Denver - Wednesday Week 6- Highlights

Cuernavaca Park Field 2 (6pm)

Dice (Purple) VS. Step Parents (Royal Blue):
Our first game of the night was a real nail biter and both teams wanted a win with the season coming to an end. Dice was first up to bat and they came out strong by putting up 3 on the board. When the Parents came up to bat Dice shut them down and held them scoreless. In the top of the second we had a shocking unexpected HR from Justin Anderson on Dice to extend their lead to 4-0. The Parents weren’t going to let this one get away from them and in the bottom of the inning Chris Loupee kept them in the game with a Solo HR to put their first run on the board. In the top of the 3rd the Parents turned on the “D” and shut down dice so they wouldn’t extend their lead and when it was their turn to bat they mustered it up and got another run home. In the 4th Dice put up another 2 runs and the Parents got another one across the plate as well to bring the score to 6-3. In the top of the 5th the Parents held Dice to just 1 run and in the bottom they tied up the game with 4 RBI’s. When Dice came back up in the top of the 6th they needed some runs to get the lead back and that is just what they did with a RBI, and then they needed to hold the Parents off to keep the lead and held them scoreless in the bottom of the inning. So it all came down to the 7th and when dice came up to bat they were determined to win this game and they slammed home 5 runs to extend the lead to 13-7. It was all up to the Parents and they need 6 to tie and 7 to win but Dice had different ideas and held the Parents to only 2 runs. Dice Wins 13-9.

Cuernavaca Park Field 2 (6pm)

Cause We Ball So Hard (Black) VS. Punani Patrol (Neon Pink):
For our second game of the night both teams needed a win to improve their standing for the upcoming 5280 cup and they went at it for sure. Ball so Hard came up to bat first and they came out swinging and got their first run to set a precedent of not going out easily.  But the Patrol was out in full force today and in the top of the inning their first baseman took a line drive to the face and still caught the ball. In the bottom of the 1st the Patrol responded with 2 RBI’s to take the lead and show Ball so Hard they had also came to play. Both teams turned up the “D” for the next few innings and no one scored until the bottom of the 4th when the Patrol decided enough was enough and they had a perfectly placed RBI double to break the ice and increase their lead. The “D” was back on and both teams went silent again as far as scoring goes and Ball so Hard showed they were not down and out yet with an amazing double play in the bottom of the 6th to end the inning and stop the Patrol from extending their lead and running away with the game. Going into the 7th Ball so Hard was down 4-1 and needed a miracle to win this game but the Patrol was not going to let it happen and they closed out the inning and held Ball so Hard Scoreless to win the game. Punani Patrol Wins 4-1.

Cuernavaca Park Field 3 (6pm)

Put It In The Bunt (Neon Orange) VS. Pitches Be Cray (Ash Grey):
Our final game of the night was a little top heavy and wasn’t a fair fight due to some players missing tonight. Bunt came up to bat first and they came out swinging and brought 4 runs home to take the lead and in the bottom of the inning they shut down the Cray and held them scoreless.  Bunt continued their scoring run in the top of the second and slammed in another 3 RBI’s to extend their lead and once again held the Cray in the bottom of the inning. It was the same story in the next couple of innings with Bunt extending their lead little by little each inning and continued to shut down the Cray until it just seemed like it was out of reach for the Cray. Coming into the 7th Cray was down 12-0 and needed a miracle to win this game and it never came but they didn’t get shut out. With the final inning coming to a close they got their first run on the board with a perfectly placed RBI. Put It In The Bunt Wins 12-1.
