Sunday Funday - Week 6 Highlights

After School Special vs. Star Spangled Hammered

Special got this game started with five runs in the top of the first inning, damn THAT'S Special!! This charge was lead by Calvin Laue's RBI single, fancy foot work, and plenty of shenanigans. Hammered answered in the bottom of the 2nd inning and would get on the board with 2 runs. Calvin Laue's was at it again in the top of the third inning when he booted another RBI single...man this kids on fire!! Then in the top of the fourth inning Special's Kim Town got into the mix with a RBI single of her own and Special had a commanding lead. Hammered answered with a rally of their own starting with an RBI ground rule double from Rob Morrow that led to the team scoring 3 and bringing the game closer.  However, SSH was unable to start another rally as ASS went on lockdown!!  The MVP of the game was Special's Eden Emerich, just because she's just that awesome/Special!!  After School Special wins, 8-5.

Hose Draggers vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air

Kicks scored their first with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and that was all they would need. They managed this because they got a three run home run from Bobby Frawley...let's get that kid signed up for fall!!  The score would remain the same until the fourth inning. One reason it would remain tied was Kicks's Tony Domenico and his double play to end the top of the second inning...nice job Tony!! In the top of the fourth inning, Draggers got on the board with a single run and we wondered if there was a chance for a comeback.  However, Kicks would counter that with two of their own runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Brett Callaway blast/home run. Kicks would add even more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put this one further out of reach.  Draggers did mount a comeback but fell short in the top of the seventh inning. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win, 9-3.

New Kicks on the Block vs. Booze on First

This game went back and forth throughout!!  Ashleigh Fuller drove in two runs in the top of the first inning to give Block an early lead in this one. Booze answered in the bottom of the first with a run & tied the game in the bottom of the third.  Booze kept this momentum going in the bottom of the fourth inning and took the lead with an RBI single. Block was about to go quietly, and scored the tying run in the top of the fifth inning...was this going to go to extra innings??  Quickly we learned...nope, as Booze finally broke the close game up with three runs in the bottom of the fifth due to a Cayman Hood bunt that scored 3 runs!!! Now that requires some crazy base running and errant throws...it was magical to see in person!!  It's ALL about that ONE inning, not another run was scored.  Booze on First wins, 7-4.

Star Spangled Hammered vs. Untouchaballs

Star started the scoring with a triple from Gary Spetseris and he would then score on an overthrow. Balls would then take the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a Blair Withington solo home run who had literally just signed on with Untouch. Balls extended their lead in the bottom of the third with a SAC fly from Nick Schurr. Star had another spark of offense that came from John Rambo in the top of the fourth inning who booted a RBI single. However, Balls would have too much offense in this one and would get a two run RBI triple from George McGuirk and a two run home run from Nick "Shoeless" Schurr.  Nick!!  Where dem shoes at?? Untouchaballs win, 10-3.

Memorial Ballpark - Week 6 Highlights

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs Pitches Be Crazy 2: This was a match for the ages, an instant ESPN Classic!!  PBC would go on the early assault with a run in the bottom of the 1st showing they meant business. Top 2, and FBKA would strike back after a controversial single would turn around into a run to tie up the game at 1. Troy Martinez would be on the bump for PBC2 and would show the league there’s a new sheriff on the mound and at the plate with an RBI double just inside the left field line to put his squad up 2-1. Martinez and Co. would go on the defensive, shutting out FBKA in the 3rd and 4th in order. Bottom 4th, and what would prove to be a bloop single by Kenzie Meek Beck turned another run in for PBC2 to double their lead late. Troy Martinez was still on the bump in the 6th, had gone 5 2/3 of 1 run ball, but the winds of change came blowing over Prospect Lake and Lindie Sailor blasted a 2 run stand up double to center to give FBKA a fresh breath of tied ball game at 3. Top 7, and FBKA convert on an overthrow at 1st which allows FBKA to score the game winning run! Fresh Kicks of Ball Air wins, 4-3
AeroTek Ball Busters vs Win or Lose, We Still Booze: Both teams came into this game expecting to get out of this late season game alive and kicking for the Pikes Peak Cup. Lindsey Sievers showed the GKB faithful what a catch should be with an homage to Suzanne Summer and the clench with a catch using her knees!!!! Both teams went scoreless through the 1st, and the game changed in the 2nd.  ABB would get on the board in the 2nd, thanks to a Rodney Cummins double to open up the scoring affair. WLWB would strike back with a Tim Hayes double to knot the game back up at 1. ABB would repeat their 2nd inning effort twice, to go up 3-1. Top 4th, and David Simpson would come up roses, with a rocket to the bleachers in right to get WLWB with in 1 run. Ryan Gimlen was not happy with Simpson’s score, and would propel ABB to a 3 run lead with a stand up 2 run triple. WLWB was looking for answers on offense, but they came up with more questions as they were unable to convert any offense in the 5th or 6th. ABB would try to cement the game with 3 runs in the 5th to go up 8-2 late in the game. David Simpson would try to will his team to another win with his 2nd blast of the night, but it wasn’t to be. Aerotek Ball Busters win, 8-3

Vicious and Ambitious vs Kick Tease: VA and KT both wanted the most out of this game before the big tournament in 2 weeks time. KT would strike early with 2 big runs in the bottom of the 1st to go up 2-0. VA looked poised to strike in the 2nd, however they were turned away after 3 straight pop ups. KT would find the largest hole in the VA defense and expose it as an eruption on offense came from KT, scoring 7 runs capped by a Jen Hollis 3 run double to deep centerfield. VA would have offensive struggles early and often as the KT defense held strong and kept VA off the boards through 4. KT would score once more in the 3rd, to go up a margin of 10-0. Ryan Burns had had enough of the scoring, and was about to change the game in favor of VA with a massive 2 run double off the left field wall to bring the game within 8. Nick Raynor would keep the KT offense at bay in the 5th with a diving catch at 3rd to keep KT off the board. VA would score again in the 6th and 7th, but was too little too late as KT hangs on for the critical win. Kick Tease Wins, 10-4

