Thursday Rocky Mountain Lake Park - Week 2 Highlights

Banzai Lightning vs. Don't Stop Ballieving

This was a great game to ref! Kudos to both teams.  Lightning got on the board first with a Justin Spanbauer RBI single in the top of the 1st inning. Ballieving would answer with a SAC fly from Jenna Huelskamp in the bottom of the 1st. We would remain tied for the next two innings even though both teams threatened often. Then in the top of the 4th inning, Lightning broke the tie with a single run with a solid team effort. Lightning was threatening again in the top of the 5th inning but Ballieving's first baseman Scott Huelskamp made a fantastic, not quite Willie Mays, over the shoulder catch to keep Lightning from scoring. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning, Ballieving played some small ball of their own and was able to plate the tying run, 2-2. Finally, in the top of the 8th inning, Lightning heard some thunder from the boots of Troy Terrill and Hunter Dunham. Terrill blasted a triple and  Dunham gave his team the lead with a HUGE SAC fly. That's all they would need with their tight defense. Banzai Lightning wins, 3-2 (in 8 innings).

Flour Power vs. Alcoballics

Power started this show with four runs in the top of the 1st inning. It could have been five runs but someone (who I will not name to help them save face) tried to stretch a triple into a HR and got out in the process. Ballics would then answer with three of their own runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, 4-3. Ballics tightened up their defense for the next two innings to keep Power off the board and at the same time was able to plate five runs across those same two innings, 4-8. This must have lit a little fire in Power because they scored four runs in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game, 8-8. Both teams ran out of offense steam and played some stellar defense which kept this game tied until the top of the 9th inning. One note worth example of this defense was the Ballics' Chuck Mariom turning a double play in the bottom of the 6th inning. After each team scored a single run in the 9th inning, we finally got a winner in the 10th.  Power took the lead 10-9 in the top half of the inning but Ballics found their third or maybe their fourth wind. With the game tied, Molly Nemer was the hero of the inning. She booted a SAC fly in which her teammate tagged up and scored from second base to win the game. Power made a great diving catch on her ball but the good base running was too much. Good game!!   Alcoballics wins, 11-10. (in 10 innings)

Grit vs. Stash 'n Lash

There must have been some gaping holes in these defenses because balls were flying everywhere!!! Grit scored in five of their seven at bats and Lash scored in five of their six at bats. Now that's what I call offense. Grit scored one in the 1st, one in the 3rd, four in the 4th, three in the 5th, and one in the 7th. These runs were highlighted by a Tommy Nichal  solo HR in the top of the 3rd inning. Now that is a lot of scoring but Lash was able to do even more. They scored four in the 1st, three in the 3rd, one in the 4th, five in the 5th, and one in the 6th. This offensive outburst was all started in the bottom of the 1st with a Justin O'keefe grand slam! Josh Eldridge found a hole in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-RBI single. Sure defense wins championships, but chicks (and dudes) love offense. Good work to both teams! Stash 'n Lash wins, 14-10.

Rubber Balls and Liquor vs. Cause We Ball so Hard

I guess they lived up to their team name today. Hard's Scott Aller blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the 1st inning to give his team the lead. Normally if someone kicks a grand slam I'd say they are a sure thing to have had the best day but not in this one. T.J. Gerber was in beast mode. He booted a solo HR right after Aller's grand slam in the 1st, a 2-run HR in the 3rd, and a RBI double in the 5th. I'd call that in the zone. I'm not sure who pitched for Liquor but you might want to just walk him if you play these guys again. As good as their offense was their defense needs some work. Liquor was able to score one run in the top of the 4th inning and ruin what could have been a blowout. I have a feeling if these two teams play again it will be a little closer, Rubber Balls know how to bounce back!!  Cause We Ball so Hard wins, 9-1.

