Wednesday Cuernavaca - Week 6 - Highlights

Cuernavaca Field 1 6PM

Isotopes (Maroon) vs. Put it in the Bunt (Neon Yellow):
For our first game of the night we had 2 very good teams and it was unclear who would come out the victor. Isotopes started us off in the top of the first with 2 runs and the first came from Greg Verzosa who had a SAC fly RBI and Cameron Cox came behind him and kicked a booming 2 run homer. In the bottom of the 1st the Isotopes shut down the Bunt and held the scoreless to keep the lead. The Isotopes were back at it again in the top of the second and this time it was Team Captain Shane Adam who added to the lead with a home run. Again in the bottom of the inning the Bunt was shut down and this time they returned the favor in the top of the 3rd by holding the Isotopes scoreless. In the top of the 4th Nigel Penhale from the Isotopes added to their lead with a perfectly placed RBI double and the defense continued in the bottom of the inning and once again held the Bunt to no runs. In the 5th inning we had some fireworks and in the top it was Greg and Cameron who were at it again and they each kicked RBI’s to extend the lead. In the bottom of the inning Bunt finally got on the board and it was all from Quinten McCoy who kicked a booming 2 run homer. The 6th inning went to the defense and we must give a shout out to Adam Bacon who had an amazing double play today! In the 7th the scoring resumed for both teams and Greg and Cameron were at it again, Greg with another RBI single and Cameron with another home run for the Isotopes. In the bottom of the inning the Bunt was down 9-2 and needed a miracle to pull this off, unfortunately they could only manage 2 RBI and that was all she wrote. Isotopes Wins 9-4.

Cuernavaca Field 2 6PM

Step Parents (Royal Blue) vs. Kickin Uglies (Sapphire Blue):
Step started us of in the top of the first by scoring the 1st 3 runs and then shutting down Kickin’ in the bottom of the inning. In the 2nd Step did it again by scoring another 3 runs and then only let Kickin’ score 1 in the bottom. In the 3rd it took a turn for the worse for Kickin’ when Step brought 13 runs across the plate in the top and was still not able to score in the bottom. In the top of the 4th Kickin’ held the Parents to only 2 runs but couldn’t score again in the bottom. In the top of the 5th the Parents scored another 4 and one was from Dominique Hubert who kicked a in the park homer and was lightning fast around the bases. In the 6th the Parents scored another 3 runs and in the bottom Kickin’ brought home their 2nd run of the game. In the 7th the Parents really out did themselves and put the final 8 nails in the coffin. Going into the bottom of the 7th Kickin' put on a great rally...unfortunately Step had created a little too much distance.  Step Parents Wins 36-5.

Cuernavaca Field 3 6PM

Punani Patrol (Neon Pink) vs. No Rubber Lovers (Tropical Blue):
Our third and final game of the night was a lot of fun. In the top of the 1st the Patrol started us off by Russ Thessing kicking a RBI double and bringing home Eric Mortenson and then turning up the “D” in the bottom of the inning to hold off the Lover’s from scoring. In the top of the 2nd Matthew Brady had a sweet RBI to extend the lead and Natalie D’Adamio had an amazing matrix dodge running to first and was safe because of it. The Lover’s Tyler Williams had some amazing lockdown pitching with “no bounce” finish to all his pitching this inning which was very sweet. The Lover’s Steve Knight helped lockdown the top of the 5th with a running fingertip grab in in right center field to end the inning and held the Patrol scoreless. Toe-Knee Lusk kicked a booming homer and just barely beat the tag sliding into home. The Lover’s finally scored in the bottom of the 6th with good base kicking to get 2 base runners on and then a 2 RBI kick and then a SAC fly for a 3rd run of the inning. In the top of the 7th the final scores of the game came off of Kerry Simpson who kicked a 2-RBI SAC-fly to deep center field...nice job Kerry!! Punani Patrol Wins 10-3.