Bazinga vs Tuckin With Jenner: Both teams came into the week coming off massive wins looking to one up each other for the season finale. Neither team scored in the 1st, but in the 2nd, things got good quick. Top 2, and Bazinga goes hard for the 1st run, but a scary scene at 3rd as Erik Blessman suffers an injury sliding over 3rd base, causing him to leave the game, GET BETTER SOON ERIK!! After a delay, TWJ came hard and fast, taking what appeared to be a commanding 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. Bazinga would go harder than normal, with not 1, not 2, but 3 2 run bombs by Keith Hausam, Matt Howes, and Nate Kischer to blow open the game, enough to warrant free tacos 7-3. TWJ wasn’t too thrilled with Bazinga’s reign of offense, and would load the bases with nobody out, but the next three batters would be put down, avoiding the scoring threat entirely. Keith Hausam would strike again in the 3rd, with a massive 2 run double to go up a 6 spot. Randy Griswold would make the defensive play of the game in the top of the 5th, with a line drive catch at 2nd base to stop Bazinga’s offense cold after scoring 1 more run. TWJ had one last spark of offense, but 3 long popouts to center would spell defeat. Bazinga wins, 10-3

Ballsagna vs Blue Balls: Both teams came into the week needing a statement win for the playoffs and seeding. Ballsagna would get on the board early with a 2 run triple by Peter Brachhold to cap a 3 run 1st inning. Blue Balls had an answer for everything, as a leadoff HR by Ricky Favilla and a 2 run bomb by Chris Green would knot the game up at 3 runs apiece. Ballsagna would strike back with back to back RBI doubles to go up by 2. Blue Balls would say anything you can do, we can do better as they mounted 3 runs in the 2nd to go up 6-5. Neither team would score in the 3rd, giving the appearance that the game may have gone into a defensive checkmate. Bottom 4, Blue Balls would put together a series of singles and bring home another run to double their lead. Ballsagna would get batters on in the 5th, but Wes Wilhelm would get out of the jam unscathed. Blue Balls would try to put the game out of reach with a 3 run jack by Jon Wright, followed up by an RBI double by Nicole Schanel would solidify a 4 run inning to go up 11-5, essentially icing the game. Nicole Yates would put her best foot forward and drive home a bases loaded run to get Ballsagna back within 5 runs late in the game in the 6th. Not only does she kick, she can field too as Yates has a sensational diving snag at 3rd to keep Blue Balls off the base paths and keep the game within range. Ballsagna would get runners on the corners in the 7th, but the Blue Balls defense proved to be too much, securing the win. Blue Balls wins, 11-6

Hashtag Balls vs HeadShots Should Count: In an offensive fury type of game, either team could’ve very easily won this battle. Hashtag would get out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, making HSSC perk up their defense more than usual now playing from behind. Top 2, and Hashtag would go to work on the HSSc defense, started by an Alli Snatchco 2 run double, followed by 2 rbi doubles to cap a 4 run 2nd to go up a handful early. Alyssa Blea wouldn’t stand for a sht out, and drills an RBI single to right just past Joey McFly’s outstretched arms. Neither team would score in the 3rd, as both teams made defensive adjustments that paid massive dividends, nor so did we think. Top of the 4th, and Adam Huerta took his turn at the dish and blasts home 2 with a stand up double to go up 7-1. Baylor Finch would be the start of HSSC’s revolution with an RBI triple and score to make it a 7-3 game. Hashtag would get on the board agin in the 5th, scoring 1 to go up by 5 again. The bottom of the 5th inning was a massive turning poing for HSSC as a 2 run double by Chris Lyon, followed by a 2 run single by Klint Kane would make it a 1 run shootout to the end. Christian Watts and Joey McFly would go pitch for pitch in the 6th and 7th, neither wanting to give an inch, and Joey McFly hangs on for the game of the night’s win. Hashtag Balls wins, 8-7

We’ve Got The Runs vs. Pandora’s Box: Both PB and WGTR would go to war, looking to get ahead of one another going into playoff stretch. WGTR would have liked to score, until a sensational double play by PB would end the inning. Maria Petkash would get the offense going in the 2nd for WGTR with a nice speed single that barely beat the throw, but was to no avail as she was stranded. Mike Fagerness would break up the scoreless tie in the 4th, beaming an RBI single to center to put WGTR on the board in the 4th 1-0. Pandora would strike back, with an Andrew Ciccolini bomb to knot the game up at 1, showing neither team was going to give in easily. Bottom of the 6th inning, still a 1 all game, and Andrew Elsass and Candace Knoefler would make a dominant duo, getting into scoring position with nobody out. Rochelle Lira would be the games MVP for Pandora’s Box, as a sac fly RBI drives in Elsass and gives PB a 2-1 lead. WGTR would strike and get on base with runners at 1st and 2nd, but PB found a way to hang on to a very tightly contested contest. Pandora’s Box wins, 2-1

Balls and Dolls vs Beauties and Balls: This late season matchup showed why we play the game every week. Beauties and Balls were poised to make a statement with a win late into the season, but Balls and Dolls was undermanned this week and was unable to field a team, giving Beauties and Balls the win, 3-0

Wednesday - Regular Kickball - Cuernavaca Week 5

Cuernavaca Field 1 (6pm)

Put It In The Bunt vs. Step Parents:  It was a beautiful day for kickball (haven't said that much this year) and a great day to go back to fundamentals.  Our first game to start the night was scoreless for the first two innings as both teams were on lockdown defensively and we knew it wasn't going to be an easy "W" for either team.  The defense for SP wasn't broke until right-fielder, Michelle Stanford, of PIITB, showed off her well placed kicking skills with an RBI bringing in the first run of the inning and first blood...nice work Michelle.  Unfortunately for SP, the runs kept trickling in 1-run at a time over the next couple innings just like nails in a coffin and you know it's hard to get out of the coffin!! PIITB's own Michael Gebhardt from right field put the final nail in with a RBI in the 6th to end the scoring for the game. David Bayouth threw in his hat for best pitcher in the league with an impressive shut out against the high-powered Step Parent attack. All in all, the game was great simply because the teams colors were Orange and Blue and we all know what that means.  GO Broncos! Put It In The Bunt Wins 4-0.

Cuernavaca Field 2 (6pm)

Don't Stop Ballieving vs. Team Grit: This was round 2 of this matchup and these guys and gals came out to play!!  This game came down to the wire and it was going to take all seven innings to find the winner!!!  Now that's how we like it!  This game was filled with more defensive highlights than we knew what to do with!!  Patrick Homans from Grit showed his defensive skills in the 2nd by getting all three outs himself to stop DSB from having a chance to score.  However, Don't Stop DID start scoring in the 3rd plating 1, and came back in the 4th with another 2 to take a commanding 3-0 lead.  DSB would've had more opportunity to increase the lead but Team Grit's 3rd basemen, Ben "Arenado" Robbins, show cased the strength of his gun by throwing out 4 people in the game, which definitely earned him the Golden Glove nod from us...see his seasons highlights here!!  Grit started a late rally in the 6th when they brought 2 across to make it a 3-2 game and we had ourselves a nail biter!  Grit was looking to tie it up with another score but DSB's first baseman, Dan Kessenich, made his "Arenado" mark with an amazing high jump catch to end the 6th and stop Grit's chance of scoring a run.  From there DSB shut out Team Grit and that was all she wrote.  Don't Stop Ballieving Wins 3-2.