Wednesday - Cuernavaca Park - Week 4 Highlights

Put It In The Bunt vs. Step Parents:

It all started with a 2 RBI smackaroo from "fill in Phil," and Bunt came out early in this one recording 5 runs in 2 innings of play.  In the top of the 4th inning Bunt was threatening to score again but Chris Loupee thwarted their efforts with a great unassisted double-play..this great play seemed to energize the Step Parents as they turned it up!  Jeremy Wagner started the comeback in the bottom of the 5th inning with an RBI single and later scored at the expense of Bunt's eager throwing spectacle.   This throwing spectacle continued in the next inning and before we knew it, we had a 7-5 ball game and people were beginning to think Step Parents might have a chance here, but Bunt refocused and shut down the 7th...Put It In The Bunt wins 7-5.

Punani Patrol vs. Pitches Be Crazy:

Andrew Rohr started this one out in the top of the 1st inning with fancy foot work...kicked a slow roller down the 3rd baseline for an infield single but then decided to stretch it to second once the throw attempt was made to 1st.  There he found himself in a situation where he was able to dodge the throw made at him and then make it all the way home for the score...have we learned to throw to the base vs. throwing at the person yet?  Trust yo teammates to make the play!!  The play of the day came from James Lee (check it out here), who robbed PP of a homer with a "David Tyree" type catch in right field...truly amazing James...nice work!!  PBC's Paul Everton came back this week for a web redemption where he faked us out again!!  Acting as though he was going to kick it multiple times and then pulling up at the last second truly showed us this was no web redemption...he was simply just messing with us!!  Paul kicked an infield single, however the ref robbed him of it and called him out at 1st...possibly he was just too confused from all the fakery!!  Punani had 3 innings where they scored a total of 10 runs thanks to a Chris House 2 run double, a "Frothy the Snowman" solo shot, and the amazing endurance of Kelsey Rosinski not only smacking RBI singles but also pinch running all night...we were gassed just watching her!!  PP ended two innings with double plays including the last one, however PBC still recorded their token 1 run and we consider that a win for PBC...gotta get 1 before we go drinking!!  Punani Patrol wins 11-1.

Memorial Ball Park - Week 3 Highlights

Jiminy Kick It vs. Blue Balls V: Both teams came into this crucial mid-season game looking to bolster their records for the playoffs. JKI wanted nothing more than to get on the board early, but 3 early pop outs in the 1st set them packing. Wes Wilhelm went to work on offense early and often, as his 3 run bomb to left center started an 8 run onslaught in the bottom of the 1st. JKI was searching for a hole in the BBV defense, but there was no weak spot to be found on this night. BBV was up to their old tricks, as they went bombing again for a 7 spot in the 2nd, increasing the lead to 15. JKI was able to muster some offense, getting kickers on 1st and 2nd, however an improbable double play and error ended JKI’s hopes in the 3rd. BBV hit the brakes in the bottom of the 3rd, only able to produce 1 run against a rejuvenated JKI defense. JKI was kicking in every direction, hoping for an offensive battle, BBVs defense came and shut them down 1-2-3 in the 4th. BBV went to put the icing on the cake in the 4th, as a 3 run lunar shot by Chris Green capped off another 8 run inning for BBV. JKI had seen enough and were able to lock down BBV the rest of the way, but weren’t able to mount a valiant comeback. Blue Balls V wins, 24-0.

Bazinga vs. KickBallers: Bazinga was looking to maintain a perfect record this season, as KB was looking to put the 1st L in the column. Bazinga knew KB’s plan, and had to score early, and did so with an 8 run top of the 1st. KB’s weren’t too happy that their plan had been thwarted, and looked poised to strike back, but were denied that opportunity in the 1st. Bazinga went back to what they did in the 1st, and with the assistance of 2 2 run home runs, went up by 12. KB was able to put a stop to Bazinga’s onslaught in the 3rd and 4th, while also being able to score 1 of their own to cut the lead to 11. Bazinga went back to what worked in the 1st inning, tallying up 4 more runs in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to go up 17. KB wouldn’t go away quietly, as they pressed the gas pedal for 4 runs in the 6th to cut the lead to 14. Bazinga went and put the cherry on top with 1 more run in the 7th to end the game. Bazinga wins, 19-5.

