City Park
Field 1 (5:50pm)
Kick Pitches Get Money (Sapphire Blue) vs. The
Edukators (Neon Pink): Theme week was
in full effect in this game as The Edukators sported their Revenge of the Nerds
outfits!!! (See here)
Plus, they rallied behind pitcher Cary Klataske who displayed fantastic
effort on the mound to help protect an early four run lead. But it was game MVP
Nathaniel Walberer who was a regular Derek Jeter at shortstop making plays left
and right in the field! The Edukators
win 8-4.
City Park Field 2
(5:50pm)
Oilers SLTI (Red) vs. Lewis
For Mayor (Dark Heather):
This game
was tight early and some defensive plays had to be made by each side. It
started in the bottom of the 1st with Lewis For Mayor threatening
when soon to be mother (Happy Mothers’ Day!) Veronica Ehlinger made a fantastic
catch and turned it into a double play to end the inning for Oilers SLTI!!! An
inning later, her counterpart, Russ Ehlinger caught a scorching line drive from
the pitcher position (We might have a future kickball all star on the way!).
Next, on the other side of the ball, Lewis For Mayor made three spectacular
catches in a row to end a push by Oilers SLTI. In the end, it was a breakout
six run 5th inning to really open the scoring for Oilers SLTI that
sealed the deal. Oilers SLTI win 14-4.

(5:50pm)
Lunchbox Violators (Carolina Blue) vs. Multiple Scoregasms (Royal
Blue): Lunchbox Violators’
captain, Corey Bernhardt, was doing all he could in the field this week to help
his team out! It started with a fabulous catch in the 2nd inning and
ended with him chasing runners down to get some outs! But it was MVP Diane
“buzzing” Buzzard who got the Multiple Scoregasms on the board first with her 2
first inning RBIs!!! It was all defense from there, including a crucial catch
by third baseman Adam Johnson in the bottom of the 7th inning that
all but sealed the win for Multiple Scoregasms. Multiple Scoregasms win 2-0.
City Park Field 4
(5:50pm)
Kicks from the Bong (Forest Green) vs.
Balls Deep (Irish Green):
Holy smokes
we had a close battle on the kickball field in this matchup!!! It was close
from the beginning when both teams scored a hard earned run in the 2nd
inning. Kicks from the Bong standout player, Ross Montgomery, opened it up for
his team when he blasted a triple… IN HIS FULL SNOW SUIT!!! Balls Deep was able
to break things open shortly after though with two desperately needed runs.
Despite a late inning push by Kicks from the Bong, Balls Deep pitcher, Ryan
“Roll ‘Em Hot” Smith, was throwing HEAT on the mound and helped his team hold
on! Balls Deep wins 3-2.
City Park Field 5
(5:50pm)
Madwire (Tennessee Orange) vs. Ballz N
Dollz (Tropical Blue): BEETLEJUICE,
BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE! Ballz N
Dollz showed up ready to spook out their opponents but Madwire was having none
of it! Captain Joel Vandertop spoke after the game saying, “I’ve seen way scarier movies! I just had to
keep reminding my team, it isn’t real!” Madwire showed no fear jumping out to
an early two run lead in the 1st inning. They later added three more
runs in the top of the 4th to widen the margin. After that, it was
all pitching and defense for Madwire as they only gave up a run in the 5th
and 7th innings. Madwire wins
5-2.
City Park Field 6
(5:50pm)
High Rollers (White) vs. Fortland
Fartknockers (Heliconia):
Sometimes a
game is so exciting that there aren’t words to describe it… And sometimes, it’s
just a shut out. Ghostbusters triumph! (Can’t wait for the sequel…) High Rollers win 5-0.
City Park
Field 1 (6:50pm)
Kicktease (Charcoal) vs. Ace Strong
(Indigo Blue):
What a way to start the game! Kicktease came out
strong in the 1st inning to
the tune of 13 runs, which was helped along by Jon Flack’s grand slam. Even
though Ace Strong was undermanned, they never said quit. However, Kicktease’s
defense, especially Greg Kern’s stellar double plays, kept Ace Strong at bay.