Cuernavaca Field 1 (7pm

Banzai Lightning vs. Your Pitch Makes My Kick Hard: You knew this was going to be a high scoring shoot out, both teams came out of the gate running and gunning! Banzai started out the first inning putting up 4 in the first and Kick Hard responded with 2. Banzai made their move in the second and put up another 9 with the help of Nicki Unrein booming a 3 run homer...holy smokes what a shot & what an inning!!  The shots kept firing all night long and both teams were hitting their targets. Patrick Dahnert came out of left field for Banzai and helped on offense with 2 home runs of his own for the night...2 home run nights will quickly get you player of the week!! Unfortunately for Kick Hard, Banzai was not just about offense, they showcased their defense after their early scoring and shut down Kick Hard for the rest of the night.  Banzai Lightning wins 19-6.

Cuernavaca Field 2 (7pm)

Dice vs. Punani Patrol: The friendly banter back and forth from these 2 teams just goes to show what this game is all about, Shit talking! Unfortunately Punani was a little short handed tonight and needed more people to keep the fight even. Dice jumped on the opportunity and danced their way to victory like Michael Jackson in Beat It.  Jordan Hauser from Punani was showing off his dancing skills with a nice catch to end the 2nd and save two runs from scoring. The 3rd inning was a different dance style in this show and the scoring began with Andrew Rohr bringing in a base runner with a single up the middle with a full count on him from the Patrol.  Dices, "New" Dan Linn responded when his turn was up with a 2 RBI triple in the 3rd to take the lead!  Dice put up 5 in the inning and those moves had Punani spinning in circles for the rest of the game. It was all they scored for the game and all they needed to pull out the win. Dice wins 5-3.

City Park - Week 6

City Park Field 1 (6pm)

Purple Cobras (Violet) vs. My Kick Gets it Done (Orange): My Kick Gets it Done sure had some great defensive plays, including a hat-flipping catch by Brian Caffee and a run-saving throw by Kyle Oldham. But, ironically enough, they seemed to largely struggle with kicking the ball. Once again, the Purple Cobras defense stepped up, and they played a solid game from beginning to end by only giving up one run. Kickball fan White Goodman of Globo-gym noted, “I haven’t seen such a good defensive performance since I used some big red balls to block Peter LaFleur’s attack.” Purple Cobras win 4-1

City Park Field 2 (6pm)

Lunchbox Violators (Daisy Yellow) vs. Real Housewives of Greely (Maroon): The game started ominously for the Lunchbox Violators when pitching ace Christoph “The List” Schindler from the Real Housewives of Greely struck out the lead off kicker. However, the Lunchbox Violators struck back in the top of the 5th inning on Johnny “Bravo” Craig’s impressive slide to take a 3-2 lead! Then came the bottom of the 7th inning… Trevor “Dinger” Kurzinger from the Real Housewives of Greely sealed the deal with a walk-off home run that made the crowd go crazy!!! It was pandemonium in the streets! Real Housewives of Greely win 4-3.

City Park Field 3 (6pm)

Oilers SLTI (Irish Green) vs. Kicktease (Old Gold): Both teams had impressive double plays, with Adam Eccher from Kicktease coming through in the 3rd inning, and Adam Morse from the Oilers SLTI doubling up the other team as the pitcher the following inning. However, the staunch defense of the Oilers SLTI combined with their small-ball offensive attack quickly gave them the lead. Michael Schwarz, Captain of the Oilers SLTI, commented, “After a rocky start to the season, I think our squad is coming together. Sometimes, when you change names, you lose your identity. But now we have found it and plan on getting that Oilers name engraved on the Horsetooth Cup this season.” Oilers SLTI win 7-1.

City Park Field 4 (6pm)

High Rollers (Gold) vs. Girls Love Big Kicks (Red): The High Rollers came into this game looking to secure a top seed in the upcoming playoffs, but Girls Love Big Kicks had other ideas… Girls Love Big Kicks set the tone early with a bomb to deep right field by Drew Nelson that helped score Taylor “The Flash” Owings in the bottom of the 1st inning. See video of Owing’s impressive base-running here. Then Captain Brady Andersen of Girls Love Big Kicks knocked in two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, so by the 4th inning the score stood at 6-0. The High Rollers never gave up though, and they inched back within striking distance by the top of the 7th inning. However, they couldn’t get over the hump. Girls Love Big Kicks wins 6-3.

City Park Field 1 (7pm)

Kickaholics (Charcoal) vs. Where My Pitches At (Heliconia): Sometimes the stars align, and everything ends up perfect. Where My Pitches At came so close to perfection during this game on July 22, 2015… Dayna Lewis from Where My Pitches At started things off with a great catch on a screaming line drive, but the Kickaholics held strong. Cassandra Peifer from the Kickaholics dove and snagged a line drive of her own for an out that lifted her teams’ spirits momentarily. However, Where My Pitches At only committed one error the whole game, thereby allowing the Kickaholics to get on the scoreboard in the top of 6th inning. “Perfect practice ensures perfect performance,” says Kickball guru John Wooden. So close! Where My Pitches At wins 7-1.

City Park Field 2 (7pm)

Ballin Bison (Cardinal Red) vs. vs. Ballz N’ Dollz (Light Pink): At the end of this game, there were three 1s on the scoreboard—but only one of the teams was in double digits. Daniel “Boone” Vogt from the Ballin Bison showcased some great base running to score the first run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Then Dustin “Make My Day” Clay from Ballz N’ Dollz had an impressive reflex out as catcher in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Finally, Joel “Sunshine” Sundeen had an inside the park home run in the bottom of the 5th inning for the Ballin Bison. After all the highlights though, Bison proved better than Dollz. Ballin Bison win 11-1.