Basic Pitches vs. I’ll Cut a Pitch: Both teams were looking to get on the north side of .500 this week, and it was a battle from the start. BP got on the board in the 1st scoring 1 on a very close call. ICP wasn’t happy that they were trailing early, but BP was having none of it as they were able to shut down ICP through 2 innings. Bottom 3rd, and ICP got the upper hand on a couple perfectly placed bloop singles and were able to bring 2 home, gaining the lead 2-1. This game was as tight on defense as any game, as there was no scoring through the 6th. Top 7, and BP was on a final prayer, but alas a blast to center field and an overthrow at home allowed BP to not only tie the game, but also brought home the winning run…great comeback BP!!  Basic Pitches wins, 3-2

Hashtag Balls vs. Left Shark: Both teams were coming off an L in week 2 and wanted a W in a big way. #Balls got on the board early, as they were able to slide a run in in the 1st. Alex Morehead for Left Shark was unamused, and went yard to deep left center, starting a 3 run 1st to go up 3-1. Both teams were able to lockdown each other on defense, as both teams went 1-2-3. Bottom 3rd, and Alex Morehead was back up to the plate, and went yard again on #Balls, this time for a 2 run HR to cap a 3 run 3rd to go up 6-1. Left Shark wouldn’t let go on offense, as another 3 run inning in the 4th proved to be the nail in the coffin, going up 8. #Balls had a glimpse of glory, as they were able to score 2 in the top of the 6th before getting tagged out to end the game. Left Shark wins, 9-3

Pitches Be Crazy vs. Brews On First: The nightcap game was definitely worth staying around for. Both teams came in defensively ready, as neither team could get a base runner in the 1st. BOF went to their offense in the 2nd, as a double down the left field line allowed them to bring 2 runs home in the bottom of the 2nd. Bottom 3, and PBC wasn’t ready to let the game get out of hand, as Daniel Wylie left his body in midair to snag the inning ending catch. BOF was able to score again in the 4th to go up 3-0, and thrice more in the 5th to put up a seemingly large mountain in a 6 run lead. PBC had one more opportunity to get an offense going, but tonight was BOF’s night. Brews On First wins, 6-0

City Park - Week 4 Highlights

City Park Field 1

Left Sharks (Carolina Blue):  vs. Wombat Mermaids (Kiwi Green): What a barnburner! These teams really put the “O” back in offense with some draw dropping plays in this hotly contested matchup. The undefeated Wombat Mermaids started out the onslaught with three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. However, the Left Sharks were quick to respond with four runs in the top of the 2nd inning and another four in the top of the 4th. From there on out, the Left Sharks hung on for dear life while the Wombat Mermaids continuously tried to fly/swim their way back into the game. However, the Left Shark’s star pitcher Colton Cuny and his patented “cyclone” pitch helped keep the vicious Wombat Mermaids at bay. In addition to striking out the last batter of the game, Cuny also caused 8 swing-and-misses alongside several foul ball outs. Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives TV host and GO Kickball fanatic Guy Fieri (who was actually in Fort Collins this week for reals…) was especially impressed with Cuny’s skills on the mound, “I have never seen someone so skilled with his hands as Colton… And I have seen a lot of impressive chefs in my day!” Left Sharks win 13-9.

City Park Field 2

Kicktease (Forest Green) vs. New Kicks on the Block (Sapphire Blue): New Kicks on the Block’s defense held pretty strong throughout this contest despite being under-manned, but ironically enough it was the kicking game that held them back from victory. New Kicks on the Block started things off with a great double play pop up force out in the bottom of the 1st inning, but they couldn’t stop Kicktease from taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. For the next few innings, the defenses held firm until GO Kickball all-star Adam Eccher stepped up to the plate and crushed a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th inning. It was oooouuutttt of thhheeerreee!!! Check out the replay here. Kicktease wins 4-0.

