Denver - Wednesday Highlights - Week 3

Ciancio Park Field 1 (6pm)

Punani Patrol (pink) vs. Step Parents (royal blue):

This was our game of the night!  Crazy calls, lead swings/changes, and 7 innings later we think we got it right!  Step Parents started out on fire in the bottom of the 1st inning; "Texas" Chris Roberts backhanded a 2-RBI double & Kodi Kassell blooped an RBI single and we had ourselves a 3-0 ballgame right of the bat/kick!  Punani answered in the top of the 2nd with 2 runs, one run coming from the amazingly aggressive base running by Devra Reiman and the other coming from a perfectly placed RBI-single by Hayleigh Rohr.  Punani's girl power truly takes this teams talent to a whole notha level!!  In the bottom of the 2nd, Step Parents answered with 1 run and the game was 4-2 Step Parents.  In the top of the 3rd inning, Punani plated 3-runs, 1 being in part to a controversial call of "no catch" - was it a "kickball move," sort of play...we'll call it the "Dez Bryant no catch" - this benefited Punani and gave them a 5-4 lead.  Dan Welsh answered in the bottom of the 3rd with an "I'll stop this controversy," ball to right to score a run for Step Parents and the game was tied 5-5.  In the top of the 4th inning, Punani answered by putting cheese on it!  Tommy "Cheese" Manchego smacked an RBI single and was eventually brought in to score...ohhhhh the cheese...Punani up 7-5. Step Parents overcame the blunder of a call & made the bottom of the 4th theirs!!  Jennifer Tvrdik "just call her JT" started it out with an RBI single & "Texas" Chris finished it with his 4th recorded RBI of the game with a 2-RBI single.  We had ourselves another lead change!!...Step Parents leading 8-7!!  The 5th inning was a much-needed-break-of-action for both teams and neither team scored a run.  In the top of the 6th inning, the break was over!  Punani's Vince Wheeler & Haleigh Rohr both had RBI singles and it was all topped off with a sprinkle of RBI-Tommy-Manchego-cheese!  Did we say lead change?  Punani Patrol goes up 10-8!  In the bottom of the 6th inning, Ryan Barnos retired SP with a K...nice pitching Ryan!!  For the defensive play of the night, Step Parents kept Punani from scoring another in the 7th inning with a 3rd out play at the plate!!  It was a "text book" 7-5-2 relay for the ages (this is close...you'll get the idea)!!  Truly an amazing effort by Step Parents!!  SP could not answer in the 7th but left with a lot of MOJO!  Punani Patrol wins 10-8.

Ciancio Park Field 2 (6pm)

Dice (purple) vs. Balls and Dolls (lime):

2-time-MVP Chris Allard (man that sounds nice), started things out for Dice with a 3-run triple in the 1st inning.  Graham Palmer answered with a 3-run bomb in the top of the 3rd inning & Dice was up 13-0 by the end of the 3rd.  Sometimes it feels like this against Dice.  We recommend a little of this against Dice to create some confusion!  Balls and Dolls' Team Captain, Tamara Lischer, smacked an RBI SAC to score BnD's 1-run for the game.  Dice wins 21-1.

Cuernavaca Park Field 1 (6pm)

Ball So Hard (irish green) vs. Saved By The Balls (red):

Kaila McGillis smacked an RBI single to start this one out 1-0 for BSH...way to lead the team Kaila!! SBTB, kinda has a nice ring to it, doesn't it, answered with Mike Trout....nuff said!!  Mike (RBI single) and Mitch McFarland (3-run HR) helped contribute (don't want these guys getting too big of heads) with a 2-inning onslaught & a 14-1 lead by the end of the 2nd inning!  SBTB would have scored more but BSHes Amanda Borowski and Candace Miley were catching everything - literally - they made catch-after-catch-after-catch...these ladies were everywhere on the field!  Nice work gals!!  Saved By The Balls wins 15-1.

Cuernavaca Park Field 2 (6pm)

Don't Stop Ballieving (white) vs. The Simpletons (black):

Dan Berlau's SAC scored the first runs of the game for DSB and got them out on top 2-0.  It was Dan's Big Kick that scored 2 more in the top of the 3rd inning with a 2-run blast to right field & DSB had a commanding 4-0 lead!!  Very impressive Dan!!  Simpletons Tommy Oaks lined an RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd inning to get Simple on the books & the game was 4-1.  Les Massoletti (sp?, not on roster), started DSB going again with a double and then scoring on another SAC...DSB scored 3 more runs with aggressive base running and had a commanding 8-1 lead!  TS started a comeback and scored 3-runs in the 6th inning but DSB wasn't going to let them come the whole way and went on lockdown D!  This was a great matchup and we'll see who comes out victorious again this week!! Don't Stop Ballieving wins 8-4.
