a Kickball (black) vs Bazinga (red):
OCSK
shocked the kickball world this week, becoming the first team this season to
hold Bazinga off the scoreboard in the 1st inning. OCSK drew first blood in the
2nd inning after Tiffany Andrews and Erik Martin led off with back to back
singles, and Jenna Smith brought them home with a solid single herself. Bazinga
would be held scoreless for three innings, but then someone woke the dragon in
the 4th. A flurry of bunts and aggressive baserunning by the top of their
lineup allowed 9 runs to come across to break things open. Remember folks, get
the ball back to the pitcher’s mound or else the likes of Nate Kischer and Matt
Howes will run circles around your defense!

Booze on First (indigo

This
battle of Firsts was a true defensive battle from start to finish. Captain Marc
O’Meara pitched a gem of a game for Booze on First, holding the potent attack
of Brews on First scoreless for the first 5 innings. Booze on First got a
lead-off single by Alyssa Laliberte in the 2nd, who would advance to third
base, but fell short in bringing her home. Alyssa would be the only runner to
advance to third base the entire game, as Brews on First brought their “A” game
for defense. Going into the bottom of the 6th inning tied at 0-0, Brews on
First finally struck gold with 2 outs. Kyle Pilipovich and Kristin Porter got
two clutch singles and Sam Schultz followed with an RBI single that would prove
to be the winning run. Brews on First would shut down Booze on First in the 7th
with a “3-up, 3-down” inning to get the win and solidify their spot as a top-2
seed in the Pikes Peak Cup.