City Park Field 3

There’s Always Next Year (Tennessee Orange) vs. Lunchbox Violators (Daisy Yellow): In a game full of strategy, sometimes the best tactic is to just kick the crud out of the ball!!! The Lunchbox Violators struggled with this aspect of the game as they loaded the bases on two different occasions but couldn’t score a run until the bottom of the 7th inning. On the other hand, There’s Always Next Year used the corners of the field strategically to get a couple runs on the board, including a two run home run in the top of the 6th inning by Dane “The Boomstick” Anderson. The Captain for There’s Always Next Year, Chad Cheshire, said after the game about Anderson, “Dane never ceases to amaze me. He is really amazing at using his sticks to boom those balls out of the park. And to clarify what I just said—he’s got such skinny legs we call them ‘sticks’…” Unfortunately, even a three-run rally in the bottom of the 7th inning wasn’t enough for those Lunchbox Violators. There’s Always Next Year wins 4-3.

City Park Field 4

Odd Balls (Purple) vs. Social License to Intoxicate (Orange): Without their captain at the helm, Social License to Intoxicate could have been adrift in this extremely important contest—with a win and a Wombat Mermaids’ loss, Social License to Intoxicate would rise to #1 in the early season standings. The Odd Balls weren’t going to go easy though, as they were able to keep the game tied through four innings. However, that’s when the young legs on Social License to Intoxicate really started to gain the upper hand (or upper leg really…).  Interim captain Paul “The Mouth” Schwarz, was pleased with the way Social License to Intoxicate played: “I was really happy to see our team rising to the occasion when we needed to in the later innings. We couldn’t have done it though without our 12th man/MVP, Lil’ Garrett. That baby really knows how to get us motivated.” (Yes, their MVP is a baby of one of their players…) Social License to Intoxicate wins 8-3.

Sunday Funday - Cuernavaca Park - Week 4 Highlights

After School Special vs. Kevin Bacon:

Both teams started their scoring in the 2nd inning with After School scoring 2 and Kevin answering with 1.  ASS scored 2 more in the top of the 3rd inning and from their simply sat down with lock down defense.  Kevin was only able to get 1 more run in the rest of the game since ASS was all over them.  Bacon even had a chance to score more in the bottom of the 5th inning when ASS made a leaping catch to keep runners from scoring...ASS is good!!  After School Special wins 4-2.

Star Spangled Hammered vs. Untouchaballs:

Welp, the hardest part in this game was keeping score!!!  We felt like we were back on track by the 5th inning after moving on past 1 referee and getting another seasoned in.  Boy oh boy...it ain't easy being a referee...thanks for your patience!!  We agreed the score to be 4-2 to start the 5th inning and at the end of the 7th inning it was the same score!!  With a little lock-down D and stellar pitching, neither team could record a run so we finished where we started!!  Untouchaballs win 4-2.

Booze on First vs Shinobi Dragon Ninja:

Michael Mazzone got Booze on First, first with a 2 RBI smackaroo and a 2-0 lead.  Lost Prophet's, Jesse Irvin answered in the bottom of the 3rd with an RBI, then the team followed with another run in the bottom of the 4th inning to make this one a tie ball game!!  Shinobi had a chance to score more but Booze put down the beer for a second and made an unbelievable double play to keep runs from scoring.  Starting in the 5th inning Booze put in special video game codes and scored 7 runs in 2 innings thanks in part to a 3-run shot by Evan Constan.  Shinobi simply didn't know the up-down up-down left-right-left start toggle code and was unable to answer.  Booze on First wins 9-2.

Hose Dragers vs. My Balls Just Dropped:

Even Hose Draggers couldn't have put out their own fire power in the first two innings in this one...Hose scored 5 runs in the 1st two innings and took a commanding lead.  Allstar pitcher, Tao Nguyen, and gold glove winner, Alex Patterson came through for MBJD with a solo shots however MBJD were only able to plate 3 in this one.  Hose Draggers 7-3.

