High Rollers (White) vs. Kicks from the Bong (Forest Green):
Things started off on the right foot for Kicks from the Bong in the top of the 1st inning as they completed a double play on two throws for outs. They kept up the defensive intensity in the top of the 2nd inning when Kent “KDub” Williams made two bobble catches in the outfield. Talk about living on the edge!!! However, the High Rollers were finally able to open the floodgates in the top of the 4th with a grand slam by Andrew “Jumping” Jahde who was able to capitalize on three unforced errors… The opportunistic High Rollers squad was then able to coast to victory! High Rollers win 11-0.

City Park Field 1 (6:50pm)

Lunchbox Violators (Carolina Blue) vs. Kicktease (Charcoal):
This contest was tight throughout with the game tied up through the 1st inning, a one run game in the 3rd, and only a two run difference going into the 7th and final inning. The difference in the game ultimately stemmed from the Lunchbox Violator’s stellar defensive front—in particular Lindsay Kocsis’ catches in the outfield and Valerie Kinzie’s tag outs had quite the impact. As John Wooden said, “Defense wins championships. Especially in Kickball.” Lunchbox Violators win 7-4.

City Park Field 3 (6:50pm)

Kick Pitches Get Money (Sapphire Blue) vs. Saved By The Balls (Purple): Both teams had stellar defensive performances on an individual level as Evan Acerbo claimed defensive MVP for Kick Pitches Get Money and Laura Huxtable’s performance as catcher secured her honorable mention in the game MVP category for Saved By the Balls. In this case though, Saved by the Balls was really saved by their offense as they totaled nine runs while shutting out Kick Pitches Get Money. As John Wooden said, “Defense wins championships. But you still have to have a better offense than your opponent to win in the end.” A bit of a déjà vu huh? That guy sure has a lot of famous quotes… Saved by the Balls wins 9-0.

City Park Field 4 (6:50pm)

Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Neon Yellow) vs. Balls Deep (Irish Green):
Former Toilet Bowl Champions, Balls Deep, looked to elevate their game and take down the former champions, Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, in this heated matchup! Balls Deep vaulted into the lead after the bottom of the 1st with a three run inning, and from there on out they held onto their lead for dear life... The Little Lebowski Urban Achievers ramped up their defense as well, with Laura Aguirres leading the way via double plays and solid catches to help them stay in the game. However, Balls Deep’s MVP and captain, Ryan Smith, made sure their defense didn’t falter with a jaw-dropping throw to end the top of the 5th inning and keep the defending champs at bay. Smith commented after the game, “Our team really took our training seriously in the off-season. We really went ‘in-depth’ with our ball training if you catch my drift.” Balls Deep wins 4-0.

City Park Field 5 (6:50pm)

High Socks High Motivation (Gold) vs. Just Kickin It (Sport Grey): Double trouble! The game started off with a double play that went against High Socks High Motivation, and then they followed it up with a stand up double on a kick for the first score of the game. Crazy! Just Kickin It tried to answer with Dan “I say Winnebago, you say” Winnebaga coming just a few inches away from his first solo home run of the season… So close yet so far! It was Amy “The Closer” Marshall who really put things away for High Socks High Motivation though—her sounds effects on the mound really intimidated the other squad. High Socks High Motivation wins 14-0.

City Park Field 6 (6:50pm)

Fortlandia Fartknockers (Heliconia) vs. Ballz N Dollz (Tropical Blue): In the second game of their double header, it became evident that the Fortlandia Fartknockers were winded, especially at the midway point in this contest. The game was tied up 1-1 through four innings, when finally Ballz N Dollz was able to leap ahead with two runs scored in the bottom of the 4th inning. However, the real star of the game was the Ballz N Dollz pitcher, Brianna Beans, who pitched a one-run game with very little offensive support. Peter Gammons commented after the game that Beans has a real chance to win the Cy Young award this se