City Park Field 3 (7pm)

The Too Legit to Kick (White) vs. Suck My Kick (Lime): All you need is one big inning… Before that breakthrough arrived, we got to see a diving/sliding catch from Dano Hughes and an impressive RBI by Cody Wells of Too Legit to Kick. Then came a four run barrage by Too Legit to Kick in the bottom of the 5th inning that really opened things up. However the true highlight came top of the 7th inning when Nathan Schaffer somersaulted to first, thereby scoring a run in the process. Amazing! However, Too Legit to Kick wins 5-1

City Park Field 4 (7pm)

New Kicks on the Block (Kiwi Green) vs. Balls Deep (Blue): Now this is what I call Kickball!!! After a triple by Gareth Tabby from New Kicks on the Block in the bottom of the 2nd inning, the score showed his team up 2-1. However, Balls Deep reclaimed the lead by scoring two runs in the top of the 3rd inning, and so they held on through the bottom of the 6th … Then Carly Lewis from New Kicks on the Block stepped up to the plate and smacked home a lead changing double for her team!!! The Captain for Balls Deep, Dillon Flynn, commented after the game, “With New Kicks on the Block being the only undefeated team left in the league this summer, we were really looking to make up a name for ourselves with a win tonight. Maybe if we make our balls go even deeper next time, we will have a chance again…” New Kicks on the Block wins 4-3.

Sunday Funday - Week 5 Highlights

Hose Draggers vs. Booze on First

Hose Draggers weren't an eligible team for this one, but magic still happened...especially from Shoeless Jesse Clum!!  Playing small ball, and aggressively running the bases, Draggers plated their 1st run in the top of the 1st inning.  In the top of the second inning they expanded their lead with back-to-back solo home runs from Derrick and Dewayne Keeton.  We did not think this feat had ever been done before but HERE IT IS!!  The Draggers would get another run in the top of the third to take a 4-0 lead, but Booze answered in the bottom of the fourth inning when Randy Elbrecht smacked a ball in the gap to earn the team's first run. Booze would score another run in the bottom of the fifth inning and close the gap to two runs. However the fire power of Draggers was spot on for this game and they would answer with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and that was all she wrote!! Hose Draggers win 7-2, but lose by forfeit.

After School Special vs. New Kicks on the Block

This game was Special...meaning all Special.  Calvin Laue got it started with a two RBI double in the top of the first inning and said "Here we GO, it's time to kick for the cycle!!"  Liz Thomas kicked a solo shot in the top of the second inning and Calvin Laue continued is cycle quest by kicking a 2-run home run in the top of the 4th inning. What was so special about Special??  Special scored 12 runs in three of the first four innings....now that's a fantastic, blastastic approach to a game!!  Center fielder Chris Towle made this special game for Special special with an amazing catch to raise our glasses...nice snag Chris!!  After School Special wins 12-0.

Untouchaballs vs. Star Spangled Hammered

SSH said we're playing a regular game even though Untouchaballs were short in numbers for the game...how bout that sportsmanship from our Theme Week Katy Perry winners!!  Both teams came out scoring with great ball placement and fancy foot work around the bases...Balls got two runs in the top of the first inning and Hammered scored one run in the bottom. In the top of the second inning, Balls scored another run and were looking to score more!!  However, Hammered's unknown Free Agent, Ron Haight, made an unassisted double play to end the inning and keep the runs from scoring...let's get THAT guy on the roster!!  Hammered would piggy back on that great play and score another run in the bottom of the third inning and we had ourselves a close one!!  Untouch didn't like this close game and came out scoring 2 in the 4th inning and were only stopped by an amazing catch from Gary Spetseris...these Hammered folks know how to play D!!  Each team scored 2 more runs late, but to put it in the words of John Madden, "you know Al, the team who scores the most points in this game, is going to be the team that wins the game," and that happened here as well! Untouchaballs win, 7-4.

Booze on First vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air

Kicks showed up with great defense in this game!!  Brandon Frawley pitched another great game but it was really the help of the teams lockdown D that made this shutout happen!  Second base woman Allie Yates had an amazing grab to keep the shutout intact.  Fresh was led by Brad "Mr. Coachable" Callaway and his 3 RBI's...this games was actually closer than the score shows, it's just Fresh had all the big plays...great job Ball Air!  Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win, 6-0.

Wednesday - Regular Kickball - Cuernavaca Week 4

Cuernavaca Field 1 (6pm)

Dice vs. Banzai Lightning: Both teams were short on players for this one & we're hoping to see another matchup with them at full capacity!!  Dice rolled into this game being the #1 seed and Banzai the #3 seed.  The electricity was flowing for both teams - we've all become anxious to get on the field and play...this rain has been ridiculous!! Chris Allard started things out smacking a triple in the 1st inning for Dice and the magic started happening!!!  Dice scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and Banzai was instantly in trouble.  However, Banzai answered in the bottom of the 1st and 3rd with 4 runs of their own!!  We're in hopes that putting our games to paper we encourage great play and one of our first tips will always be, BE aggressive on the bases...these teams push the envelope of greatness when it comes to base running!!  Dice answered right back with 3 more runs of their own in the 3rd and 4 more in the 4th to put this one most likely out of reach.  Banzai did respond with rally and had plated 2 runs in the 6th and were looking to continue but Dices' Jenna Rodriguez made a spectacular running catch in the 6th to close out the game!! Nice wheels Jenna!! Dice wins 11-6.

Cuernavaca Field 2 (6pm)

Punani Patrol vs. Put it in the Bunt:  More teachings here from the GKB knowledge bank, or maybe it's the great teams that teach us!!  Every great team is looking for that one breakout inning to make the difference in the game. It requires patience, the ability to grind it out defensively every inning, and lastly knowing when to capitalize!! Tonee "Over-Aggressive Base Coach" Lusk was spot on for Punani Patrol in this one and PP had 6 runs plated in 2 innings to PIITB's 1.  We looked at our Compubox stat archives and teams who score multiple runs in either the 1st or 2nd inning win 83% of the time!!  Getting out to an early lead is a great key to success!!  David Bayouth, from Put it in the Bunt, started the teams momentum by driving in 2 runs to complete a 3-run inning and the score was now 6-4 Punani. However, Kelsey Rosinski for PP was at the top of her game with great fielding at second base and shut down the strategic kicking ideas by PIITB for both the 4th and 5th, yup, she did it all by herself!!  Ok, ok, Jeff Cornetet was pitching some wicked stuff too!!  PIITB had their breakout inning in the 6th and brought the score within one run but still behind.  From there, Jeff Cornett came in for relief for himself and closed out the game with a strikeout! Now THAT is how you do it!!!  Very impressive Jeff!!  Punani Patrol wins 9-8.