Ballsagna vs. Roshambo:

If you haven't heard the news, well that's why we're here!!  Front runner for MVP of the Sunday Funday crew is Steve Berglund and he only added more points to the MVP pile this weekend.  Steve pitched a shutout against the high-octane offense of Ballsagna AND had 4 strikeouts...WOW!!  Steve, we gotta give it to you homie...they may be changing the game of kickball because of you!!  Nuff said - mic drop.  Roshambo wins 2-0.

Wednesday - Cuernavaca Park - Week 3 Highlights

Field 1

Step Parents vs. Pitches Be Crazy:

By far, the play of the game in this one was from Alison "no name" ???'s RBI kick to right field with the bases loaded that scored one and put PBC on the board!!  Not until Wee Katie's were we able to learn about the gal behind this miraculous shot and learned that she DID have a last name...deLassus...we'll publish it here...but please keep that name on the DL!!  Just possibly cooler, but we're not sure - you decide - were the 20 runs Step Parents put up in 4 innings of chilly, wind-to-your-back weather...ok, we're sure...Step Parents brought out the backhands in this one for sure...crazy pitches.  Tom Welsh had a 2 RBI single top 2, Chris Loupee followed that with a 2-run homer, Jake Simpson had a solo shot in the top of 3 and Dan Welsh followed that with a 3-run homer in the same inning.  What was listed there was a total of 8 runs...they scored 20...you get the point!  Backhanders win 20-1.

Field 2

Punani Patrol vs. Put It In The Bunt

There are many ESPN analysts that feel like this could be THE potential championship matchup in The 5280 Cup.  The game could not have been better, although we wish the weather would not have been fa fa F'ing freezing!!  Bunt came out fast in this one scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning yet Punani answered right back in the top of the 2nd to score 1...so tied 1-1.  Defense from both of these teams are getting progressively better from already being top 5 in the league.  Jeff Cornetet's pitching is malfunctioning neuron transmitters kicker after kicker and yet, Bunt was able to go up by 1 scoring in the bottom of the 4th inning with aggressive base running.  Punani answered in the 6th and this one went into extra's.  Right out the gate Punani had base runners in the top of the 8th and squeaked in a run to take a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the 8th inning.  Bunt had an opportunity to score at the plate but Punani put on a relay throwing clinic and made the play to seal this one up.  Either way, great game for both teams.  Punani Patrol wins 3-2.

City Park - Week 3 Highlights

City Park Field 1

New Kicks on the Block (Sapphire Blue) vs. Wombat Mermaids (Kiwi Green): Kickball is a crazy game… But when you add-in 20-40 mile-per-hour gusts of wind that are blowing over cones, things get even crazier!!! This crazy contest started out promising for New Kicks on the Block as they loaded the bases in the top of the 1st inning, but the Wombat Mermaid’s new star pitcher Melvin “The Pistol” Anderson was able to eventually find the strike zone and get out of the inning with two consecutive great plays for outs. Then the Wombat Mermaids turned up the offense in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a two-run home run by Allen “The Golden Boy” Koprowski’s. Once again though, in the top of 3rd and 7th innings New Kicks on the Block loaded the bases, but the Wombat Mermaid’s defense led by Anderson’s MVP effort kept them at bay with the help of some double plays. Despite Jackie “The Road Runner” Berezoski’s impressive base running that scored a couple runs for New Kicks on the Block, the Wombat Mermaids proved they were better equipped to handle the elements on this night. Wombat Mermaids win 8-2.

City Park Field 2

Kicktease (Forest Green) vs. There’s Always Next Year (Tennessee Orange): For awhile there it looked like it might be another repeat of Kicktease’s soul-crushing...ok ruff loss from last week, but they really showed their determination in this one!!  All the veteran experience for both squads really slowed things down as both teams had a strategic game plan going in—catch the ball good and kick the ball hard. Unfortunately, the elements really hindered the flow despite a beautiful web gem double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th inning by Sean Blair and Andrew Miner from There’s Always Next Year. You can see the replay right here. This time though, Kicktease’s soul was not crushed. Kicktease wins 3-2.

