Fort Collins - Week 4 - Highlights

Greenbriar Park Field 1 (5:45pm)

Cheba Hut (Forest Green) vs. Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Ash Grey): Both Cheba Hut and Little Lebowski Urban Achievers showed up to play tonight! Cheba Hut scored three runs in the top of the 1st , but this was immediately echoed by Little Lebowski Urban Achievers in the bottom of the 1st with Logan Rutt’s out of this world 3-run HOME RUN! It was the play of the game! Little Lebowski Urban Achievers kept their steam running strong in the 2nd inning with 8 runs scored pushing them into double digits. Cheba Hut continued a strong effort on offense and scored 4 runs in the 4th, but their defense couldn’t stand up to Little Lebowski Urban Achievers – the team was on fire! Cheba Hut’s Sean Murphy had a Ground Rule Double that boosted their offensive effort. The holiday weekend may have made some folks tired, but it left Little Lebowski Urban Achievers rejuvenated and hungry for runs! Little Lebowski Urban Achievers wins 22-9.

Greenbriar Park Field 2 (5:45pm)

Florida Mike and the Free Ballers (Purple) vs. Oilers (Heliconia): Sometimes kickball is heavy on runs, sometimes it is more of a defensive game, and that is exactly what this game was all about - neither team tonight was going to make scoring an easy task! The Oilers took the lead with Kyle Kusmick’s first RBI of the night in the top of the 3rd, then Florida Mike and the Free Ballers immediately responded with their own single run in the bottom of the 3rd. That’s when the legs of the Oilers started to heat up in the 4th with three runs scored, providing a little bit of a cushion but not enough for Florida Mike and the Free Ballers to lose hope. Kusmick went on to take MVP of the night, with crowning achievement coming in the bottom of the 6th on a double play throw from third to first base. The Oilers pulled ahead in the top of the 7th with another three runs scored to solidify their win! Oilers wins 7-2.

Greenbriar Park Field 1 (6:45pm)

2 Legit 2 Quit (Navy) vs. Flint Tropics (Neon Yellow):
Flint Tropics have been crushing all season long and with a three-week winning streak on the line, the stakes were high! “Flint Tropics Retiree” in his orange shorts and cool glasses made sure to have an outstanding play in his last game with a TRIPLE!  The game started out a bit slow, but Flint Tropics finally accelerated to full speed in the bottom of the 4th scoring nine runs and showing 2 Legit 2 Quit what champions are made of. 2 Legit 2 Quit pitcher Jordan Ehrlich gave it his all at the rollers mound, but the Flint Tropics’ lead was too great for 2 Legit 2 Quit to close the gap. Next week hopefully 2 Legit 2 Quit can get more runs in! Flint Tropics wins 21-3.

Greenbriar Park Field 2 (6:45pm)

Team America (Royal Blue) vs. Balls and Dolls (Violet):
With both teams coming off wins in week three, this was sure to be a nail biter! Team America immediately let Balls and Dolls know that they were here to play with Jarred Peterson’s lead off solo homer in the top of the 1st! With three runs scored, Team America took the field and showed Balls and Dolls just how strong their defense was with by not allowing any runs in the 1st-3rd innings. Taylor Nichols made an awesome high pop catch in right field in the bottom of the first, solidifying Team America’s defense. Emily Brandt from Balls and Dolls also had a great “sticky hand” catch in right field in the top of the 3rd.  Balls and Dolls had a slow offensive warm up, but by the bottom of the 4th they were on the scoreboard. Balls and Dolls reinforced their defense by the top of the 5th and completely shut out Team America for the rest of the game. Jozy Altidore (also known as Ross Johnson) from Team America walked away with the MVP honor for tonight’s game. Team America wins 9-5.

Greenbriar Park Field 3 (6:45pm)

Ballz n Dollz (Neon Orange) vs. Kickin Grass and Takin Names (Sapphire Blue):
Kickin Grass and Takin Names knew that this was a big game. With both teams sitting at 2-1 records this contest would really have an impact on the league rankings! Kicking Grass and Taking Names came out on fire with 14 runs scored in the bottom of the 1st. Yikes!!! Ballz n Dollz scrambled to catch up but the damage was already done. Ballz and Dollz only allowed one run to score in each the 2nd and 3rd innings, proving their defense prowess could stand up to Kickin Grass and Takin Names.  However, Kickin Grass and Takin Names takes the gold for most runs scored this week! Kickin Grass and Takin Names wins 23-9.