Cuernavaca Field 1 (7pm)

Team Grit vs. Don't Stop Ballieving:  The majority of the DSB team was touring with Steve Perry and the original Journey band this week and were short on numbers.  Obviously when your team name is Don't Stop Ballieving everyone still felt they had a chance and "ballieve" it or not, started with the early lead!!  Dan Kressenich, from Team Grit, had an amazing catch in the 4th to end the inning and followed up with a 2-run homer at his next at bat to give them the 4-3 lead. This gave Team Grit all the mojo they needed and the onslaught started!!  There were just too many gaps for Team Grit to drive their balls in to and the runs started pouring in.  Everything was capped off by a homer from Patrick Homans and the icing was on the cake.  Team Grit wins 11-3.

Cuernavaca Field 2 (7pm)

Step Parents vs. Your Pitch Makes My Kick Hard: YPMMKH came out really enjoying the pitches from Step Parents and quickly scored 2 runs...don't wanna take too long doing it!!  Step Parents took their backhanded compliment and answered in the bottom of the 1st scoring 3 runs of their own and taking a 3-2 lead.  SP continued to add to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Adam Logan suuuuuuhmashed a 2-run shot...nice shot Adam, let's see that at The 5280 Cup!!  From the 3rd on, both teams went on lock down defense and Jeremy Burke (Kick Hard) made the catch of the game with a full-speed-laid-out-diving-catch in the 5th...and for that Jeremy - WE THANK YOU!!  Wish we coulda got a photo of that catch!!  Unfortunately, Step Parents weren't going to deliver any pitches to make YPMMKHs' kick hard ENOUGH to plate another run in the game and the 3rd inning score was also the final score.  Step Parents stepped up this week and reprimanded Your Pitch Makes My Kick Hard.  Step Parents win 5-2.

Memorial Ballpark - Week 5 Highlights + Rainout Night

Rainout Night 7/8

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs Bazinga: FBKA came into this week looking very determined to make sure Bazinga’s chances at perfection were wrecked. FBKA came up to plate in the top of the 1st and were unsuccessful in mastering Matt Howes’ pitching. Chris Bodily became the unsung hero in the bottom of the 1st, with a 2 run jack to left center to cap off what would be a big inning for Bazinga, scoring 4. FBKA wouldn’t go away lightly as the pitching machine known as Adam Hills became a dual threat with a solo skyrocket of his own to centerfield to bring the game within 3. Bazinga was as unimpressed as Makayla Maroney at the Olympics and struck back with 2 in the 2nd to blow the doors open to a 5 run lead. FBKA would try with every kick of the ball to get back into the game, but tonight seemed to be Bazinga’s night as every ball ended in the mitts of the defense. Bazinga would go on to tack a run in the 3rd, maybe providing FBKA with a little glimpse of life support. FBKA wouldn’t be able to capitalize on the defensive stop and it proved to be critical. Bazinga must’ve seen the light at the end if the tunnel as they exploded for a 5 run inning capped in large part to a 2 run double to left by Keith Hausam. Bazinga looked like a rabid animal on offense until a snare at 3rd by the man simply known as Chad stopped Bazinga cold. FBKA would come back to the plate in the 5th and strike again with Adam Hills would go deep for the 2nd time of the night to cut the deficit to 10. Nate Kischer would follow suit, however in a more unordinary way as he proved SPEEEEED KILLSSSSS with an INSIDE THE INFIELD HOME RUN to put Bazinga on top by 11 for good. Bazinga wins, 13-2

Balls and Dolls vs Kick Tease: Both teams were beginning to manufacture some elite squads coming into this battle. Allen Paquin didn’t wait long after the festivities began, as he led off the game with a solo shot that may have landed in Castle Rock to put B&D up 1-0. Jason Kawakami would attempt to follow suit for KT, as he led off the bottom of the 1st with a stand up double of his own, trying to jack his team up. It would come to no avail, as the next 3 batters were set down in order. B&D and KT would both find their rhythm in the 2nd, notching 2 runs a piece to keep the game a 1 run difference. Kaitlyn Butts would make a name for herself on defense in the top of the 3rd, with a ball deflecting off her body, staying with it, and coming down to planet Earth with the ball in hand, a once in a good while splendor on defense. KT would use Kaitlyns defense as a power source, as they were able to knot up the game at 3 after 3 innings. Neither team would score in the 4th, making the game lean towards a miracle finish. Stacey Blalock would do her part in the top of the 5th for B&D as a screaming line drive to center drove home the game leading RBI. Not so fast my friends, because KT would have an answer for Stacy, as James Simmons would pop into a sac fly to tie the game, and then KT would score again to take a late 5-4 lead into the 6th. Top 6, and Mary Arambula would jack a single to right to get the offense running, so much, she scored and tied the game at 5 runs a piece after 6th. IF you thought this game was gonna end in a tie, you would be wrong, as B&D would effectively put KT away with 4 massive runs to end the game on absolute fire. Balls and Dolls win, 9-5

Week 5 | 7/16/15 | Highlights

We’ve Got The Runs vs. Kick Tease: Theme Week got out to a fast and furious start with this midseason collision of teams. WGTR would get out to a good lead in the bottom of the 1st, thanks to a Paul Emerick 2 RBI single down the right field line to open up the game 2-0. KT would try to retaliate but theyre efforts were thwarted. Eliza Cozad would belt a long single to left field, showing WGTR meant business. It would end up being the only hit of the inning. James Simmons would drive in Kawakami and score KT’s first run of the game in the top of the 3rd, with a monster shot to centerfield that would be dropped and result in a stand up double. WGTR would regain their 2 run lead with another run in the 3rd to go up 3-1. Mary Collins would become a hero for the time being in the 4th, with an RBI double to bring in another run to get within one. The next batter, Brett Alford would tie the game at 3 with an RBI triple driving Mary home. Paul Emerick and Company would go back to work on offense in the bottom of the 4th, with Emerick capping a 4 run inning with an RBI double to put WGTR up 7-3. KT would find an answer in the top of the 6th, with a blast by Jason Kawakami to bring the game to 7-4. KT had one more inning to change the game, but tonight wasn’t their night. We’ve Got The Runs win, 7-4