City Park Field 3

Lunchbox Violators (Daisy Yellow) vs. Social License to Intoxicate (Orange): “If it wasn’t for that one inning…” is what a lot of Lunchbox Violators fans were saying after this game. Social License to Intoxicate jumped out to early lead on a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning, but things really got out of hand in the bottom of the 3rd inning… Let’s just say that there were so many home runs, that the official couldn’t keep track of individual stats, now that's violating! After the carnage was over, Social License to Intoxicate had scored 7 runs and was leading 9-1. Dicky V, ESPN college basketball analyst and kickball aficionado couldn’t contain himself when he screamed out, “Those PTPers (“Primetime Players”) on Social License to Intoxicate are so good, they should open up a clinic—they could even charge co-pays!!!” There was one bright spot for the Lunchbox Violators though—Brian Strock kicked two solo home runs in the top of the 3rd and 6th innings. Way to go Brian!  Social License to Intoxicate wins 10-3.

City Park Field 4

Odd Balls (Purple) vs. Left Sharks (Carolina Blue): In this matchup of experience versus youth, anything could happen… And it did! The Odd Balls jumped out to an early lead of 4-1 in the bottom of 2nd inning, but the Left Sharks quickly closed the gap and actually had the lead 7-5 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Then Adam Davis of the Oddballs stepped up to the plate… And crushed a three run home run out of the park to take the lead!!! Thomas Torres, long time captain of the Odd Balls, said after the game, “Adam’s kick was so amazing, it brought a tear to my eye…” From there the Odd Balls were able to hold off Left Sharks.  Meanwhile, Nadia Fahoum, captain of the Left Sharks had this to say after the game: “I liked our team’s enthusiasm tonight, we seemed to stay in unison, and hey, we're Left Sharks!" then did a "mic drop" and walked away...we hear you can now buy Left Shark costumes...Theme Week is coming up!!  Odd Balls win 8-7.

Sunday Funday - Cuernavaca Park - Week 3 Highlights

After School Special vs. Star Spangled Hammered

This game was full of some great defense. Hammered got some stellar pitching in the top of the 2nd inning from Jon Ruthiewied. He recorded all three outs. Hammered also got a fantastic double play from Melissa Van Hart(?) later in the game. With these plays and several others, Hammered was able to keep After School to scoring just two runs in the top of the 5th inning. After School had some good defense of their own. One of which came when their catcher made a spectacular grad to end an inning. But Hammered was able to score single runs in the bottom of the 1st, 2nd, and 5th innings and win this game. Star Spangled Hammered wins 3-2.

Dice vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball-Air

Another great game, from two great teams. Dice would get on the board first with one run in the top of the 3rd inning. They would then score two runs in the top of the 4th inning off a Chris Allard blast. Dice would also plate one more run in the top of the 5th inning. Fresh Kicks' Brandon Frawley put together some good pitching in the top of the 6th and 7th innings to keep Dice from scoring anymore. Dice also played some pretty good defense in this one. Some of that 'D' came from John Anderson in the bottom of the 7th inning. Dice wins 4-0.

Hose Draggers vs. Dice

What a good game!! Dice was able to score the only two runs of the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning. They came on a Daniel Linn two RBI boot. Check out his sexxxxy pose on Facebook (MUCH better than his kick)!!  The rest of the game was full of solid defense and great pitching. Dice's Jon Graffom pitched an awesome 5th inning and Draggers' Chad Ferrier matched that effort in the bottom half of the inning. Nice game everyone!!!  Dice wins 2-0.

Shenobi Dragon Ninja vs. Untouchaballs

'Balls took an early lead in this contest when they scored one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. The score would remain 1-0 until the bottom of the 5th inning when 'Balls was able to plate two more runs. The Dragons would not go quietly and got their offense going in the top of the 7th inning. Ninja, Chad Huffman, kicked a two run HR to make the score 3-2. Untouchaballs' defense would bend but not break....check out this great play by Corey Hansen!!! or was it??   We love the intensity!!  Untouchaballs was able to end this game with a double play from Tim "Ewing" Gilchrist to solidify the SOLID D...nice work Tim!!  Untouchaballs wins 3-2.

