road for Hashtag, booting an RBI single to 3rd base, and would score
another thanks to an overthrow at 1st to begin what would be a 3 run
top of the 1st. Hot Ice would be stone cold in the bottom of the 1st
as they were set down on 5 pitches. That all would change, as James Rood for
Hot Ice in the bottom of the 2nd booted a 2 run double to get his
team within 1 run early in the game. Both defenses were locked and loaded in
the 3rd inning, as both teams were set down in order, giving an
illusion to a defensive stalemate. In the bottom of the 4th, Hot Ice got WHITE HOT
with Beau Kelly obliterating a 3-run home run to right field off the 250 sign
and started what would be a 5-run outburst to go up 7-3...nice job Beau!! Top 5, and Hashtag
would have an answer of their own with a 2-run sac fly by Eva Goodwin to bring
Hashtag within 2 runs, 7-5. In the bottom of the 6th, and Hashtag
imploded on defense, with a bases loaded walk and allowing Caitlyn Beans to
boot a 2-run single for Hot Ice to go up 10-5. Hot Ice wins, 10-5