Ballsagna vs Pitches Be Crazy 2: In one of the 2 nightcap games this week, we were treated to an interdivisional matchup that looked even on paper. Hunter Saltzgiver got out to an early start for PBC2, with a leadoff bomb over the right fielder’s head to put PBC2 up 1-0. Neither team was able to score in the 2nd, giving the appearance of immovable object vs unstoppable force type of game. Ballsagna would get runners on base in the 3rd, but to no avail for runs. PBC2 would take advantage of the Ballsagna mishap and convert big time, with 5 runs in the inning started by a bases loaded clearing double by Dan Wylie. Frustrated, Bryan Loucks decided to do his part on defense and ended the scoring rout by PBC2 with a horizontal sliding catch to end the 3rd inning. Ballsagna would still be searching for a way to score against the PBC2 defense, which was harder than finding Waldo as they were kept off the board through 5 innings. PBC2 would put a bow on the game in the bottom of the 5th with another eruption of offense, scoring 4 runs to go up 10-0. Ballsagna would get batters in scoring position, load the bases as well, PBC2 stood tall and didn’t allow a single run to come home for the shutout win. Pitches Be Crazy 2 wins, 10-0

Win or Lose, We Still Booze vs Tuckin’ With Jenner: Both teams came into this week ready to rock and roll, and try to fight crime in the process. TWJ would get the festivities started with a run in the top of the 1st to go up 1-0. WLWB would strike back with runners on 1st and 2nd, but a diving catch by Katie Strevey kept the hungry WLWB team off the scoreboard. TWJ would blow the doors off the hinges of this game in the top of the 2nd with not one, but 2 2 run home runs by Jared Reid and Randy Griswold to go up 5-0. WLWB would find their stride in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 1 run and showing TWJ they weren’t unstoppable. Top of the 5th, still a 5-1 contest, and WLWB would have the shortest defensive outing possible, 3 pitches, 3 outs. We found out why they wanted back on offense so fast, and it was because they wanted to score again, and score again they did with 2 crucial runs to cut the TWJ lead in half. Top 6, and the man named Randy Griswold would strike again on offense with a 2 run double to cap a 3 run 6th for TWJ, bolstering their lead up to 5 runs. Bottom 7, and WLWb looked poised for a Cinderella ending, especially after a Katie Hayes RBI triple cut the TWJ down to 3, but WLWB ran out of time as they weren’t able to complete the comeback. Tuckin’ With Jenner wins, 8-5

Balls N Dolls vs Pandora’s Box: Both squads looked ready for an all out donnybrook and took this game head on. Both teams racked up a run in the 1st, neither team wanting to give an inch. Bottom of the 2nd, Daniel Alire would break open a PB lead with an RBI single down the 3rd baseline to go up 2-1 early. Oh how the tides changed in the 3rd, as BND would strike home 2 runs to eradicate PB’s early lead. Irvin “You’re Killing ME” Smalls would come up huge for PB as he struck an RBI double to center to tie the game back up at 3 a side. Bottom 4 now, as BND was unable to score, Daniel took advantage of the situation and belted an RBI double to right field to finish what would be a 3 run inning to go up 6-3. Top 5, and BND was ready to score again with a runner on 3rd, but thanks to a very alert Steve Johnson on PB, he not only got a pop out but also threw out the runner at 3rd before they could tag up. PB would put the game on ice in the bottom of the 5th with another scoring rout, 4 runs came home to go up 10-3. BND would get batters into scoring position, but it was PB who stood tall tonight and sealed the win. Pandora’s Box wins, 10-3

Hashtag Balls vs Beauties and Balls: In the 2nd night cap game of theme week, we got a little bit of everything from the kitchen sink and a whole lot more. Neither team was able to post a run in the 1st, making a lot of viewers wonder if there was a glitch in the offenses. Never to fear, for #Balls’ Scott Holewinski came to save the day with a bloop RBI single to put #Balls up 1-0. For the 3rd and 4th innings, neither team looked like they were going to give in to the nighttime sky as both defenses tried to outplay each other and no team was able to score. Top 5th, still 1-0 and BEBA’s defense fell apart for just a moment, but it was enough for Kenny Hearn to score a 2 run homer for #Balls and put his team up by 3. BEBA would get a massive opportunity in the bottom of the 5th to score, but a little birdie with 2 outs and runners on 2n d and 3rd flew right into the centerfielder’s hands to stop the threat. Top 6, and the bases are juiced for Larry Halby, who rips one up the gut for an RBI single to go up 4-0. Bottom 6th, and BEBA was getting tired of not putting any offense on the board, and Meghan Couch delivered for BEBA and she blasted an RBI single that saw the runner truck all the way home from 1st to break up the shut out. #Balls would add an insurance run in the 7th to cement the 4 run win. Hashtag Balls wins, 5-1

HeadShots Should Count vs Vicious and Ambitious: What happens when you get two teams that both love to win in a game that sees that one must lose? You get this game. Baylor Finch would be superhuman in this affair, with a top of the 1st 3 run jack to right center field to put HSSC up 3-0. VA would strike back with a run in the bottom of the 1st to cut the lead to 2. Top 3, still a 3-1 game, and Baylor Finch was up to bat again, and he kicked the ball hard again, resulting in another 3 run bomb to give him a 6 RBI game so far, and its only the 3rd inning!!! Top 4, and HSSC would load the bases poised to absolutely take the game over, but a second coming on defense by VA kept the HSSC runners at bay. Bottom 4, and VA would use their defensive momentum to strike another run home to cut the deficit to 4. Top 5, and that guy named Baylor finch was up again, and boy did he ever light it up again, finishes the night with a 2 run blast to right and accounting for all 8 of HSSC runs. Jake Brookshire decided to make the home run derby a show for both sides to enjoy, rocketing a line drive 3 run home run to bring the game back to within 3. HSSC would respond with 2 more runs on sac flys to go up 10-5 in the top of the 6th, giving VA fair warning they wanted to be done. VA didn’t get the message and scored another run in the bottom of the 6th to make it a 10-6 game, HSSC would get the last say in this matchup, as the final run in the 7th proved to be the dagger. HeadShots Should Count wins, 11-6
Aerotek Ball Busters vs Fresh Kicks of Ball Air: Both teams looked ready and willing to do whatever it took to make sure they came away with a win this week. FBKA got out to an early lead by scoring 2 runs off of throwing errors by ABB to get an early 2-0 lead. Top 2nd, and all seemed right in the kickball world until when Adam Hills shot the sky with the ball and got a 2 run home run to get FBKA a 4-0 lead. FBKA would score again in the top of the 3rd inning to go up a handful and slowly believe they had the win in hand. Not so fast my friends, as in the bottom of the 4th, the sacrifice was on and Spencer Rogerson was able to sacrifice bunt home a run,  breaking up the shutout. We move to the top of the 6th, still a 5-1 game, and Lindsay Martin would make what would be a regular single spectacular as 2 runs came barreling home to go up 7-1. Before anymore damage could be inflicted, a sliding stop at shortstop by Chad Sievers would stop FBKA cold. Top 7, and FBKA would finish off ABB with a massive 4 run 7th, capped with another Adam Hills 2 run double to ensure a big win. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air wins, 11-1