My Balls Just Dropped vs. Ballsagna

Well one team lived up to their name on this Sunday. They put their Balls-on-ya cuz they kept Dropping Balls everywhere!!! They took an early commanding lead with six runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.  Ballsagna added two runs in the 3rd inning, three in the 4th inning, and three more in the 5th inning. It took a while today but My Balls finally Dropped in the 6th and 7th innings. They were able to score a run in each of those innings and get that goose egg off the board. At one point, Ballsagna's Derek Freeman kicked a ball so far it almost went over them there mountains!!!  Holly Balls!! Onya!!  Ballsagna wins 14-2.

Booze on 1st vs. Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon took their first lead of the season when they scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Unfortunately it wouldn't last long because Booze would score five in the top of the 3rd inning and then three more in the 4th and then three more again in the 5th. Even with that going on, Bacon wasn't done. They scored four in the 4th and one in each of the 5th and 6th innings. Booze would finish the scoring with one more in the top of the 7th inning. Booze on 1st wins 12-7.

Fresh Kicks of Ball-Air vs. Roshambo

Good game everyone! The game started with some stellar defense and phenomenal pitching for the first three innings. Then in the top of the 4th inning, Fresh Kicks got a home run from Nathan Trugill and the lead, 2-0. Then finally, in the bottom of the 6th inning Roshambo was able to score four runs. These runs were highlighted by a Lance Pierre two run triple. Roshambo then went out and played some solid defense to close out the victory....this victory takes Roshambo to another level!!!  Roshambo wins 4-0.

After School Special vs. My Balls Just Dropped

Looks like we were training a newbie in this one and the highlights were a little ruff.  My Balls Just Dropped wins 8-7.

Thursday Rocky Mountain Lake Park - Week 1 Highlights

Team Grit vs. Flour Power Too

What a way to start your Go Kickball season! Zack Bolden took the very first pitch of the game deep for a HR!! That's how you set the tone. Team Grit followed up that with scoring one more to take a 2-0 lead. Power Too would answer in the bottom of the 1st with three of their own runs for their first lead, 3-2. In the 2nd inning, Grit would score three and Power Too would score 2 to give us a new ball game, 5-5. Power Too played some good D in the top of the 3rd and then went to work in the bottom of the inning. Power's Molly Nemer booted a RBI double and take back the lead. They would push in one more to make it 7-5. Grit wouldn't go away and had their own answer in the top of the 4th to tie the game at 7-7. Power took their final lead with a run in the bottom of the 5th inning, 8-7. Grit yet again answered with three runs in the top of the 6th inning. This was highlighted by Muki's 2-run double. He would then score that third run of the inning. That would all the scoring in this one. Team Grit 10, Flour Power Too 8.

Don't Stop Ballieving vs. Rubber Balls and Liquor

Ballieving's Cory Johnson got the scoring started with a 2 RBI single in the top of 2nd inning. They would plate one more to take the lead, 3-0. Balls would get their first run in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 3-1. In the top of the 4th inning, Ballieving's Shane McBride blasted a 2-run triple that helped his team take a 6-1 lead. Balls would get a little spark in the bottom of the 4th inning with a Keith Vales solo HR, 6-2. Unfortunately that would be all the score that Balls and Liquor would muster and Ballieving would score one more before this one was over. Don't Stop Ballieving 7, Rubber Balls and Liquor 2.

Stache and Lash vs. Alcoballics

For two rookie teams to Go Kickball this was a really good game. Alcoballics got on the board first with a RBI single by Sarah Tate in the bottom of the 2nd. The 'ballics would score 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning off a Peter Choinski triple (he scored on the same play with an over throw). Finally in the top of the 6th inning, Stache and Lash would break through the Alcoballics defense. They scored one off a RBI single by Justin O'keefe. Stache and Lash would then score two more off a triple by Kevin Shiflett in the top of the 7th. It was just too little, too late. Alcoballics 5, Stache and Lash 3.
