Fort Collins - Week 4 - Highlights

Edora Park Field 1 (6pm)

Lunchbox Violators (Royal Blue) vs. A Night at the Roxbury (Black):

Once again, A Night at the Roxbury comes up with a lot of flash, but not a lot of sizzle in this contest. Maggie McKinley had an amazing line drive catch on the third base line and Michael Ochs completed an impressive bobble catch in the outfield. However, it was the Lunchbox Violators who dominated on the scoreboard after knocking in four runs in the 1st inning and then another four in the 3rd inning. Nadia Fahoum, captain of A Night at the Roxbury, commented after the game, “We may not have won this game, but we will crush everyone next week with our top-secret theme week costumes. Look out Fort Collins!” Lunchbox Violators win 8-4.

Edora Park Field 2 (6pm)

Oilers SLTI (Daisy Yellow) vs. Where My Pitches At (Purple):

Look at all those diving catches!!! Adam Morse from the Oilers SLTI had a crowd-pleasing diving catch as the pitcher in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and Cory Palenci from Where My Pitches At had one in the top of the 6th inning in the outfield. The real excitement though came when both pitchers were hit in the face by kicks from the other team in back-to-back innings—now that’s sacrificing your body for the team! See these not-top 10 highlights here! Unfortunately, only the Oilers SLTI sacrifices were ultimately worth it. Oilers SLTI win 5-2.

Edora Park Field 3 (6pm)

Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Light Pink) vs. Ballz N Dollz (Heliconia):

What fire-power! There were so many scores in this game that the official literally lost track. Captain Chad “The Cat” Cheshire really opened things up for Little Lebowski Urban Achievers with a three run home-run to right field in the bottom of the 2nd inning. But Ballz and Dollz never quit, as Captain Alison “Built Tough” Ford secured an RBI with two outs in the top of the 3rd inning. Then Dave “The Wolf” Wolford from Ballz N Dollz showcased his base-running skills for a score in the top of the 4th. Players later blamed the sun in their eyes for the lack of defense… Of course, based on the final score, Ballz N Dollz must have forgotten their sunglasses or something. Little Lebowski Urban Achievers win 15-6.

Edora Park Field 4 (6pm)

High Rollers (Charcoal) vs. American Made (Sport Grey):

There was a lot of nice defense in this one as the High Rollers early on completed an impressive relay to home plate from the outfield to stop a run from scoring. Meanwhile, American Made had a double play in the top of the 6th inning that kept them in the lead. Defensive expert Champ Bailey explained after the game, “Everyone knows that defense wins championships… With that in mind, it’s pretty obvious that these teams will be in contention for the Horsetooth Cup. Let’s hope they don’t choke like some other teams in the Colorado area…” American Made wins 3-1.

Edora Park Field 1 (7pm)

New Kicks on the Block (White) vs. Florida Mike and the Free Ballers (Lime):

Florida Mike and those Free Ballers showed some stout defense through the first five innings—Eric Brown made all three outs in the 1st inning and Gordon Mclaughlin completed a double play as the catcher in the 3rd inning. Then came the bottom of the 5th… That’s when New Kicks on the Block exploded for five runs to blow the game wide open!!! Kickball Analyst and international soccer star Lionel Messi explained, “Sometimes you just have to take advantage of the moment, and that’s exactly what New Kicks on the Block did in the bottom of the 5th—they went for the jugular! Well not literally, but you know what I mean.” New Kicks on the Block wins 6-1.

Edora Park Field 2 (7pm)

RiKICKulous (Irish Green) vs. Bobs Your Uncle (Violet):

Could RiKICKulous keep it rolling for another week? This game started off on the right foot for them with Joe “Bad Boy” Bohn’s lead off score, but then Bob’s Your Uncle tried to ramp up the defense. Michael “Perfection” Peffer completed a perfect double play in the top of the 5th inning and Kayla “Magnum PI” Mangrum made a spectacular over the shoulder catch in the top of the 7th inning. Unfortunately, it didn’t matter how ridiculously cool Bobs Your Uncle’s plays were, RiKICKulous would not be denied. RiKICKulous wins 8-3.

Edora Park Field 3 (7pm)

Grassholes (Carolina Blue) vs. Kicktease (Red):

What a game! Coming into this one, all the odds-makers had the Grassholes easily bouncing back for a win this week, however Kicktease had another plans… In particular, the captain and pitcher for Kicktease, Adam Eccher, played out of his mind!!! It started with double plays between him and first base in the top of the 2nd and 6th inning. Also, in the bottom of the 3rd, Eccher kicked a run-scoring triple before scoring himself from the third base during the next at-bat. The Grassholes weren’t going down easy though, and Matt Timmon’s two-run RBI in the top of the 7th inning made extra innings a possibility. That’s when Eccher stepped up again by striking out a batter in the top of the 8th inning and then scoring the game-winning run on an error in the bottom of the 8th inning after some impressive base-running!! In addition to Eccher’s game MVP award, Kicktease wins 4-3!!!!

Edora Park Field 4 (7pm)

Just Kickin It (Old Gold) vs. Check Out My Big Kick (Maroon):

Another defensive battle! Joseph Penton from Just Kickin It started things off with an impressive double play catch and throw. However, from there on out it was all Check Out My Big Kick. Rachel McKinney made a diving catch in the bottom of the 4th inning to keep things tied up at 0-0. Then came the top of the 5th inning and Kyle Oldham’s one-shining-moment as he kicked a two out triple that scored two runs!!! Just Kickin It will have to try kicking it another day, hopefully a little bit better next time. Check Out My Big Kick wins 3-0.