Bazinga vs Blue Balls: In a matchup featuring 2 former Pikes Peak Cup champions, this match looked to be the hype game of the week. Bazinga would get out to a quick start in the top of the 1st, with a 3 run burst thanks to a Keith Hausam 2 run sacrifice fly and a Nate Kischer leadoff triple. BB would attempt to score in the 1st but all 3 batters would be denied. Bazinga would strike for another run in the 2nd to go up by 4, but a fantastic throwout at the plate by Chris Green for the 3rd out thwarts Bazinga’s plans. BB would get to the heart of their offense in the 2nd but it wouldn’t be evident as no one would be able to score. Bazinga went back on the major offensive at the top of the order, with Nate Kischer having a solo shot of home run, followed up by Keith Hausam with a 2 run blast to cap a 5 run 3rd inning for Bazinga to go up by 9. Top 4, more of the same from Bazinga, as Todd Brewer got into the scoring mix with a 2 run double on a line drive too hot to handle at shortstop to start a 3 run inning to go up a dozen. Erica Wright had the right mix of pitches in the top of the 5th against Bazinga’s offense, as she set down all 3 outs using a grand total of 3 pitches. Blue Balls would do everything known to mankind to try to score some offense, but it was Bazinga’s game, with 2 more runs in the 7th and no runs allowed, Bazinga secured a MAJOR win late in the season. Bazinga wins, 14-0

City Park Week 5

City Park Field 1 (6pm)

Kickaholics (Charcoal) vs. Balls Deep (Blue): What a nailbiter!!! Balls Deep jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, but the Kickaholics were quick to respond with an amazing leaping catch by Michael “Jordan” Morris in the top of the 3rd inning and a sacrifice fly ball by Angelica “Moneyball” Murray in the bottom of the 4th inning that gave the Kickaholics a 3-2 lead. Balls Deep wasn’t going down without a fight though, and Rob “Lightning” Lynde’s hustle force out at third base for the final out of the 5th inning kept things close. Then, in the top of the 7th inning, Balls Deep stormed back ahead after scoring 2 runs to take a 4-3 lead!!! The Kickaholics couldn’t muster any legit kicks in the bottom of 7th, and so they had to concede defeat… Balls Deep wins 4-3.

City Park Field 2 (6pm)

The Ballin Bison (Cardinal Red) vs. Too Legit to Kick (White): The Ballin Bison came into the game undefeated, but how would they leave it?!?! Too Legit to Kick found some offense early by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and then they added three more to take a 5-0 lead through five innings… Bum bum bum! The Ballin Bison tried to keep things close though, and Joel Sundeen laying out for a foul ball certainly helped keep up their motivation. (See the replay here.) However, game MVP Ben Burnham’s pitching performance for Too Legit to Kick was just too much for the Ballin Bison to handle. Too Legit to Kick wins 5-1.

City Park Field 3 (6pm)

New Kicks on the Block (Kiwi Green) vs. Ballz N’ Dollz (Light Pink): Who would win in a battle of Crossfit aficionados and Minions? Only one way to find out… The Minions of Ballz N’ Dollz sure had some great plays—Elijah Ledezma had a spectacular catch at third base for a key out in the 4th inning. However, the play of the game came in the 6th inning when Rebecca Benedict from Ballz N’ Dollz busted out her patented nut-buster kick. Let’s just say the catcher for New Kicks on the Block will think twice before crowding the plate next time. In terms of the scoreboard though, New Kicks on the Block maintained a comfortable lead from the 3rd inning on. Looks like all that paleo, bud light, WODs, and pre-workout mix is really paying off. New Kicks on the Block wins 9-1.

City Park Field 4 (6pm)

Where My Pitches At (Heliconia) vs. Suck My Kick (Lime): Even though Where My Pitches at may have been winning on the scoreboard for most of the game, Adam Henderson’s double play in the top of the 3rd inning stole the show. (See the highlight here.) Henderson explained after the game, “I would like to thank my parents for all those hours spent in the backyard tossing around that kickball with me. I could never get enough. Even in college, I would still regularly go back to my elementary school and train on the kickball pitch with the other 4th graders. Good times.” Where My Pitches At wins 5-1.

City Park Field 1 (7pm)

High Rollers (Gold) vs. Purple Cobras (Violet): Unlike the classic underdog story of Dodgeball, the Purple Cobras went into this contest as a definite underdog against the experienced High Rollers squad (aka Angry Birds). The High Rollers pounced early and took a 2-1 lead after Lauren “No Worries” Williams made a great tip catch for the final out in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Purple Cobras tried to keep things close with their defense as Nadia “The Captain” Fahoum had the final out in the top of the 2nd inning despite some distractions from the peanut gallery. Not to be out done though, Evan “The Expert” Perez from the High Rollers completed a solid reflex catch at home plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning. From there on out, the High Rollers inched ahead and kept the Purple Cobras at bay despite a late 7th inning rally. High Rollers win 5-3.

City Park Field 2 (7pm)

Oilers SLTI (Irish Green) vs. Real Housewives of Greely (Maroon): Sometimes style and function come together—in this case, Tuss Erickson and Catherine Mack from the Real Housewives of Greely showed off their amazing style by dressing up as Napoleon Dynamite in their “Vote for Pedro” outfits. Erickson also showed off his MVP-winning kickball moves by turning a nifty double play as the pitcher, thereby proving the old adage—don’t judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately, Erickson was an MVP in a losing effort as the Oilers were too much for Napoleon and Pedro to handle. Oilers win 8-3.

City Park Field 3 (7pm)

Girls Love Big Kicks (Red) vs. Lunchbox Violators (Daisy Yellow): Such staunch defenses for both these squads ensured that this contest would be a close one. Mark Palke from Girls Love Big Kicks started things off with an impressive double play in the 2nd inning, thereby keeping the score tied at 0-0. However, finally in the bottom of the 4th inning, Eli Roth from the Lunchbox Violators crushed a shot to right field thereby claiming the first RBI of the game!!! Kickball analyst Chris Berman exclaimed, “I love a hard fought, low scoring game kickball game as much as the next fan. However, nothing is better than that perfect kick. It-could-go-all-the-way!!!” Lunchbox Violators win 1-0.