Kicktease captain, Adam Eccher, commented after the game, “The fourth was
strong was us in this one.” Kicktease wins 20-1.
City Park Field 2
(6:50pm)
Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Neon
Yellow) vs.
Saved
By The Balls (Purple):
Saved by the
Balls came out swinging in this one, as they attempted to hand the defending
champs on Little Lebowski Urban Achievers their second loss on the season.
After falling behind 1-2 through the 1st inning, the Little Lebowski
Urban Achievers stepped up their defense with three straight catches to end the
top of the 2nd inning. Captain Chad Cheshire kept it going with his
defensive intensity, which culminated with a sliding catch in the outfield in
the top of the 5th. Unfortunately for the former champs, Saved by
the Balls was saved by their overpowering offensive prowess in securing
victory. Kickball Analyst John Travolta said after the game, “Now that was an
impressive performance! Not quite as good as I was in the movie ‘Grease’, but
close.” Saved by the Balls wins 11-4.
City Park Field 3
(6:50pm)
Team America (Navy) vs. Lunchbox Violators (Carolina
Blue):
Now this was a close one! With two very experienced
teams in this matchup, you just knew it was going to come down to the last
inning. The Lunchbox Violators in particular really put the pressure on early
with some strategic offense and rigid defense. Jacki “Catcher in the Deep”
DeHayes-Rice and Eli “Book of” Roth stepped up their defense for the Lunchbox
Violators with some great catches and throws for outs to keep Team America at
bay. However, league MVP candidate Tony “The Man” Martin finally rose to the
occasion in the top of the 7th with an impressive slide to third
base that put himself in scoring position. Then Cameron “Always Airing it Out”
Ayers’ home run put Team America on top for good!!! Team America wins 3-2.
City Park Field 4
(6:50pm)
High Socks High Motivation (Gold) vs.
Florida Mike and the Freeballers (Neon Orange):
Both teams suffered from mishaps that hurt their
chances at winning this contest… But who would hold it together long enough to
claim victory??!! Things started to get a little whacky in the top of the 5th
inning when the third base coach for High Socks High Motivation accidentally
interfered with the play, thereby causing a run to come off the board for his
team. Then in the bottom of the 5th, Mitch Murray from Florida Mike
and the Free Ballers kicked the ball and hit his own player for the third out
of the inning. What is this, dodgeball or kickball??!!
Finally, High Socks High Motivation rose to the occasion and put a couple runs
on the board to break the tie and secure the win! High Socks High Motivation wins 6-4.
City Park Field 5
(6:50pm)
New Kicks on the Block (Texas Orange) vs. Where My
Pitches At (Neon Green):
Where My
Pitches At seemingly waited too long for their pitches in this one, as yet
another slow start cost them a chance at victory in this one. New Kicks on the
Block scored four runs right out of the gate to set the tone, and Where My
Pitches At wasn’t able to match that total until the bottom of the 4th
inning. By then, New Kicks on the Block had a comfortable margin and cruised
into victory. Captain Ashley Hildebrand from New Kicks on the Block commented
after the game, “We are playing really well as a team this season. In fact,
most of our players have multiple seasons under their belt at this point… Maybe
we should consider changing our name…?” New
Kicks on the Block wins 11-5.
City Park Field 6
(6:50pm)
Just Kickin It (Sport Grey) vs. Girls
Love Big Kicks (Cardinal Red): Holy
runsamole, captain Brady Anderson had his Big Kicks finely tuned and prepped
for this game! They jumped the gun early scoring a whopping six runs in the 1st
inning!!! Later in the game, Just Kickin It’s Joe Bohm made his case for catch
of the year when he covered nearly the entire outfield to make one helluva
diving catch and avoided a tree in the process!!! The defensive plays continued
when Madelynn Ries showed us her inner volleyball skills by setting the flyball
for Kyle Kusmik to come in and finish off the catch. Kyle Oldham iced the game
in the top of the 6th when he booted a monster two run homerun,
adding to his single and triple earlier in the contest, thereby giving him game
MVP rights! Girls Love Big Kicks win
14-2.