City Park Field 4 (7pm)

Kicktease (Old Gold) vs. My Kick Gets it Done (Orange): This matchup of kickball veterans could have been anybody’s game… But it turns out that the U.S. Women’s Soccer team (Kicktease) is much better than the cast of the TV show Naked and Afraid (My Kick Gets it Done). Kicktease proceeded to score three runs in the 2nd and 4th innings while My Kick Gets it Done could only muster one real kick for a score. At the end of the game, Captain Adam Eccher of Kicktease commented, “In a rivalry game like this one, even if we don’t win another game this season, I can go home happy knowing that we won the contest that really mattered…” Kicktease wins 10-1.

Sunday Funday - Week 4 Highlights

After School Special vs. Untouchaballs

Special started things off with a single run in the top of the first inning...very special!!  They'd keep that lead until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Balls' Nick Schnurr blasted a solo home run and tied the game at one a piece...nice work Schnurr!! The score would remain the same until the bottom of the 4th inning and then Balls' Nick Schu was at it again!!  "SchnurrSchnurrSchnurr," the fans were chanting as he booted a RBI double that scored a second run on errant throws around the infield. He did get out on some silly base running but the damage was done and Schnurr had put his stamp on the game. I think maybe we just like typing/saying Schnurr!  Special's Chris Towle made a notable and sweet diving catch to end the bottom of the 4th inning and stop the Schnurr rally. Both teams finished with lockdown defense, and scoring in this one, ended in the 4th.  Untouchaballs win, 3-1.

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Untouchaballs

This one gets our vote for best game of the day. Kicks got on the board early with two runs in the 1st with strategic ball placement and aggressive base running.  Balls were stymied in the 1st inning, but in the 2nd Nick Schnurr was back kicked a solo home run to make the game 2-1.  In the 3rd inning it was all lockdown defense, snazzy pitching from both teams, and zero zip zilch on the scoreboard.  Then in the bottom of the 4th innings Balls' Schnurr was at it again belting two RBI's in and gave his team the lead, 3-2. As Kicks always does, they did not give up and in the top of the 6th inning they plated two runs and took the lead back, 4-3. However, it seemed to be Untouchaballs' destiny on this Sunday Funday, and Thomas Riggle was able to kick the game winning, two RBI single and from there it was pandemonium...very impressive Thomas!! Untouchaballs win, 5-4.

Fresh Kicks of Ball Air vs. Booze on First

After a nail biter of a first game, Fresh Kicks was ready to go. They opened the game with four runs. The first run was scored on a triple from Fresh's speedster Tack and from there Fresh had all the momentum.  It is amazing that teams who score in the 1st inning, win 80% of the time per Compustat...teams, make your mark early!!  Their scoring in the inning would end with a two run home run from Brad Callaway who was mad he didn't kick it further as he trotted around the bases.  Booze would get their only run of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning from a solo home run by their pitcher. Kicks would add four more runs over the final two innings and win this one easily. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air win 9-1.

New Kicks On The Block vs. Star Spangled Hammered

We thought maybe this would be a defensive battle the whole way through, but it ended up being a game of the long ball. Scoring started in the 3rd inning by SSH who got two home runs, 1 by Gary Spetseris (sp) and the other by Jim Warren (sp).   Jim's was a two run shot while Gary booted a 3-run home run in the 4th inning and instantly the team Franchise tagged him. New Kicks got a small spark from the newbie Kevin Eady who kicked a solo home run which was their only run...let's keep Kevin on board!!  In the end, SSH had too much fire power for the Newbies.  Star Spangled Hammered wins 10-1.

Sunday Funday - Week 3 Highlights

Star Spangled Hammered vs. New Kicks on the Block

Hammered got out to an early lead in this one with three runs in the top of the 1st inning. That would be all the scoring for both teams until the top of the 3rd inning when Hammered plated two more runs and stretched there lead to 5-0. They probably could have scored more had Reid Grott not kicked a pop fly to end the inning with the bases loaded.  It was at this time that the New Kicks showed up. They were able to score three runs and make this a close game, 5-3. New Kicks then turned up the ‘D’ and got a pretty badass diving catch from Brook Allman to end the 5th inning. Her team would rally around that play and score another run and make this a one run game. New Kicks kept the momentum going and were able to shut down the Hammered in the 6th and 7th innings. In the top of the 6th inning, Ashley Feller caught 2 fly balls in a row to end the innings...welcome to Sunday Funday Ashley!!  Unfortunately, it was not enough. Star Spangled Hammered wins 5-4.

Hose Draggers vs. Fresh Kicks of Ball Air

Fresh got on the board first with one run in the bottom of the first inning. It should have been two runs but Hose made an awesome relay from right field to the first baseman to the catcher to prevent a run.  It was Brad Calloway who booted that ball and his lack of effort that made this play close.  Hose finally scored in the top of the 3rd inning with a sacrifice from Katie. Kicks would match that run and take the lead back with a RBI triple from Calloway (at least this time he knew not to push his luck).  Then in the top of the 4th inning Hose broke this game open with six runs. Two of which came off of a 2 RBI triple from Derrek Keaton. Both teams would add one more run in the 5th inning and that was all she wrote.  Hose Draggers win 8-3.

Hose Draggers vs. After School Special

This was a really good game, with high octane offense!!  Hose got started with a 2 run home run from Frank Capobianco. Special would score one run of their own in the bottom of the 1st with a sacrifice by Sara Wineberg. Special would then go on to score a single run in the next three innings.  Hose would take the lead back in the top of the 5th inning with a RBI triple from Frank Capobianco. Then with only a one run lead, Hose broke the game open with a 2 RBI single by Derek Keaton.  Hose Draggers win 11-6.

Booze on First vs. New Kicks on the Block

New Kicks were all warmed up and ready to play. They got two catches in the top of the first inning from Matt Thelen. New Kicks would go on to score the only four runs of this game in the bottom of the 1st inning. It was good defense from here on. Booze had a nice long catch from Darian Wilson to end the second inning.  Then in the top of the 6th inning New Kicks got a great catch from Brook Allman in foul territory to end the inning.  Great job New Kicks on the shutout versus a great Booze on First team!!!  New Kicks on the Block win 4-0.
